Holy shit. Bought a snowboard, boots, bindings, a jacket and pants for $700 all in, which ain't so bad. Just about two regular weeks' wages...

Bindings are being fitted tonight, will pick up the board. Also need to switch boots down a size, apparently the tighter ones are tight for a reason.

I hope you shout "cowabunga dude" as you go down the hill. Also a "totally radical" would be nice.

Well Snowboarding lingo is, to put it mildly, super-fucking-dumb, so "cowabunga dude" wouldn't be especially out of place.

Last night I was working on a lift that was really quiet. So I started making small snowmen, and putting them on the seats and sending them down. I made a paper hat for one of them, and I wrote "WHAT UP?" on it. It blew off in the wind before it got to the bottom. But the snowman made it all the way around a couple of times.

no, because for some reason i assume i am the only one on here who ski's snowboards or does any other sort of winter snow related sports.. Its nice to see someone else doing a season and discovering the joys of sliding down snow very quickly.

Well in Vancouver, it seems like everyone learns to ski or snowboard at a young age. You see kids up there, maybe 8 years old, having a blast. In fact, a lot of people learn both skiing and snowboarding. And then you see guys on splitboards very occasionally, and those super-short snow-skate ski things. And I've seen a couple people riding a board with ski boots and ski bindings. Looks really weird. And painful.

Oh okay, so you're not calling me a square, but you are calling me a dick. That's a relief.

So there' a dude coming to view my room on Tuesday, when I won't be here, who I think is under the mistaken impression that at that point can say "okay, I'll take it" and move in then and there. So I need to be ready to move out with about a day's notice, and be ready to move out the very next morning.

However, I expect he'll not want to take it for the asking price (don't fucking haggle, the rent is the rent), so I'll be stuck here in Marpole, the dullest neighbourhood in Vancouver for the rest of the month.

Overall I had a fantastic day. I got a lot done. Gonna actually start working on writing some songs and get more into the music thing which I've absolutely payed dust to. I know the February songwriting thing Bikz use to do with us coming up. I should participate in that!

Turns out going to bed at 10.30 for a change is not a good idea when your brain just says "fuck you. Stop this lying in the dark shit and get back up." Sleep fail.

What is a good idea however, is eating oatmeal and strawberries every morning for breakfast. And then maybe a banana.

You know what makes me realise I'm becoming all mature and grown up? The realisation that now I have a house and a career and a decent wage, that the thing I want more than anything in the world is to start a family. If I had had thoughts like that two years ago, I'd have been terrified, but now, the idea of being someone's dad seems like most amazing and rewarding thing in the world. I don't know if guys are supposed to get broody like women do where they want to have a kid, but yeah,I feel like I'm 25 and I just want to start a family. Weird how things change like that.

25 sounds likeas good age to start.especially with the career and house sorted. i becamea father at 21 and it was far too early. my daughter was planned...to the day. stupid ovulation tests. not even children could eke out extra sex from miss hess. oddly, i recently learned i was an accident.no wonder my father never liked me....

being a father is a hoot.seriously, the best experience you can have. the baby stage is fun,but when they get older? i love it. granted, the parenting becomes A LOT harder the older they get. but the conversations are so much better.
