TRACK 1: Reckless

The sound of a murmuring slowly fades in, along with the tinkling and clinking of glasses. Faintly, a piano can be heard in the background. There's a squeal of feedback from a microphone, and someone can be heard clearing their throat loudly.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to L'âne Riche, the hippest club Vancouver has to offer. My name is Zander, and I'll be your emcee for tonight."

Zander's voice is crisp and formal, and the crowd responds mildly.

"Now, for your sonic pleasure, a collection of fetid home recordings by yours truly...now, open this fucking pit up!"

There's the sound of an explosion, and the song finally begins with a heavy, groovy tremolo picked guitar riff accompanied by thundering tom rolls and rumbling bass. The song is extremely fast, and frantic synthesizers back the pummeling one-two punch of guitar and bass. When Zander's vocals come in, instead of being screamed as expected, they are sung with bravado, in his commanding tenor voice.

all your hate! all your hate!
give me all your hate!

watch me break! watch me break!
everything is waste!

The chuggy guitar and bass lines turn to powerful chords for the two lines that serve as a chorus, Zander's voice finally going over the edge as he hits some of the highest, raspiest screams he's ever done.

recklessness!
i've got nothing left!

An overwhelming breakdown of alternating guitar riffs serves as a bridge between the more mellow chorus before returning to the frantic main riff of the song for the next verse and chorus,

time to ache! time to ache!
pain will help create!

by the way, by the way,
all is in it's place!

recklessness!
i've got nothing left!

There is a bone-crushingly heavy bridge part, the guitar and bass merging to create one huge, sludgy sound as symphonic keys and a demonic sounding choir chant come in the background. The instruments all swell in volume until near noise before returning to the main riff for the last verse,

point and laugh! point and laugh!
in life i finished last!

misery! misery!
creative energy!

so don't get mixed up!
don't think i give a fuck!

There is a coda, which is a quagmire of tremolo picking, muddy bass, frantic drum fills and garbled synth noises as Zander screams the last lines at the top of his lungs,

reckless!
reckless!
relentless!
eternal!
hatred!

There is a loud crash and the song ends abruptly.

TRACK 2: Dracula

The song begins immediately, with a fuzzy, distorted guitar line. The song has an almost garage-rockish type sound, with less of the wall of sound production that Zander uses on most of his songs. After a few seconds of just the guitar chugging, Zander's vocals come in, powerful and theatric, and a second guitar echoes the cadences of the lyrics,

oh! eyes are on you now
you seem to draw a crowd
underneath the shade
oh! fight until you die
you made the children cry
why must you misbehave?

With a crash, the drums and bass come in, backing the rocking groove of the two distorted guitars,

no! i am not alone
who can i call my own?
who can i make mine?
woah! it kills me when you're gone
my forgotten sun
oh but i'm so cold

The simple guitar chugging turn to epic chords as Zander sings the soaring chorus,

suck blood to get higher!
you were always my favorite vampire!
dracula!

with hatred as your fire!
you always get me higher!
dracula!

The verse part returns, Zander's voice getting more powerful with each line,

owch! burned into my skin
tatoo of my sin
sinking deeper in
light! blinds me everywhere
outside, i don't dare
but do you smell burning hair?

the sun makes me perspire!
my blood pressure gets higher!
you were always my favorite vampire!
oh why can't we be friends - dracula!

All the instruments but the guitar and drums drop out, as they play a simple, repetitive beat. It seems to be building to a climax, slowly getting more tense, before returning to the verse/chorus part

why! why, why, why oh why!
did you have to die?
did i have to live!
hate! stupid fucking hate!
i only took the bait
i should be in bed by eight!

the rush of getting higher!
my family members conspire!
you were always my favorite vampire!
oh, how i wish i was higher! dracula!

The song slowly fades out.

Zander: it appears both of us are walking paradoxes...a canadian who doesn't play hockey, and an asian former-cheerleader. I say we form an alliance. think of the possibilities! ....seriously, think of some, because at the moment I'm just riffing.

erica:*crosses her arms and narrows her eyes* you're all right, gray. we form an alliance based on general disdain for everyone else.

nina:she still has the outfit,love.

erica:that is only for natycakes. i've gotten slightly taller,so its VERY short.

nina:uh,thats nice, love. but i was offering it to zander,a bald man in a cheerleader outfit would be a killer album cover!

TRACK 3: Freeway

A three count on a hi-hat preludes the opening guitar riff, which is monstrous, rolling, and echoed. Plodding drums and a rumbling bassline back the very organic sounding sounds. Zander's voice is powerful, multitracked, and echoed,

this world is mine
at least for now

that girl was mine
i'll live somehow

this van is mine
i'll sleep for now

guitar is fine
at least for now

and all i am, is all i can...

be

He holds the last line, 'be', over the rolling guitar riff, which continues without vocals for a bit until the second verse starts,

my earth is fine
at least for now

my friends are mine
at least for now

my brain reclines
inside my head

on rainy days
i'll stay in bed

and all we are, is all we are

The guitar shifts from playing the pleasant but heavy riff into a jarring, angular one that's accented by synths and rainstorm sounds. Zander's voice returns, screaming this time, not with anger, but enthusiasm,

why can't we feel...

its heart! its beat!
it's love! can't be beat!
it tastes - so sweet!
we eat it's meat!

The main riff returns, the rain sounds going away,

my earth will die
but not right now

i'll drive on by
old hope for now

and all we are, is all
lonely!

The instruments fade out, until it's just a single acoustic guitar playing a simple arpeggio. A flute comes in, signifying deep peace, as Zander sings the last lines, soothingly and softly,

if only you knew
the lonely truth
of the canadian freeways

TRACK 4: Wavewatching

The song begins with an echoed, huge sounding riff that resonates alone for a few seconds, before a solid drum beat comes in with a pulsing bass line. The trio get a groove going, and then Zander's vocals come in, soft but intense,

never alone, i'm never alone
amongst the foam and sea and surf
running away, running away
don't let the sun set on my face

so go into the water

As the guitars rise in intensity, so does Zander's voice as he screams the chorus,

watch the waves! watch the waves!
hide from the cruelty of the day
watch the waves! watch the waves!
i'll wait for the waves to take me away

The guitar drops out as the drums and bass groove together for a bit before they return along with Zander's voice,

look how they churn, look how they churn
my brow begins to burn
bake in the heat, bake in the heat
addicted to the taste of meat

going away, going away
can't hide my ugly face
passing away, passing away
off the deep i dive today

There's a short breakdownish part before the chorus returns, heavy and abrasive, with orchestral synths in the background,

watch the waves! watch the waves!
let them take me away!
rue the day! rue the day!
the waves came and took me away

There's a heavy instrumental bridge, as the guitars and drums seem to battle it out. The larger than life sounding riffs seem to flow like the ocean, and the symphonic synthesizers add an epic atmosphere. There's a crash as the instruments reach their peak, and they slowly fade away, leaving a single guitar playing a muted, jarring, but eerily calm riff ass Zander's vocals return soothingly,

and the sun is just a spotlight
above this azure blanket
and the salt gets in my eyes
there's pain in my paradise
cold to numb the pain
bitterness goes away
and we all mentally endure
and there's no more bitterness
cleansed by the sea and salt
siphoning out the rancid nectar of my soul
i'm finally at peace
amongst the waves

only the lonely watch the ocean

The instruments and vocals are slowly drowned out by the sounds of seagulls and the ocean.

TRACK 5: Divine

VOCAL KEY
Zander = italics
Choir Vocals = blue
Zander + Choir Vocals = green

The song kicks in immediately, a crushing double bass drum part, symphonic synths, heavy bass, and a chugging guitar riff. The vocals are split between Zander and a choir, which add an almost gospel-like feel to the hard rock song. The production is huge, a gigantic wall of sound that is meant to destroy inferior speakers

live! live! live!
live! live! live!

After the intro part, the instruments slow down, the drums keeping the beat. There's a sing-a-long friendly part with chanted choral vocals, each word punctuated with a crash and a synth hit,

life! ...is! ...beautiful!
life! ...is! ...beautiful!

The chugging intro guitar riff returns, along with the introductory vocals,

live! live!

say you love!

The sing-a-long part returns, this time with Zander's shouted vocals accompanying the choirs,

life! ...love! ...beautiful!
life! ...love! ...beauty!

The chugging guitar returns as Zander and the choir chant the lyrics fervently,

life! long! live! love!
life! long! live! love!

love eternal, love eternal,
love, love, love eternal!

All of the instruments but the drums and the chugging guitar drop out and slow down for a passage, as Zander sings, utilizing his full vocal range,

my voice tells me
we all will fall in love

my love tells me
we all will fall from grace

The instruments once again speed up for the repetitive chanting,

life! long! live! love!
life! long! live! love!

love eternal, love eternal,
love, love, love internal!

There is a bridge, with swirling synth sounds, flanger heavy guitar, and the choral vocals overwhelming everything else in the mix,

oh my god!
zen! zen!
zen! zen!

Another slower passage, where Zander's vocals hit their peak as he screams with enthusiasm,

never fear love!(love!?)
never love fear!(no!)
never fear love!(no!)
(born and raised!)

never fear love! (love!?)
never love fear! (no!)
never fear love! (no!)
(born and raised!)

life! long! live! love!
life! long! live! love!
love eternal, ah, eternal
i'm, i'm, i'm internal!

The instruments all build to a fever pitch as Zander yells,

i know my way
and you know your way
we'll all find our own way!

never fear love!
never love fear!
never fear love!

oh, baby!

never fear love!
never love fear!
never fear love!

oh, babe!

The guitar gets heavier, chuggier, and the orchestral/symphonic synths saturate the atmosphere as Zander screams along with the choir until the song, and the EP, ends abruptly.

divine!
divine!
divine!
divine!
divine!

divine!
divine!
divine!
divine!
