Say goodbye to 2012. There's a new year to look forward and a new year to look forward to especially if your a James Urie fan. 2011 through 2012 was in many eyes, the true birth of the star in "James Urie" after releasing his very successful previous album 'Tales From The Struggle'. The album saw Urie expose all his deepest feelings about the depressions he experienced following his flop of an debut album "Climbing", leading up to the time the second record was released. After digging into the deepest and darkest year for Urie, the truthfulness and core of the album was met with a massive critical acclaim and much fame, success and even number one singles for James Urie. As the rest of 2012 raged on, Urie continued with his success going on to win two Fan Choice Awards in 'Sexiest Male' and 'Best Male Artist' and even the positive energy couldn't continue, the James went onto marry his current wife, Gemma Urie in a shocking event after dating Gemma for months on in without any suspecting anything. After much success and happiness Urie took virtually no time off and got back into the studio to work on a new album.

The Recovery is the the third studio album by recording artist James Urie being released in February 2013 under record label North Hill records. The album sees Urie overcoming personal struggles that come with the aftermath of depression - including anger, finding strength, empowerment, insecurities as well as new found love through a range of emotions that Urie offers. In a nutshell, the album will offer not just for a James Urie fan, it's just a story, but it's also a remedy for ones who are facing depression and can overcome, the album is also for others who have faced depressions and other complications that could embrace being a survivor of these complications much like Urie, with this material. The album offers a variety of different tempo's including hard and soft indie rock ballads to strong and empowering alternative rock jams that even scream 80's punk that will give the listener a diverse expedition through alternative, indie and punk music that James proclaims as one of his most truthful records of his career.

The album's era officially began in late 2012 with the release of leading single "Farewell". The empowering track about finally overcoming depression and ultimately saying goodbye to it proved to be an empowering track for his fans as well as the song peaked at #1 on the Top 20 Digital Charts and #3 on the Top 20. The second single taken off the album, "Retaliate" which showed an angrier side to Urie proved to be a massive success topping both the Top 20 Radio Charts and Top 20 Digital Charts consecutively. Following the success of "Retaliate", James released promotional single "Trying My Best Not To Forget" featuring singer-songwriter Sara Daniels that was released just to Radio Airplay and peaked at the #6 position. The third single released off the album was "Bulletproof" that peaked at #8 on the Radio Charts and #2 on the Digital Charts respectively

"I feel like this is the perfect time for this album. The past year has been unbelievable. Not only in terms of my success, but in terms of who I am mentally and musically. Just two years ago, leading up to the release of The Struggle there was so many demons I was dealing with, so much depression..so much pain that I was able to get out to my fans, and share my experiences with and I'm glad that they were album connect with the album and appreciate it like they all have. With this album, I feel like now in my life I have stepped on stable grounds. I have been able to enjoy life like I never have before the past is becoming further and further away from me and I've been able to put together this group of work to continue the journey where the last album ended off. The Struggle is no more. I've now been recovering from all the issues that I have faced because so many positive things have been going on in my life..and I've become so tired of being sad that I just had to let it go. I felt like I had to share all of it with my fans to show them that when there's darkness, oh yeah, there's darkness ..but soon there will be light. Soon there will be a time where you can genuinely smile and enjoy, love and embrace who you are and the people around you. This album signifies who I am today, and I want my fans to really connect to how I am feeling. I want everyone who has ever dealt with depression to listen to this album and feel empowered and have faith to not give up and fall victim to all the negative outcomes of depression and to be themselves no matter who you are. The listeners who haven't dealt with any type of trial and tribulation, I've also recorded this album for you to listen to how much I have grown as a person and a musician. Depression never goes away fully, and you'll always have the effects of it certain days and when you listen the album you can still here that I am still dealing with small personal obstacles and I may be angry at a few people but I've gotten off of my chest. The Recovery is not only an album to enjoy but it's also for therapeutic value. I want people to feel what I'm feeling. In the tracks that I am angry and ranting on, I want my fans to feel the anger that I felt. On the songs that I'm feeling empowered and strong on.. I want my fans to feel. And that goes for the entire album. It took a while for this album to be unveiled because I've been working on it for quite some time and chose what I feel is the 10 best, and most truthful songs that I have recorded and I'm so very excited to finally share the continuation of my journey, this time my recovery....with all my fans who have been here with me for the longest time and have helped me even reach my third album let alone have support me through my ordeal. So there here, is James Urie giving back. If your dealing with a tough life or occurrences, never give up. Keep pushing forward because sooner or later, if you keep pushing forward you will experience a Recovery. "

Genre: Alternative Rock, Indie rock, post-punk revival
Recorded: 2012
Song Writers: James Urie
Producers: Alex Moulder, James Urie

Riding off the success of his platinum selling sophomore album "The Struggle" which opened up doors to Urie's darkest moments following his hiatus from music and alleged fight with depression. The album released 4 singles, two of which were #1 singles. Most of all, the album has finally certified James Urie as a force to be reckon with as he continues to climb the ladder of rock music, as well as making Urie quite the hot prospect of this time. Finally getting passed his "baby faced" image with the dark and oppressive manner of his album "Tales From The Struggle" and the singles released from it, Urie seems to have found his niche. He seems to have finally come into one with himself not only mentally but musically as well. James takes us into a more empowering feel for the first track off of "The Recovery.

Farewell was the first single off of James Urie's the album. The song starts off in a powerful way as drums unleash automatically along with cymbals slamming against the track, mixed with electric guitars for a few seconds. The intro beat of the song continues as the the first verse begins. His voice strong and empowering, as his says the opening verse of the song quite quick paced with the repetitive drum, and guitar combo. The repetitive beat as James quickly says I awoke with the light |The lights in my eyes, I wake up| Like any normal day|I walk to a mirror, to stare at my clear reflection| I'm inferior|It's a dream that's growing old| James channels his old days during his depressive state, as he continues getting across the fact that he has had dreams about him having a clear reflection when he looked into the mirror, in this nightmare, showing how much of an empty soul he was. The beat of the song soon then begins to pick up when the hook finds it way to the track.

He yells out screams farewell to the old guy as the beat gets stronger with the drums and electric guitars slamming harder in that repetitive motion behind his voice. James Urie is letting go of the old him, saying good bye to the old times as he yells out out |Farewell to the old guy| Depression won't plague me anymore| Goodbye to those past times| Opportunities came knocking at my door| For those few seconds that he sings those lines the track once again is building up for an even stronger release and the drums and electric guitars unleash for his next lines in this track |You stood around and watched my head drown!| with the electric guitar of this indie rock fused track go into a frenzy along with the drums making a beautiful mixture of instruments mixed with beat. James Urie's voice makes it clear that this is an empowering track

Things slow down and return back to it's repetitive beginning beats with the electric guitar and drums. Urie sings the next few very deep lines with much meaning. Urie sings: Watch me as I soar above the skies|As I ignore the desperate fear that flows through my thighs| They say there's no place like home |I say there's no place when insanity starts ripping through your soul| I thought if I stood by your side| You would guarantee my safety And reassure that I'd be alright| But the nightmare I was running from| The nightmare of being alone | Became a reality, faster then dawns sunlight| James gets very deep for those lines, as he's telling everyone who once saw him down, soar above. He also channels the times that he once thought he was out of his mind, comparing it to not having a place called him, and a time where his worse fears became true, the time where he would be alone. This makes us listeners feel as if James is actually letting go of the old him, and has found a new mindset.

The beat begins to pick up as Urie again he says farewell to the old guy, the old him, and says goodbye to the old times as new opportunities have come to him. Yelling out the very important line of the song |You stood around and watched my head drown|Bringing his voice to a very high and powerful manner. Speaking to all the people who watched him at the lowest of his core.

The track slows down, much more for the bridge of the track. Mixed with light bass strings and occasional electric guitar riffs supported by a nice relaxing backing beat, Urie sings more vulnerability then his powerful vocal of the other parts of the song saying Farewell for the final time telling the listeners to keep on waving goodbye and that he has finally found himself. So keep on waving|Keep keep on waving|I've finally found myself |Farewell, go to hell
| He also makes sure he says "Go to hell" to all the people who doubted him and all the people who have left him or betrayed him during his time of need and sadness and even during this time, of happiness.

As he says "Farewell, I am WELL" belting out "Well" at the second part of the bridge, the song unleashes into the final chorus with the beats sounding harder then before and Urie's voice sounding stronger until the song rides out to a haunting finish.

I awoke with the light
The lights in my eyes, I wake up
Like any normal day
I walk to a mirror, to stare at my clear reflection
I'm inferior
It's a dream that's growing old

Farewell to the old guy!
Depression won't plague me anymore
Goodbye to those past times!
Opportunities came knocking at my door

You stood around and watched my head drown!
You saw me at my lowest, at my core
So stand around and watch my head rise
Farewell to my weakness and those lies

Watch me as I soar above the skies
As I ignore the desperate fear that flows through my thighs
They say there's no place like home
I say there's no place when insanity starts ripping through your soul
I thought if I stood by your side
You would guarantee my safety
And reassure that I'd be alright
But the nightmare I was running from
The nightmare of being alone
Became a reality, faster then dawns sunlight

Farewell to the old guy!
Depression won't plague me anymore
Goodbye to those past times!
Opportunities came knocking at my door

You stood around and watched my head drown!
You saw me at my lowest, at core
So stand around and watch my head rise
Farewell to my weakness and those lies

So keep on waving
Keep keep on waving
I've finally found myself
Farewell, go to hell

I'll keep on waving
Keep keep on waving
I've finally found myself
Farewell, I am WELL!
(2x)

You stood around and watched my head drown!
You saw me at my lowest, at my core
So stand around and watch my head rise
Farewell to my weakness and those lies

Sounds Like

Quote:
What people don't know about this track "Farewell" is that A. It's probably one of my most honest records that I have written and B. That the track was the very first song recorded for "The Recovery", as well as it being released as the first single. Going into the studio with this track, I felt so empowered, it was some time after I realized that I no longer could sit around and be depressed. I needed to say goodbye to the past and to the old me. I knew right away that I wanted to put together a strong track since I became so tired of recording sad and depressed music, because quite frankly, I no longer felt that way, at least before I recorded the song I thought so. As I recorded this track, that's when I really began to know and appreciate that I was in an entirely new mindset, and I'm not saying that I'm completely healed, but it really is a far cry from what I was before when you listen to this strong. I let go of a lot of anger I had for a few others who betrayed me when writing and recording this song, but when I did, I really felt so much better about it. The strength I hold in my voice, the honesty of the song just feels so right and right away I knew this would be the testament for the new album and ultimately the opening to the album as a whole. It's big, it's loud, it's empowering and it's truthful. I've become so proud of this record for so many reasons, and if you heard it I think you'd know why I appreciate it so much. In this track, it's just the beginning of me letting go of the past and it's no better way of starting it off by saying "Farewell".

Genre: Alternative rock
Recorded: 2012
Song Writers: James Urie
Producers: Scott R.H

Following the opening sequence to the album in "Farewell", which gives the listener a confident and empowered Urie the next track can be looked at quite differently. James Urie, who always wanted to work with the likes of Scott RH since he was a young hopeful, finally got the chance to for the album and for this track in particular. After reaching out to Scott for a possibility to work together, the optimistic RH met with Urie just weeks later in Los Angeles to discuss the upcoming track. After recording the song with Scott, both agreed that for the final product, a female vocalist would be an excellent addition.

"Trying My Best Not To Forget". Which features recording artist and song writer Sara Daniels has the core base of Alternative Rock that opens up Urie's resentment to what seems to be his brother and the others who have turned their back on him. He's trying his best not to forget who these people are but instead can only be reminded of the carelessness they showed him during his time of need. The initial feeling of resentment is heard early on within the track as the song starts with sharp guitar chords and riffs that are present throughout the track.

The opening lines feelings relaxed and calm, with just quick guitar chords behind Urie's voice, that sounds rigid. So I'm here alone| Feeling free|Trying my best not to forget|Who you were to me|Who I was to you|Even though my mind just wants to erase it|Their passing by|And looking at me|As if I caused the erasing. Following the last line, the once laid back beginning now takes us off guard as a surprising slow guitar riff is heard along with Sara, who presents herself for the first time in the song behind the patient riff. Sara's voice, sounding vulnerable and pessimistic she's coos out; Brother..|But why'd you leave me out for dead?|Brother..|Why couldn't you pick me up instead?; The Guitar chords then return and become bigger, and quicker. They are now infused with massive drum loops that follow closely behind each guitar chord and cymbal slam. The beat, which is now fast paced and raging moves along James, who continues to continue his story. As he angrily continues to open up to the listener with quite complex, but very understandable lyrics that explain how tables have now turned and that these figures are now the ones who need help ;You were one of them|With the fire extinguishers|You could've helped me| No you let it linger| And because of that|I learned to live on my own| This is so infused|With passive anger|Now it's your moment of sickness| And I've got the meds|But I've got this urge for a vengeance|Do I save your life?|Or let it die?|When they resuscitate| Should I stand there sly?; Urie continues to sing with the backing instruments seeming to get even bigger.; It wasn't that!| I was under attack| My brain wasn't so amazan'|I was too busy high| Busy running from fire. That I felt was coming toward me; The backing instruments now slow down for the the short lines Sara sings once more. This time without the slow electric guitar riff, but instead with the same cymbal and percussion's that have been present throughout the track. With her vulnerable vocals once more Sara sings: Brother..|But why'd you leave me out for dead?| Brother..| Why couldn't you pick me up instead?|.

The song, which has a very uptempoed manner presented especially when Urie is singing his vocals does does pick up heavily for the bridge where Sara continues singing. All this sex|All these drugs|All these complications (3x)|; where all of the recurring instruments join as one as a concoction. Where Sara makes a reference to sex, drugs and complications that musicians do go through. It doesn't stop there however, shortly after Urie yells out the next few lines starting off with "Brother!". The instruments stay with him for the emotional and dramatic manner of that specific part in the song as he continues on: I feel so wrong for not giving!|Brother!| I just don't want to be forgiven!|Brother!!|I'm not crazy for not caring!| Brother!!|Did you give shit when I had fallen!!?| Urie seems to be questioning his very own brother as his own actions with these unique outbursts Urie presents in the song. The heavy instruments finally slows back down to the quick and laid back guitar chords that was heard in the opening seconds of the song as Urie says the final lines in: So I'm here alone| Feeling free| Trying my best not to forget| After those words come out of Urie's mouth, the second track on "The Recovery" comes to an end.

LYRICS
Black - James Urie
Blue - Sara Daniels
Bold & Black - Yelled

So I'm here alone
Feeling free
Trying my best not to forget
Who you were to me
Who I was to you
Even though my mind just wants to erase it
Their passing by
And looking at me
As if I caused the erasing

Brother..
But why'd you leave me out for dead?
Brother..
Why couldn't you pick me up instead?

It wasn't that!
I was under attack
My brain wasn't so amazan'
I was too busy high
Busy running from fire
That I felt was coming toward me

You were one of them
With the fire extinguishers
You could've helped me
No you let it linger
And because of that
I learned to live on my own
This is so infused
With passive anger

Now it's your moment of sickness
And I've got the meds
But I've got this urge for a vengeance
Do I save your life?
Or let it die?
When they resuscitate
Should I stand there sly?

Brother..
But why'd you leave me out for dead?
Brother..
Why couldn't you pick me up instead?

All this sex
All these drugs
All these complications
(3x)

Brother!
I feel so wrong for not giving!
Brother!
I just don't want to be forgiven!
Brother!!
I'm not crazy for not caring!
Brother!!
Did you give shit when I had fallen!!?

So I'm here alone
Feeling free
Trying my best not to forget

I was really stoked to record this song on the album and this remains one of my favorites on the album as well. Just the fact that I've gotten a chance to work with someone as influential as Scott RH was just unbelievable, it was a very fulfilling experience. Trying My Best Not To Forget was written on an angry day I was having some months ago as I thought back to when I was going through my trial and tribulations, and the fact that the ones who I thought were closest to me, watched me during my time of need and not once did they reach out or at least try to be there for me and during my time I felt like that was very, very hurtful. I'd question myself asking "What did I do for these people to stop talking to me?", or "Where are my loved ones, my siblings?" which really triggered the writing of "Trying My Best Not To Forget". When I wrote this song, and recorded it unlike Farewell when I had an empowered feeling, this time I was angry, having alot of resentment for certain people. If it was up to them, I think they would have watched me die and you would think in your time of need you would have people there for you. The people who aren't true are the ones who only want to be there for you when you have something or you're about to receive something that could benefit them. When your in your time of need and the people you thought who were closest to you but aren't there and they know what's going on with you, those people either aren't as true to you as you thought they were, or they just didn't care about you in the first place. So I wrote this song to get out my feelings to ward those people. Asking them... why? Is there an explanation? It angers me that it was like that, that I virtually had no one there for me. And when recording this song, I really just let it all out. Which is why I probably sound so angered, and hurt in it. Sara was an amazing addition to this track because around the time I finished writing the song and it had been produced by Scott, I got word about Sara Daniels and heard one of her song named "Obsession" I believe. I thought it would be a great idea to have a female vocal on the track and after hearing the song I thought her voice mixed well wit the manner and initial sound of the song. I was right, I think it's a great collaboration and a very important track to me, because it came straight from the angry side of who I am.

"Retaliate" is the third song on the album and was chosen as the second single off the album. It was quite intriguing thinking about what Urie would have released following the success of "Farewell". Track 3 single starts off with calm guitar chords for the first few seconds of the track followed by sharp guitar riffs that join that is soon backed by drums.

This instrumentation continues for about 12 seconds before Urie brings out his vocals. Urie's signature hollow, possessed like vocals finds its way to the track. Urie murmurs out, in quite the emotionless manner: Here comes another anxiety attack| Second time today| Feeling guilty about letting my blood slip away; All I can do is shiver and hope it goes away| Oh how long will this plague me?| Only god can say. Urie speaks of a time, or times where has had head frequent anxiety and gives a brief explanation of what he would do in times like those, even as far as asking god, how long will it plague him. Following those lines the initial sound becomes bigger with the guitar riffs becoming even stronger and the backing instruments becoming quite menace as Urie really brings out his pipes as his loud croon comes soon as he's done with the opening lines of the track. Behind the relentless pounding of the instruments, Urie yells out, questioning himself once more: Why'd I trap those old lies?| They were good for all the logical harm | I blame myself for being blind| Then I realized that nothing else would change; Speaking about a person who once lied about him or to him and played a harmful influence on his mind.

Continuing on, Urie yells out all the bad he wants this person to go through and how glad it would make him feel after that person made him feel that way. He belts out: So you can weep! | You can seep! | Off The Deep | Burn and heap | I'm glad!| Just look and see | Look at me | Look at me| I'm glad! |Oh I'm glad..; The sound stays relentless through Urie belting out the previous lines. Urie then stops singing and lets the instruments takes over for a few seconds, as the bassline slows down and the sharp riffs continue. Seconds past and the song breaks into a loud drum and guitar infused monster, those guitar riffs stop and Urie sings; And it's different now | I'm not torn and aching | I guess karma bit your ass| You're now the one that's shaking | And I could really care less |If I never see your face again ; Further explaining his disliking of this person who is now in a bad place, as Urie channels Karma in the previous line. The song then breaks into another fusion of guitars and drums as the song regroups for the next verse of the song. It is obvious that the next verse has begun when the sharp, relentless and very memorable guitar riffs make it way back to the track. Urie then murmurs the next lines loudly, a far cry from the hollowness of his voice in the very start of the song: I no longer believe in disregarding myself| Now all I can believe in is hate| It took me a while to figure out | That I no longer care about you| All I can do is retaliate;

James Urie channels his retaliation to this person who has evidently really upset Urie in the past. He then continues on ; So I hope you find a new way of living| You won't make home as logical harm |This time you'll trap those old times| And realize nothing will change; Putting this person in Urie's previous position as this person no long plays as a harm to Urie's mind. The song then breaks into it's hook where he starts off with "You can weep!" He continues those lines yelling out just as he did previously, continued on by the next part of the chorus as the instruments relentlessly back Urie's heavy vocals. The bridge then finds it's way to the track, where a drum heavy break is heard mixed with a piercing guitars as Urie sings in a light breathless/falsetto like manner singing out; Retaliate | This won't wash away | Retaliate| So so...|; The beat seems to get bigger with a louder guitar over powering the previous one as she continues: Much hate|Retaliate| This won't wash away |This won't wash away|Retaliate.

The song rides out with a piece of the chorus riding the song out as the heavy break becomes even heavier and Urie sings the final lines of the song until the song ends abruptly.

What do you think of the new single by James Urie? Aside from forming your own opinions, another question that may be emerging is who is the rock star speaking of in his new song? Does the lyrics give us enough? You be the judge! The single hits stores and radio this Sunday!

LYRICS

Here comes another anxiety attack
Second time today
Feeling guilty about letting my blood slip away
All I can do is shiver and hope it goes away
Oh how long will this plague me?
Only god can say

Why'd I trap those old lies?
They were good for all the logical harm
I blame myself for being blind
Then I realized that nothing else would change

So you can weep!
You can seep!
Off The Deep
Burn and heap
I'm glad!
Just look and see
Look at me
Look at me
I'm glad!
Oh I'm glad...

And it's different now
I'm not torn and aching
I guess karma bit your ass
You're now the one that's shaking
And I could really care less
If I never see your face again

I no longer believe in disregarding myself
Now all I can believe in is hate
It took me a while to figure out
That I no longer care about you
All I can do is retaliate

So I hope you find a new way of living
You won't make home as logical harm
This time you'll trap those old times
And realize nothing will change

So you can weep!
You can seep!
Off The Deep
Burn and heap
I'm glad!
Just look and see
Look at me
Look at me
I'm glad!
Oh I'm glad...

And it's different now
I'm not torn and aching
I guess karma bit your ass
You're now the one that's shaking
You can go stepping
Yourself in
To hell

Retaliate
This won't wash away
Retaliate
So so...
Much hate
Retaliate
This won't wash away
This won't wash away
Retaliate

And it's different now
I'm not torn and aching
I guess karma bit your ass
You're now the one that's shaking
You can go stepping
Yourself in
To hell

I'd like to think of Retaliate as the Part 2 to "Trying My Best Not To Forget", which is also the reason as to why the song comes right after TMBNTF. Track two, I'm questioning those people in a more vulnerable manner. Asking why? Feeling sad about it. But some months after, when I really saw the "light" and really began to capture myself.. where my depressions really began to seize away, that "hurt anger" soon turned into pure animosity. Hate I should say. The vulnerability is gone with this track. When writing this, I figured its time for me to sing to these people, tell them how I really feel about them now and it just let flowed out for retaliate. How I really, really felt in the aftermath. What I really want to happen to these people. The success of this song was extremely surprising to me since it reached both #1 on the radio and digital charts and I felt glad that my fans could relate to the track and loved it the way they did, because I love the song also. I got the anger off of my chest after I wrote and recorded this. I think after this song, I no longer wanted to write songs about the people who were close to me but didn't care for me when I needed someone because I no longer cared because karma hurts, and karma is hitting each one of them. Why be angry, when those people will get there. I may not be able to forgive, but I am able to care less now about those people. I think Retaliate was therapeutic song for myself, and I want it to also be a song for my fans who strongly dislike someone who did them wrong. Let it go, who cares about them. Live your life, let them karma bit their ass.

Justin Mullen: This is already looking like one of the big albums of the year. In the industry there aren't really many male solo rock musicians which is a shame. But I think that you are in a league of your own and from what I've heard of the early songs, I have to say that this is already shaping up to be your best album yet and I'm looking forward to hearing the track with Amy, but the whole album is looking like it will be something special.

James: It's very true what you just said Justin, and I'm very glad that you think so highly of me. I've been working incredibly hard on this , and by the end of the album I'd hope you still think this is my best work because outdoing my previous work was quite challenging, but I think I have overcome that pressure. The track with Amy and I, is really a track I love. Can't wait for you to hear it, thank you for the kind words!

Genre: Indie Rock
Recorded: 2013
Song Writers: James Urie, Bryan O'Connor
Producers: James Urie, Peter Katias

As the angry and relentlessly driven beat of "Retaliate" comes to an end, it is rather questionable the direction Urie would go in for the fourth track taken off of The Recovery, which is tentatively entitled "Won't Be Sleeping Alone". James has been very vocal in the past about his enthusiasm concerning this track and how proud he was of the outcome of it as well. The track, written by James Urie and Bryan O'Connor with production by Urie himself, and frequent collaborator Peter Katias. Surprisingly, the track doesn't open up with relentless guitar riffs, or percussion instruments but instead opens softly and subtle, which may take the listener by surprise since the nature of the first three tracks of the album have been rather fast paced and brash. For the first time on The Recovery, we get to hear ballad driven Urie in track number 4, "Won't Be Sleeping Alone".

The initial feeling of the song when it opens is laid back, slow, calm and collective. The bass drum keeps the song rather proclaiming from the start, with the bass guitar slowing strumming along with slow guitar riffs following behind it. Seconds pass and James Urie begins singing in this indie driven ballad. His vocals, much more vulnerable then the previous tracks. It's obvious that the initial attitude of this song is different from the rather depressive like emotion in James's voice, that even may give us a flashback of his sad days during the "The Struggle Era". Urie begins singing: Night after night|Everything’s the same|Day after day; His vocals mixing perfectly with the slow paced manner of the record, which stays the same tempo. Not moving faster, or slower. He continues his lines: I’m looking for someone to blame|Hour after hour|My head is a mess|My mind is fighting with my body|But I digress; Urie sings about dealing with some type of trial and tribulation as his voice continues to move into drearily and depressive as he continues this story.

He stops singing for a few seconds, letting the instruments take over. The bass guitar, and bass drums are the prominent force in this track, with a deep melodica note whirling over the instruments. After, Urie's voice finds its way back onto the track. There used to be someone that I learnt to love|But she went away, faded then gone
Yeah she’s long gone|She’s moved on| To someplace new; It is now obvious that James is singing about a lost relationship, where that person is gone and ahead of him and James is left saddened. He sings with his same slow pace as he continues to sing the next part of this song, that sounds like a page right out of James's diary. It’s pretty painful|The cuts still feel kinda raw|But she’s gone away|Like the songs of yesterday|And I’m finding all sorts of clichés|That keep the demons at bay|It gets better in time|That’s what they all say;. He continues on singing about this person of his past who left him: I guess a lost lover is a heart that ain’t worth keeping|But ever since I let her go|I just ain’t sleeping|Some things they say|Like it’s just not meant to be|Kid you’ll move on someday| It just takes some time, you’ll see. The instrumental work on this track is so stellar that a listener may get drowned in the vocals by Urie with the backing instruments making this an enjoyable fourth track and ballad, but Urie's not done yet. He continues to sing about this heartbreak that he has gone through with the beats still remaining almost the same, this time with the guitar strums moving a bit faster. I see her again|It looks like she’s okay|And I think to myself
It’s time to make a change|If she can find herself someone new|Then I can damn sure do that too.

The once heartbroken James on the song, sings about seeing his past loved one with someone new, and so finally takes it upon himself to come to an epiphany where he sangs out "Then I can damn sure do that too". He holds the "too", showing his vocal strength in this laid back track and right after, a barrage of percussion's follow with the bass instruments making the initial sound, sound bigger. Urie's vocals escalate as he begins singing; It looks like we won’t be sleeping alone|This once empty house now feels like home|I wake up in the morning and everything feels alright|I can close my eyes|I can get some sleep at night|Because It looks like we won’t be sleeping alone|We found ourselves someone and we took the long walk home|It looks we won’t be sleeping alone|We took all the bruises|And we weathered the storm;. He sings about finding someone new, and finally being able to sleep at night;.

It's quite interesting listening to this record because you automatically begin to think back at Urie's past relationship(s) and the one he is in now, and realizing that this is the continuation of his honest tracks . After he sings the rather "late in the track" chorus, the barrage of percussion instruments move and Urie continues to sing. I see her again|It looks like she’s okay|And I think to myself|It’s time to make a change|If she can find herself someone new| Then I can damn sure do that too; Making it obvious that he was once hurt, he learned how to deal with it and now has moved on and when listening, you initially get the feeling that James is telling a story through the slow adn relaxing feeling of the song.

The barrage of percussion instruments begin to play once more after Urie sings for a few seconds. And he begins singing the chorus once more he sings louder than he did previously as the instruments, still slow, begin to move harder. As Urie's vocals become bigger, as he adds emphasize on each line he sings out. It looks like we won’t be sleeping alone|This once empty house now feels like home|I wake up in the morning and everything feels alright|I can close my eyes|I can get some sleep at night|Because It looks like we won’t be sleeping alone|We found ourselves someone and we took the long walk home|It looks we won’t be sleeping alone|We took all the bruises| And we weathered the storm

The slow, and easy on the ears "Won't Be Sleeping Alone" has a bit of instrumentation following Urie's last line, before it fades out. This track easily shows the versatility of James Urie's vocals and sound. He hasn't become pigeon hold in the "angry but strong" sound but could easily get vulnerable and diverse, as this track shows. The fourth track on this journey and expedition called The Recovery comes to an end.

Night after night
Everything’s the same
Day after day
I’m looking for someone to blame
Hour after hour
My head is a mess
My mind is fighting with my body
But I digress

There used to be someone that I learnt to love
But she went away, faded then gone
Yeah she’s long gone
She’s moved on
To someplace new

It’s pretty painful
The cuts still feel kinda raw
But she’s gone away
Like the songs of yesterday
And I’m finding all sorts of clichés
That keep the demons at bay
It gets better in time
That’s what they all say

I guess a lost lover is a heart that ain’t worth keeping
But ever since I let her go
I just ain’t sleeping
Some things they say
Like it’s just not meant to be
Kid you’ll move on someday
It just takes some time, you’ll see

I see her again
It looks like she’s okay
And I think to myself
It’s time to make a change
If she can find herself someone new
Then I can damn sure do that too

It looks like we won’t be sleeping alone
This once empty house now feels like home
I wake up in the morning and everything feels alright
I can close my eyes
I can get some sleep at night
Because It looks like we won’t be sleeping alone
We found ourselves someone and we took the long walk home
It looks we won’t be sleeping alone
We took all the bruises
And we weathered the storm

I see her again
It looks like she’s okay
And I think to myself
It’s time to make a change
If she can find herself someone new
Then I can damn sure do that too

It looks like we won’t be sleeping alone
This once empty house now feels like home
I wake up in the morning and everything feels alright
I can close my eyes
I can get some sleep at night
Because It looks like we won’t be sleeping alone
We found ourselves someone and we took the long walk home
It looks we won’t be sleeping alone
We took all the bruises
And we weathered the storm

Quote:
Won't Be Sleeping Alone is quite different from many of the tracks on the album. I wrote this song after a previous breakup I had, and finished it just a month ago. So in a way I love it because it stayed with me and transitioned from a song about just heartbreak, to a song about finding someone new and getting over the break up. I'm not too keen on relationship songs but I thought I could open up to my fans about how I've felt in the past with a relationship I once had. And I think there's nothing wrong with that. I think this song is easily the overcome of heartbreak. I thought we needed to slow the track down since I didn't want the album to be only fast paced and full of strength the whole way through and I thought I could still share with my fans that I still feel vulnerable at times, and it was quite challenging going back to that time of heartbreak but I had to mentally place myself there and I really started to feel the pain when i was recording the song. It's really interesting. I thought with the lyrical content and feeling of the song, a nice Indie record would be perfect with alot of bass instruments and percussion's. In the end I have become very proud of this track because I got back to a place that I have already passed, and being able to get to that point when I am in a totally different place. This is for the fans who wanted to know how I really felt after my last break up.

I've been recording this for people to enjoy and overcome just like I've and I'm so glad someone like you is appreciating what I am doing, really. Thanks so much.

Mark: I was kinda shocked earlier this week when I heard that this guy was allegedly talking bad about me. I was glad that it wasn't true though. This sort of album is exactly why I cited James Urie as one of my influences really. You are carving a trail for us all with top class indie rock. I' enjoying what I've heard from this album. Very interesting, and definitely up there as the best of your work. It's deep. That's what I like.
