It’s 2013 and as always, I get to be invited to record labels to write about emerging artists that I can’t or probably will not stand. In Pop music, there are too many gimmicks and not enough about the music. Is it too harsh to say that Pop music will never be actual about the music? Well, a small record label, Black-Lights Records invited me to watch their only star on their roster (Yes, only one musician), so I had to accept because maybe this time I will get to see a real artist.



And I was right. I knew this would be good because instead of the fancy hotel with the bad food, I was invited to her apartment. As I walked through her doors, I saw New York Pizza and her laying on the floor listening to her music with her friends laughing about how she is actually making a big. Maybe, she just forgot about her interview with me, but she stopped her Iphone and started to welcome me with open arms. “You came.” she excitedly yelled at me. She hugged me, while I’m not accustomed to friendly pleasantries, I gave a hug back. “Do you want pizza? We have all kinds because we did not know which one you will like and I’m sorry for not having this interview at these upscale restaurants, but it is New York and in New York, we go for Pizza and Pepsi. But, if you want to be classy, we have store-bought wine in the box and bottles.” she said to me. I did not know if she was serious, but I consumed the delightful pizza and the wine.



“So, what’s make you a different as a pop singer?” I said to her. She responded, “Well, I am having pizza with wine from a box. I am not here to change the world. With one song, I don’t think I will stop world hunger or other disastrous things. I am here for everyone to come together and just enjoy my album. I don’t care about sexuality because we all are open. I had sex with a girl before and I wrote about it on my album. So what make me different? I want to give a voice to every little misfit kid in the world.”



“So your album is not for adults?” I retorted. She responded, “No. I don’t think a 32 year old will say I will buy her album. I think they will buy my singles and if I keep on stringing hits, then I might get them to buy my album. My album is from when I was 13 to now. It is for teenagers and young adults. That is who I trying to connect with. Maybe in my next album, I will have a much, much, much older sound like Suzie.



“Tell me about your first single and I will be off now.” “My first single is called “Bold” and it will be premiered next week on radio. It is about a guy or a girl too scared to make a move, even if you are displaying the signs to say, “Just ask me, already.” I will be premiering tonight, I guess.



Katrina Wild, a 19 year old singer/songwriter made me feel like I was her friend. Do I think she will go far? Yes!!!! Do I think she will be a force? Most Definitely! In 2013, This will be Wild Year!!

‘Bold’ is the first single of my song and the second song off my album because it is about a boy that did not get a clue about me liking him. I showed him all the signs in the world and while, he did not get the hints. He started to date other people. Pretty much, the song is about a boy that does not understand that I like him and he is pissing me off by dating other people. Instead of him telling me a direct answer, he is blowing me off and this song is telling him to be bold about his feelings and make me his girl. This song was written in Brooklyn and produced by a new Dj crew called JR and the Krewellas. It has influences of Dub-step and Dance music to create a such hit like ‘Bold’.
