Foreword/Release Note
Opus - Any artistic work, esp. one on a large scale

A few months ago I killed a band. I dug a grave deep enough to satisfy a religion and with tears in my eyes I stuck the cross in the dirt and left it for dead. A week ago I dug up that grave and found people with open arms, friends that never left me.

Sorry.
Goodbye.

Scott: Zombie bands? I like it. Certainly looking forward to hearing what Gears of Fate can do. Always a staple of a good band.

ii.) The Great White North

Length: 5:38
Notes:

-Has a more indie feel to help the transition between Crows on the Perch and Natural Closure.
-Much more love orientated. More about second chances than anything and has a really cohesive plot.

Overview:

This was one of the many songs that we recorded in Canada, and I love it so much because it feels a lot more calmer even though it builds up into this huge refrain/breakdown. Still, it was made while on a bender of Death Cab for Cutie.

Lyrics:

Legend:
(.v) - Violin starts (played by Renee Belmont).
(.r) - Renee sings this line alone.
(.b) - Instrumental break which takes place between the Chorus and final verse. During it, only the drums remain and there’s a light taping of the snare drum. After the ten seconds normal tempo returns.

Through proposals while I’m tongue-tied/I’ll make sure that you’ll be my hallowed bride
Through the vows we’ll abide/We’ll find true happiness besiiiide
(.r)Each other while we lock hands/Taking on any obstacle we dare withstand
So come with me, across these lands/We’ll make the greatest of plans
Come fly with me and we’ll find a house/Anything of any sort for my lovely spouse
(.r)Then we’ll hear the Sound of Settling/Alongside the clattering of our wedding rings

[Chorus:]

So follow me and from this day forth/Come with me to the Great White North
So follow me and from this day forth/Come with me to the Great White North
So sweet girl, lest our feet stall/I’ll take you to Montreal
In any foreseeable scenario/We’ll kiss along the lakes of Ontario

So follow me and from this day forth/Come with me to the Great White North
So follow me and from this day forth/Come with me to the Great White North
Maybe this journey will give us time to reflect?/While we look out over Quebec
I think we’ll both agree/As we look out over Calgary

[Chorus End]

(.v)

Remember when we used to define/A love thought so divine
Yet we couldn’t stand the test of time/So with a final chime
We’ll end our love with a lack of goodbyes/One more moment til’ the final demise
(.r)No more love letters no more blue skies/This is the note where our love diiiiiies
All that’s left here is the hollow memories/And thoughts of days we’ll never seize
So to the shattered love and pleas/I think we’ll end with a bang

(.b)

(.v)

Take two, I see you in a hotel/’Is life treating you well?’
(.r)‘Oh I’m doing just swell’/On casual topics we’ll dwell
Then at the stroke of midnight we’ll depart/And re-imagine the truths behind our hearts
For a second time I’ll promise you we’ll never fall apart/We promise that it’s time for a fresh start
Then we look onwards to the sun setting/Soon we find ourselves forgetting
The past loves we lost/Over the Canadian Skyline
