Aimée Rose Speaking on Her Upcoming E.P./Album, Tour With Mark Talley, And Her Personal Life

UserPostedImage

Earlier this year in January marked the arrival of Aimée Rose when she released her debut single 'Moving Mountains'. Then came the release of her second single 'When It Rains'. Both singles proved to be a success; peaking in the top ten on the charts. Now, the singer is readying the release of her debut E.P. (extended play) 'Visions' on March 17th, 2013; while the full-length LP isn't too far down the road. To also add to the list; in her short career that only took off two months ago, she already performed at the Chaos Awards last month. It's no doubt that Aimée is making a name for herself in the industry.
In this interview, the heartbreak singer opens up about her where the inspiration to write songs like her two debut singles came from. Rose also discusses with us her feelings about her instant success and her upcoming tour with rock icon Mark Talley - including details about her personal life behind the cameras as well.

The Interview

Since releasing your first single, you've tasted a sip of success after it peaked in the top ten on both the Airplay and Digital Charts. How were you able to cope with this written success so early on in your career?

It's been quite weird for me in all honesty. At first, I couldn't believe the news of the success of my first single. I wouldn't say that I couldn't grasp the fact that my first single was a success, but it took me quite a while to wake up and come to realiziation that all of the success that has been coming my way recently was really happening. Nonetheless, this certainly was not an overnight success.

Your upcoming extended play is predicted to be a success in the eyes of many. Do you stand to believe this and what are your expectations for this release?

I dunno. I can't really say. Part of me wants to believe that it wouldn't be much of a success since it's only an extended play. However, there have been many kinds of releases similiar to this release that have actually found success recently. But to be completely truthful, I don't have any clear expectations for this release.

What comes next after the release of this new E.P.? When the actual album is out, will there be a tour in support of it?

After the release of this E.P. I will be releasing just one last single off of it and then hopefully in a few months I'll be readying the release of the official lead single off of the actual album. That's when I find everything will really start for me; because only then will I be doing more interviews and start the promotional campaign for the actual album. As for a tour in support of the album, I have been in talks about that kind of ideal idea. The idea of touring was always a brilliant idea to me because I've been performing at many different places for a long while now and I'm quite used to that. Hopefully I can at least headline my first tour whenever my second album is released - and I don't see that happeneing in a long while.

Later on this month you'll be hitting the road to tour with Mark Talley on his mini-tour around the U.K. How has it come to you that you'll be touring with one of the biggest names in music?

I'm completely delighted and thrilled to tour with Mark. He's a really nice and modest person. It's really just an honor to get to tour with him and I couldn't ask for anything more at this time.

Many people admire and adore you for being an artist who doesn't care about being a size one. Did you face any obstacles when you first attempting to break into the industry due to not being a size one?

Yes I have, of coarse. When I first started singing, it was around a period of time in music where basically most female singers had to have some sort of image in order to sell according to many. So when I first started off singing, many people turn their backs and shook their heads at me. Everyone just had this mindset in their heads that I had to perceive a certain image to sell. I just never bought that from anyone and in fact, that even motivated me to push myself to achieve all what I wanted to be.

Failure is always something that lurkes. Does the thought of failure ever scare you?

It depends really. Like if I were to release an album that didn't really sell to my expectations or so, I wouldn't really care or pay attention to that. The kind of failure that does frighten me is messing up on stage when I'm performing. Failure on stage is something that always frightened me. You could ask anyone who I'm close with. I admit that I have severe stage fright. Somehow though, when I'm actually performing the fear of slipping up fades.

When it comes down to writing songs, do you write to please the general audience or do you begin writing from a platform of what goes on in your life?

When I write songs, I never do so to please the mainstream crowd in order to gain a number one. I don't do that and I won't do that. I won't and I'm not criticizing that kind of songwriter though. Every time I sit down and write something, it always has something to do with my every day life or about what's running through my mind. I'm not saying that I would write a song about how I hate the color of my nail polish or whatever. But it just has to be based on something that impacted my life in a way that it motivated me enough to write a song about it.

What's the main theme of 'Visions' and how were you inspired to write the material?

Love and heartbreak is the main theme of the album. I was greatly inspired to write this entire record from an experience I've had in my previous relationship. Basically, the album is about being emotionally broken after a failed relationship that I previously had some time ago. And again, this is like what I said earlier abut only writing about what goes on in my life and what has impacted me.

How has that specific break-up change and impact your life?

It just helped me to come to a realization that the ones that you actually claim to be your 'love' and the one that you give your heart too can actually hurt you. Not physically, but emotionally. That kind of experience definitely helped me to be more precautious of who I pour all my love too. It made me a stronger person altogether.

Five years from now; what would you want to have accomplished by then?

Although I'm not rushing it all; I hope to have my second album released within that time period. Also, I want to continue creating music and to continute to live and enjoy life.

Can you picture yourself in another relationship within five years?

Eh, I dunno if you ask me. I'm now feeling like I'm recovering from my last one but if I feel like I've met the right one then why not? I will be a bit more cautious like I said before. But I guess I can picture myself in another relationship within five years - depending on how things go. In five years I will be 28 years old by then so I'd love to be settled by then.

And last but not least; will you continue writing material five years from now?

I most certainly will. I can't see myself retiring from music at such a young age. I can tell you that.

Chatting and getting to know you was great. I hope we cross paths once more down the line.

It was certainly a pleasure being here. I'm thrilled to have gotten a chance to be interviewed by Billboard. Fank you!

Aimée: Thank you very much Scott! Without Chaos' support, I would have never been able to take part in this interview. Thank you so much!

@Mark Aw, thanks love! Thanks for having me come along. This will be such a great experience and I'm honoured to be hitting the road with you.

Jennifer: I can really see you in this industry long term which is not something I can say about a lot of artists. You're so unique and it's not over-the-top uniqueness that sets you apart, it's the fact that you have this amazing voice, humbled spirit, and pure genuineness about you. I hope I can see you on tour some time!

OOC: Good job on this also :)

Kourtney: I'm very excited about your upcoming releases and touring with Mark Talley. I'm sure you must be overflowing with excitement! You can count on me to be at one of the shows. I wouldn't miss it for anything in the word. We share the same feelings about being afraid to mess up on stage. I think about that all the time, I know I shouldn't but it just happens you know. Usually, as you said also, once you get up there in front of the crowd and perform it all seems to go away. Best feeling in the world if I do say so myself. Anyway, I'm so glad that you've found your place in the industry and I wish you the best of luck. :D

Ooc: Fine job on the interview. :)
