Adele: It's the same way with being French. You have to wear the little berets and smoke long cigarettes, and sleep with everybody you meet.

Destinee: Nobody does that in France.

Adele: Yeah, but we have to do it in America to keep up the image!

TITLE: A Flatline Blur
BY: Destinee Girard/Adele Gillet
GENRE: Indie rock, folk rock, alternative rock
LABEL: Liberation/Nomad Records

The song starts off with a mellow acoustic guitar being played. The song has a very relaxed, almost depressing feel to it, as if the singers have given up on life, and are just getting out their life story before they die. It's an odd choice for the first song on the album, but DESTINEE&ADELE are anything but an ordinary band. Adele's lower pitched voice comes in first, as she sings about the depressing idea of the people that you think are your friends avoiding you. When Destinee's higher pitched, almost operetic, voice joins in in the fourth line of the first verse, the song takes on an even more depressing style. Both of their voices mixed together takes on the feel of a church choir. As Destinee begins the second verse, the sound of a violin starts to play along with the guitar. The violin plays a Southern soul sort of feel as Destinee's angelic, high voice sings about the awkward conversations that at least everybody has had once in their lives. The song remains the same tempo, but Destinee and Adele's voice pick up the pace in the third verse, as Adele starts it off, her voice perfectly incapsulating the image she is trying to portray in the first three lines; the image of a dark bar or cafe, where only lonely people stay. When Destinee starts to sing, her voice adds a sense of psychological anxiety. Although her voice is beautiful and pure, she sings about the strange actions that are associated with being alone for a long period of time. The song has taken on a slightly disturbing tone, even though the melody and beat have never changed. When Destinee and Adele sing the one line together, the unannounced combination of their voices is almost like a shot to the heart. The last two lines of the third verse have a sense of regret and "giving up" to them, both Destinee and Adele's voices going a bit lower as they sing their lines. There's a small instrumental break as the guitar continues on with it's painfully somber melody. A banjo being plucked joins in for a brief moment, giving the song another layer of lonliness that is associated with being in the deep South. Adele starts off the next verse, as she often does, with her deep, beautiful voice setting up the mood once again of an abandoned bar or restaurant where somebody is playing the piano. When both of their voices come together, the idea of "wordless words" and "nerves" become a choir event, reiterating the uselessness of life sometimes. The music seems to get softer when Destinee sings the last line of the fourth verse. The instruments continue on, as if they were playing out the song, when they suddenly all stop, and Adele sings, in almost a whisper, the last line of the song. There is one last note from the guitar, and the song ends.

My friends are working on avoiding me
So when we meet, I keep my mouth really busy
Talk out my nervous energy

It never works
I throw darts at the wall and get sloppy

But it's alright now
If I seem surprised, it's just a joke I'm trying out
But if it floats, I guess I'll keep it around

A woman gestures lazily
Through the hood in my eyes, I see her shaking her jewelry
It casts a perfect light on me

I feel moved, and that's strange
But lately, I've been acting really strangely
So it's alright now

I'm keeping distracted to blunt my reactions
And anyhow
You think less when there's less for you to think about

A paralyzed puppet sits stiff in the window
Grinding his teeth and playing piano
All his songs bleed together in a flatline blur

A broken litany of worthless words
Creating space while your drinks get served
I know it gets on your nerves

Just try to pretend like it's not work

[color=orange]A little denial never hurts

TITLE: You're My Incentive
BY: Destinee Girard
GENRE: Indie rock, folk rock
LABEL: Liberation/Nomad Records

There's a long pause between the first song and the second song before you hear Adele's voice begin with a piano playing with her, both of them beginning at the same time. The piano is playing an upbeat tune, and Adele and Destinee's voices are pretty bubbly, which makes the song (another song about loneliness and worthlessness) a little disturbing. While in the first song, Adele's deeper, somber voice dominated most of the verses, Destinee's higher voice shows off it's range. Destinee and Adele's own abilities to harmonize together is shown a great deal in this song as well. The song has a very drunken feel to it as they sing, a guitar softly strumming along with them in the second verse, and then a light beat of a drum joining in during the third verse. Before the beginning of the fourth verse, there's a small pause as all the instruments stop playing for a second, their final notes fading, and then immediately start back up again, this time a little bit heavier as the girls sing a bit louder. The song takes on a far more powerful feel to it for the last three verses as the girls sing, sounding almost frustrated and confused; even angry. In the sixth verse, as Destinee sings alone, Adele softly harmonizes with her in the background, her quiet "ahhh"'s adding a sense of rising action until the final line of the sixth verse, when they sing together. Between the sixth and seventh verse, there is a short guitar solo, in which the acoustic guitar that had been playing along with them becomes an electric guitar and plays an upbeat tune. While it plays that tune, the drums continue to play their soft, never-stopping beat, which gives the guitar solo, although a supposed happy one, a feeling of false joy and security. As the next verse begins, that same feeling of false happiness stays with it, both Destinee and Adele's voices sounding hesitantly happy as they sing. In the very last line, they both sing, "You're my incentive," and the instruments stop playing, their notes fading out as Destinee and Adele sing "and if you go, I go, too" in a pseudo-a capella state. There's about ten seconds of listening to the last notes of the instruments fade out before the song ends and goes into the next song.

Your bearings are shot
And your car doesn't work like she used to
Your friend don't call, and they don't even bother

With offering excuses

Your TV is on, but it's always on
So it's useless
It's just the awful news and the sorry truth

That we're definitely sinking

So I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you
You'll just hurt your chest, and your face will turn bright blue
This is how it's going to be, this is how it's going to be
This is how it will be, and there's nothing that we can do
And if you start believing that, I'll stop holding my breath, too

You've been praying for change
But you haven't seen a church since the tenth grade
You cry at your job, don't believe in your vote

And never celebrate your birthday

So you set up a dinner to make you feel
Less desperate, and worthless

But your dad gets drunk, so your mom throws a fit
While your old man hits on the waitress

So I wouldn't waste my time, if I were you (Ahhhhh....)
You'll snap your spin and strip away your youth (Ahhhhh....)
This is how it's going to be, this is how it's going to be (Ahhhhh....)
This is how it should be, and there's nothing that we can do

Yeah, and if you start believing that, I'll stop wasting my time, too
Yeah, and if you start believing that, I'll stop wasting my time, too
You're my incentive, and if you go, I go, too

TITLE: Ballgame
BY: Destinee Girard/Adele Gillet
GENRE: Indie rock
LABEL: Liberation/Nomad Records

This song was DESTINEE&ADELE's first single before they finally figured out what direction they wanted to go with their music. When they first released this song, it had a much heavier sound to it -- almost emo sounding -- but they decided while choosing the songs for their debut album that they wanted to revamp it, and make it more the style that they are singing now. So this is the redone style of Sitting In a Bar Alone, now titled Ballgame. The song definitely has more of a rock feel to it, as oppose to the first two songs on the album, which were mainly very folk sounding. The girl's voices are very fast paced throughout the song, and the beat is very intense, making the song seem that much more different from the other two songs. It's a welcomed change, of course, as the song is still on a depressing topic (not being good enough, never knowing how to change), but it just doesn't sound as depressing as the two other songs. The song continues at this standard, heavy beat, the song almost kind of monotone until the line, "and then I say," when there's a small pause and Adele sings "Daniel, I wish you luck," a cappela, with the beat joining back in with the song in the very next line. At the end of the song, the intense melody suddenly stops, and it goes into the standard DESTINEE&ADELE slower tune, although with the same notes being played.

A good girl doesn't drink
And I've been drinking alone

So what does that make me?
My hands, they always shake

And no one's calling my phone
So what does that make me?
I know the kid with his guitar, so drunk and anxious

It's been done to death, but tell me, what hasn't?
I'll try it
Because I'm selfish enough to want to get better

But I'm backwards enough to not take any step to get there
And when you realize it's a pattern, and not a phase
It's what you've become and it's what you will stay
That's the ballgame
Because I don't have room in my life for anyone else
And I've driven away all the people that can help
And I still don't even know what I need to do to fix myself

There's a clamp around my chest that tightens

Every time I lapse into another sorry story
About my miserable collapse
A brown box I keep encased in glass and dust off whenever I want your pity

Because lately I've had to come to grips with scope and figure
How my problems stack up in a world two steps from ruin
Or maybe it's rapture
Well, either way, I relize that my shit's about as small as it could be

But that makes me feel worse for even feeling bad in the first place
Because there's a war starting soon and all the flags will be waving
Daniel's twenty years old, and will be ready, and willing, and waiting
He's a marine, he told me
And it makes me really really fucking sad
But at least he'll act
I'll just bite my tongue and then say,

"Daniel, I wish you luck,
I'll pray that you come back, for your mother's sake,"
And then I'll drink those thoughts away
I've gotten good at that

Because when you realize it's a pattern and not a phase
It's what you've become, and it's what you will stay
That's the ballgame.

TITLE: Tapdance
BY: Adele Gillet
GENRE: Indie rock, emo, alternative rock
LABEL: Liberation/Nomad Records

Adele takes the wheel in the writing of this song, showing the almost drastic difference between her writing and Destinee's. Destinee's music can said to be much more upbeat and happy, but Adele has the ability to properly mix their voices together for the perfect sound. This song is considerably slower than the others, which seems odd since the other songs deal with much more depressing topics than this one does. While the other songs mostly deal with topics of loneliness and pain, this song is much more about the daydreams you have to get away from the world, and the people that you think about when you have those daydreams. Adele and Destinee's voices act as one voice throughout the song, with Adele singing the lower notes and Destinee singing the higher notes. Throughout the song, they often finish each other's scentences or sing parts of each other's, giving the song a feeling of one person singing with a very large range. The song starts with a single acoustic guitar, played by Adele, who has played for years. There is a thirty second intro played only by the guitar, introducing both the slow rhythm of the song and the depressing state of it. When Adele and Destinee begin singing, their voices are strong, but emotionless, almost monotone. In the third verse, a piano, played by Destinee, begins to play along with the guitar. The piano plays the same slow rhythm, but at a much higher note. The guitar and piano seem to be almost mimicing their player's voices as they go on. When Destinee and Adele sing together, their voices go up, Destinee's voice remaining a very high soprano while Adele takes on a high alto sound, both of their instruments mimicing that as well. They continue on this same rhythm until they are about to begin their seventh verse, beginning with "And I scrape you." There's a break between the sixth and seventh verse, where the piano and guitar suddenly are joined by a drum, with speeds up the rhythm quite a bit, although the guitar and piano's melodies have not changed. When Destinee and Adele sing with the drums, their voices are full of emotion and strength. The song goes out with a blast as they sing with all their hearts the next lines. Destinee sings, "What if that's true, and I'm the only one who knows it?" and there's a crash of the cymbals as the song fades out, her voice fading out with it.

You get back here
You do it slowly
Do it calmly

Now don't be so angry

I have something
I've been chasing every day
Since I started walking

It just sits there
In the distance

It always flirts with the tips of my fingers

You thought that
You could love it
Until it touched you
And now you just want to stop it

Well, I'm sorry
It's not likely

It was here when you got here
And it'll be here when you're not here anymore

And then some days
I get lucky
I can focus and things are less shaky

And I scrape you
Off the pale moon
And I slip you
Into soft shoes

And we tapdance
To a jazz band
On a cruise ship
Near an island

And my hair's up
I wear a short dress
And a wide smile
Our movements are careless

It's a daydream
I keep having
To make the clocks move

While I'm working

Or a bad joke
I can't sit through
And I smile because I feel like I have to

But if you'd look under the table
You'd see I'm playing with my knife
I'm slicing stripes into my kneecaps

And I'm struggle just to come off as polite

We could be a snapshot framed and hung like a portrait
What if that's true, and I'm the only one who knows it?

Mark: Destinee and Adele? It's like a double treat or everyone huh? I like you girls and the way you've come into the industry without all the fuss and crap that some people rely on. If I had to choose a song, I'd say "Not Over You Yet" is my favourite from the album so far. You two work really well together :)

OOC: Yet more nice work from you :) I admire the way you manage to get so many songs out and they always make for a great read :)

Mark: Destinee and Adele? It's like adouble treat or everyone huh? I like you girls and the way you've come into the industry without all the fuss and crap that some people rely on. If I had to choose a song, I'd say "Not Over You Yet" is my favourite from the album so far. You two work really well together :)

OOC: Yet more nice work from you :) I admire the way you manage to get somany songs out and they always make for agreat read :)

OOC: Thank you so much, Scott. :)

Adele: Aw... Marky thinks we're adorable... ;) well, I think you're rather adorable as well, sweetie.

Destinee: Thank you, Mr. Talley. You're very sweet.
