Black = Together (Crowd & Jen)
As all of the lights go out, the crowd becomes restless in anticipation as to what will happen in the next few minutes. Jennifer Armstrong was a veteran when it came to performing live. She had nervousness but didn't often second guess herself about it and she considered herself to be an okay live artist. She was underneath the stage, preparing herself for when her cue came up. In the course of rehearsals, Jen had changed her hair a little. It was lighter and a little shorter as compared to her regular hair style and signature long, dark hair with brown streaks in it. She had a lot on her mind at the time of the performance. She was thinking about her fans and how they would react to her performance. Even if they hated it, she thought that it looked great as she practiced it so she had no regrets. After she stands on her mark, she holds her microphone in her hand by her side and looks up, listening to the roar of the crowd. She smiles to herself as the stage suddenly begins to arise from the bottom after she hears her name being announced. The lights were still out and there was a single white spotlight on her now. The crowd went nuts once they saw her in her tight, black fitted dress with a black leather jacket and black short boots that had spikes in them. She holds the microphone up to her mouth. She begins singing parts of her last single, 'It's Okay To Not Be Okay'.
"Take a minute, let it all sink in
Now it's over, you've lost your best friend
But now you don't wanna hear any comfort
Then you realize, sun is shining
You've got new eyes, that are dawning
It's not as bad as you thought that it would be

At first, you believe that Jen will be giving a very somber and emotional performance but suddenly the music stops after she belts out the last of the chorus and the lights turn on. Some dancers come out, all wearing black jeans and red leather jackets, and the backing track starts to play, 'Long Overdue' which is the debut performance of her new single. She claps her hands together to the beat, encouraging the audience to do the same. She is smiling, looking happy and she makes her way over to the center of the stage where she begins to sing the first of the song. As she is singing, she points out into the crowd, as if to point to a certain person but she was being fun with the crowd. While she is singing, the lights are going back and forth from different colors, giving her a bright and confident look as she was performing. She made sure to use the stage to her advantage and to have a lot of interaction with the crowd to keep them interested in the performance also.

When she went to the chorus, her backup singers join her, giving a very beautiful harmony effect to it. They are bopping and swinging their hips to the beat, gently so they don't stand out too much as to over-shine Jen and her performance. The dancers start to dance with Jen as she does simple moves as she wanted to come off as sexy and not get too worked up. She also wanted to focus more on her vocals even though the dance track would be perfect to show off dance moves. As the song goes back to the next verse, she goes out to touch some hands of the fans as they scream and reach, hoping she would make her way over to them next. This lasted for about 10 seconds before she would walk over to the other side of the stage and start singing to another group of audience members.

But you were dead wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong"The chorus came back up and Jen was on the side of the stage again, dancing with the girls. She managed to start slowly shaking her hips and smiling as she did so. Her leg went up a little and she giggled to herself, feeling much more confident and free compared to her other touching performances. Soon the instrumental starts playing and she does a dance number with her dancers. Jen plays with her hair a little and starts to ad lib while she continues to move. She looks at the girls and smiles at them, as if to tell them they're doing a great job and for them to have just as much fun as she's having, which seems to be the case by the looks on their faces. Slowly, they all form into a small circle with Jen in the middle then they move away as she walks through them, coming to the front again and singing the Bridge.

During the bridge, Jen plays with the crowd as they go back and forth with each other. She motions for them to sing along and they do so. She holds out her microphone as they yell back to her Rico Love's part and she would put the microphone back to her lips as she would sing her part and then the two would join together and sing the parts that involved both Jen and Rico. They continued to do this until the song shifted into the ending parts as Jen was now solely focusing on her powerhouse vocals and notes. She was vocalizing enough to make the hairs on your arm stand up but also made you feel good with the message she was singing through her single. She was encouraging everyone to have fun along with her as she wasn't in that depressed state anymore. She went back to the center of the stage as the dancers were dancing behind her and she was wrapping up the song.

This was long overdue"When the song reached the end, the dancers and Jen all stopped at the same time, as if striking a pose for the crowd who were cheering loudly for the singer and her performance. Jen smiled at the crowd and graciously thanked them as she couldn't stop giggling and being proud of herself for giving her all tonight. She waved and blew kisses to the crowd and then headed offstage with her dancers and the DJ who was also accompanying her tonight. She had hoped that it was enough to impress her fans and to really mark her shot at being able to separate herself from the broody Jen everyone had come to grow and love. |
