ACT IIt is an ordinary in the Pharaoh and his Queen’s Castle. Queen Isis is the Queen of all Egypt, loved for her beauty and diva like. However with all the power, money, and respect of her country she is dissatisfied with her life. Her marriage is in shambles, and she wants out. Like her fellow Egyptians, Queen Isis is held down and oppressed by the power of her husband, Pharaoh Shabaka. Currently there is a revolution uprising in Egypt. Many protesters are against the “dictatorship” that Pharaoh Shabaka has instilled upon the community.
Pharaoh Shabaka is a nasty creature. He is very arrogant and self-serving. However he is also very disloyal, especially to his wife. In many countries in Africa, it is custom that a man can marry up to as many wives he can afford. However that is not a custom in Egypt and is frowned upon. Not wanting anymore enemies than he already has, Pharaoh Shabaka cheats on his wife Queen Isis with many of the local girls of the village.
Queen is missing that twinkle in her eye, and spark in her life. Many of the help in the Queen’s castle begins to take notice of how passive she’s become and the unhappy tone of bore in her voice. She is trapped in not only a marriage, but a dictatorship she doesn’t want to be in. She needs something to uplift and liberate her, as well as the people of Egypt.
Present Day
The protestors have been rioting outside of the castle; however gates protect the castle from being vandalized. Queen Isis is found roaming the halls of her home, looking at old artifacts. Her friend, a worker in the house, ask her what’s wrong. Queen Isis takes her friend, Siti into a tomb to talk. Queen Isis sits down miserably.
Siti: Isis
Translation: [Queen Isis, what is wrong? You been really down lately, not the same anymore, you dont smile. You don't talk to us anymore. There are two hundred protesters outside and you seem unbothered. Your not yourself baby.]
Queen Isis: اريد الخروج
Translation:[I want out]
Siti: عن ماذا? ماذا نتكلم?
Translation:[of what? what you talking?]
Queen Isis: هذا استعينى بالذكريات الرومانسية قبل الزواج. انا مغادرة الشبكة.
Translation:[This marriage. I’m leaving Shabaka]
Siti: لا يمكنك ذلك. سيتم المبعدين في حال كنت تركته. وستكون الطريقة الوحيدة تخرج على السقف إذا أراد أن تمر او الاستقالة.
Translation:[You can't do that. You will be exiled if you left him. The only way you would come out on top if he'd were to pass or resign.]
Queen Isis: انى مستعد المجازفة. لا استطيع التعامل مع هذا. اريد ان اكون سعيدا. و بقدر ما احب الناس, الملكة, لكننى لا استطيع ان الملكة.
Translation:[I'm willing to take that risk. I can't deal with this any longer. I want to be happy. And as much as I love my people and being Queen, I can't be his Queen any longer.]
Siti is about to talk but Pharaoh Walks in. She leaves them to talk in private and leaves the room. Pharaoh Shabaka gives his Queen a kiss. She turns away.
Pharaoh Shabaka : My Queen, what do you want to do today?
Queen Isis: [Looks at him and rolls her eyes] There are hundreds of rioters outside our castle and you want to do something. What possibly do you want to do?
Pharaoh Shabaka: This is my village, I am free to go outside, and anywhere I want for that matter.
Queen Isis: [Laughs hysterically] Outside? To the village? So you can fool around with your whores. I know of the games you play.
Pharaoh Shabaka: [Kisses Queen on her shoulder] You are my only Queen remember that. Those other girls don’t matter.
Queen Isis: [Quickly flinches when he kisses her] I don’t care what you do with them. I’m not your slave and neither are those rioters outside. I suggest you make it right, or they will eventually overthrow you.
Pharaoh Shabaka: I am the Pharaoh of this land, everyone will do as I say.
Queen Isis: All except me.
Pharaoh Shabaka: My love, Isis. [He grabs her by the waist]
Queen Isis: [Walks away, displeased by him touching her. She looks bored. She turns around and says] Shabaka this is getting old and I have better things to with my time than invest in foolishness. Take me to the main to be entertained.
Pharaoh Shabaka: [Wanting to please his Queen] Then to the main we go.
Act II
The Queen and Pharaoh sit in the main on their thrones. The workers follow them to the main.
Queen Isis: [Sighs]
A female worker comes up and pours them a drink, The Queen notices how her Pharaoh gazes at her. She ignores it. Pharaoh Shabaka smiles innocently at the Queen as she looks annoyed.
Queen Isis: I’m bored. I came down here to be entertained. Can my Pharaoh entertain me? [The Queen says very sarcasticly]
Pharaoh Shabaka sips his drink and smiles at his Queen. He claps for the workers to find her entertainment. Queen Isis rolls her eyes unimpressed.
One of the workers presents the entertainment.
Worker: [Yells] BEHOLD PHARAOH AND QUEEN RAMSLEY, I BRING TO YOU THE STICK MAN!
The “stick man” walks out and begins to entertain. He begins to juggle three wooden sticks in the air. The Queen still appears to be bored. When the “Stick man” is done with his trick he bows to the Pharaoh and Queen, smiling. The Queen is unimpressed, she says modestly,
Queen Isis: [Flings her hand to the workers modestly] Feed him to the lions.
The stick man looks astonished, thinking the Queen would love his trick. But the castle workers grab ahold of him to throw him to the lions. The worker then brings out another entertainer
Worker: [Astonished by the Queen, wipes his forehead] Pheeeeew, Okay. PRESENTING THE FIRE MAN!
The fire man begins to blow flames from two sticks he has in his hands. The flames are bursting in the air. The fireman then sticks the fire lit sticks in his mouth. And the fire disappears. The Queen still bore, signals for the workers to throw him to the lions with a cold look in her eye.
Worker: [Laughs and looks down] Oh, that’s cold [He whispers]
A man walks up in a robe. A mysterious man. The Queen looks intrigued. You cannot see his face, his robe drapes over it. Pharaoh Shabaka laughs,
Pharaoh Shabaka: And what is it you’re going to do?
The mysterious man reaches in his pocket and sprinkles black gravel on the ground. He walks up to it. The gravel turns to gold and he vanishes only his clothing appears. All the workers gasp in astonishment. Pharaoh Shabaka is astonished, Queen Isis is intrigued still. The gravel marvels up and then forms into a man dressed in all black attire with a gold pendant. He introduces himself as X
X: I’m X. I’m here to entertain the Queen.
The Queen begins to sweat. No one has seen her this enthusiastic in a while. She smiles and holds her chest.
[The beat for ‘Firecracker’ comes on]
The Queen and X eyes meet. They gaze at each other, infatuated. Pharaoh Shabaka doesn’t notices how the Queen looks at him. He looks at X mysteriously.
X: May I dance with the Queen, for entertainment purposes?
[He reaches out his hand for her. She obliges and grabs his hand.]
The Queen says anxiously,
Queen Isis: Yessss.
Pharaoh Shabaka apprehensive at first says,
Pharaoh Shabaka: Go on. You may.
X smiles as the Queen ignores Shabaka not even looking at him. She goes to dance with X. They begin to dance passionately.
[Intro]
My moment starts now Firecracker! My time to shine is now The brightest star of them all Firecracker! Explode! Erupt! Like a Firecracker My moment starts It’s my time to shine The whole world is mines
[Verse 1] I’m celebrating the rebirth of me Love and happiness just shines on me It just beams in and out of me Watch it rain and pour all over me I see everything with brand new eyes I’m taking it step by step I’m living for today I’m thankful for the new day So I’m taking chances Miss Jackson’s gonna show out I’ll blow up the whole spot I have finally shed out of my old skin Sing it to the world I’m blowing up Like a Firecracker!
X and Queen Isis begin to grind close to each other . Their pelvises are touching each other. Pharaoh Shabaka looks appauled. He rises out of his seat. But is intimidated by X. X then takes it a step further and kisses Queen Isis. She obliges. They kiss passionately. Pharaoh Shabaka hops up immediately and signals the guards to kill X. Queen Isis falls to the ground swept off her feet.
X: [Before the guards chase him] Meet me in the village he whispers to the Queen.
She obliges, nodding yes.
X runs and the guards chase him. The Pharaoh looks displeased with the Queen. He goes with the guards to capture X leaving the Queen in the main with the workers.
The Queen ask the workers for help. She runs to she and the Pharaohs room and begins to pack her bags.
[The music for ‘Firecracker plays]
She is packing her stuff and heading out of the village with X. She is finally leaving the Pharaoh.
[Chorus]
My moment starts now My time to shine The whole world is mine Firecracker The brightest star of them all I’m exploding, showing every color of me Firecracker! My moment starts now, my time to shine Firecracker! The whole world is mine, the brightest star of them all Firecracker!
[Verse 2]
I’m gonna be everything I want to be I’m showcasing it to the world That this girl is on fire I’m about to set ablaze I’m calling my own shots Taking control of all my affairs Yes, I’ve taken a stand I’ve been too bless to let hate fester in me I’m giving you nothing but love And positivity! This is how I feel!
[The Queen changes her clothes, the female workers help her change as do their dance break.]
She tells the rioters that she has left the Pharaoh and to dethrone him. They enter the castle looking for him. Meanwhile Pharaoh Shabaka and his guards are looking for X, however he has already escaped awaiting Queen Isis.
The workers then put Queen Isis on a horse and carriage to meet X. They wave her goodbye. She smiles, free from the Pharaoh and onto her new love. The rioters loot and tear up the house. They soon find Pharaoh and his guards. The guards protect Pharaoh Shabaka. The rioters soon kill all of his guards and Pharaoh Shabaka is left alone vs hundreds of rioters. Pharaoh Shabaka pleads and tries to work a deal with them. They don’t believe a word he says and the leader of the riot walks up to him with a machete, and beheads him. The Pharaoh is now decapitated and his dictatorship is now over, and they finally have a democracy.
The rioters cheer for their new found freedom. The workers leave the house and the rioters burn down the castle, finishing off their painful memories of Shabaka’s dictatorship. The workers free of Shabaka exit the house and rejoice for their new found freedom.
Queen Isis finally meets with X in the village.
A child walks up to her and ask, “Queen Isis, did you hear about Pharaoh Shabaka?”
Queen Isis: [Smiles at the child] He is no longer my concern.
The child: He was beheaded.
Queen Isis: Is that right?
Villagers gather. Queen Isis walks to X kissing him.
Queen Isis: Wellbeing that I wasn’t dethrone, I am still your Queen. And this dictatorship is over. We are a united front and we will remain one. I just heard the news of Pharaoh’s beheading. With that being said I still stand as your Queen, and this is our new Pharaoh. Introducing Pharaoh X. The villagers rejoice at the new Pharaoh and Queen. Crowds flood the streets because of the good news. Queen Isis dances with the crowd.
[Firecracker music plays]
[Chorus]
My moment starts now My time to shine The whole world is mine Firecracker The brightest star of them all I’m exploding, showing every color of me Firecracker! My moment starts now, my time to shine Firecracker! The whole world is mine, the brightest star of them all Firecracker!
[Instrumental Interlude]
[Chorus]
My moment starts now My time to shine The whole world is mine Firecracker The brightest star of them all I’m exploding, showing every color of me Firecracker! My moment starts now, my time to shine Firecracker! The whole world is mine, the brightest star of them all Firecracker!
[Outro]
My, My, My My moment starts now, my time to shine Fireeecrackerrr!
