Artist: Tisha Jackson & James Urie Song: Love Me I’m Yours written by: T.Jackson, J.Urie Produced by: Tisha Jackson Genre: Pop, Soul, R&B Length: 4:10 Recorded: February 28, 2013
Tisha Jackson is playing no games when it comes to her seventh studio album, ‘The Highway To Redemption’. The album has already spawned a No.1 hit with its first single, ‘Firecracker’. The Dance number hit No.1 earlier this year. And now Tisha is ready to strike up that magic again with a duet with Rocker, James Urie called, ‘Love Me I’m Yours”
‘Love Me I’m Yours” will serve as the second official single off of Jackson’s, ‘The Highway To Redemption’, and it will also appear on Urie’s upcoming album as well. This is the first ballad the Pop-Princess has released in a long time. ‘Love Me I’m Yours” is a love song about a young couple who both had bad experiences in love previously, and are resistant to love, but somehow love brings them together and it becomes an undeniable force between them. It’s sure to stir up some excitement between both Jackson’s and Urie’s massive fan bases.
Background & Vocal Arrangements of ‘Love Me I’m Yours’
As with many of the tracks on Jackson’s upcoming album, ‘The Highway To Redemption’, she has an abundance of live instruments. ‘Love Me I’m Yours’ begins very modestly with a piano solo by Jackson. You feel the rawness of the track through the piano keys. Without giving too much away in the beginning, ‘Love Me I’m Yours’ modestly reveals itself as a love song. Unexpectedly as the piano is still playing, Tisha opens the song with the first verse. Her voice is in its classic low tone. Jackson’s voice ranges from the low tone of a F2 to the high note of an E6. The song begins to change its pace as Jackson continues with the first verse and the piano is played slightly faster and more aggressive. Jackson begins to give a venerable tone she talks about trying to “resist love, afraid of her “heart being broken again”. However while singing venerably, in a very womanly tone; she becomes more aggressive with her tone as the piano picks up. Tisha carries out the first verse with her voice getting deeper. As she comes to a close with the first verse she hits a high note, now singing in a pleading way to her partner.
Tisha closes out the first verse and opens the chorus. The tone of the piano gets louder as it is played more aggressively and the guitar is introduced to the background of the song. The piano continues to pick up its pace as the guitar is played VERY modestly in the background. Tisha sings the chorus in a very innocent way, which evokes the message of the song to new heights. She makes the chorus hers as she lets her partner know she is scared of being heartbroken but she is willing to take that risk because she loves him so deeply. Tisha then closes out the chorus belting out in a very, deep, rich tone, “Love me I’m yours”.
The piano tones down as James Urie’s solo kicks off. He sings very venerably, similar to Jackson. He instead gives the perspective of a man in love. James sings with his upper register for most of the verse in a very light tone, evoking a innocence in his voice. The piano tone continues to lower as the bass of the guitar kicks up [more than what it was in the first verse]. Soon the guitar becomes more richer than the piano. Mainly to display the differences of how a woman loves, and how a man loves. The piano begins to kick up a bit more and is soon just as rich as the guitar, displaying that, at the end of the day, love is love and it has no gender and no limit. As the music maintains a steady pace, James picks up the pace as he finishes his verse. He uses the last couple of lines to answer all of Tisha’s question(s) in the first verse, assuring her his love his only for hers. As he closes his verse out he belts out, “King of hearts”. Something Tisha called him in the first verse.Urie begins to sing the chorus as the piano increases and he belts out the last verse, “Love Me I’m Yours.”
Tisha then opens up the bridge of the song which leads to the third verse. She begins to hit several high notes. Tisha and James then both begin to open up the third verse of the song. They do it in a very unexpected way, both singing the same lyrics. But they instead sing them to each other as if their their audience, giving each other a call and response. Tisha and James continue the third verse as they sing together both in very deep tones. Urie’s tone so deep that his voice is almost unrecognizable and Jackson’s tone so deep she begins to over-power Urie. As they close out the verse their voices begin to overpower the melody and they hit the same tone within their voices. They both hit high notes ending the third verse.
Tisha then begins to sing the chorus louder and more aggressive, however this time using her upper-register. You begin to feel every word Tisha sings as she breaks them down bit by bit. James then joins in on the chorus singing in a low tone as Tisha continues to break down every note bit by bit, making you feel the love and passion behind the lyrics. James and Tisha both sing in the same tone. As Tisha closes out the end chorus she belts out “Love Me I’m Yours” using her upper-register. She continues to belt out the end chorus and repeats, “Love Me I’m Yours. Jackson and Urie both end the chorus singing “Love Me I’m Yours” in a very light tone.
Jackson then hits the final high note as the song closes out and the guitar and piano fades.
Concept of ‘Love Me I’m Yours’
‘Love Me I’m Yours’ is a soulful ballad. It is a love song but not a traditional one, in the sense it isn’t upbeat and lovey dovey. Instead Jackson and Urie take you on a journey of a Woman in love and a Man in love. Tisha gives her account on love, proclaiming her love for Urie. You can tell she is proud to say she is in love with him. However she is hesitant to let go completely because she has been hurt before in the past. As she says in the song, “ My mind makes me feel resistant. But my heart keeps telling me go by your side, girl go”. Her mind is telling her to resist but instead she opts to listen to her heart and do what she desires, which is to continue loving him. Tisha uses the chorus to display her emotions towards Urie, saying he makes her feel like she’s “off from gravity”. She continues to proclaim her feelings for him calling him a “One in a million” and labeling his love, as “The purest form of ecstasy”. The resistance you heard in her voice towards love is now growing into assurance. And James continues to do that in his verse. James uses this verse to pour out all his feelings toward Tisha. And let her know how deep his love for her is. His lyrics are very simplistic but honest, which gives you a raw gritty feeling of how in love a man can be with a woman. James uses his verse to show that a man can be just as in love with a woman and a woman can be with a man if not deeper. James closes his verse assuring Tisha has his love and giving her the assurance that she can trust him with her heart and knowing he can trust her with his heart as well.
In the third and final verse, James and Tisha sing to each other. It brings you to present day as they both become enlightened of each other. You see that they’ve grown so much not only as a couple but as separate people. Growing to love themselves, realizing if they don’t love themselves then they can’t love each other or anyone else for that matter. The song becomes more confident as James and Tisha begin to evoke a confidence in their voice which is paralleled to their relationship now.
“Tisha’s Comments on “Love Me I’m Yours”
Quote:“I personally feel that this is my best ballad to date and I couldn’t have asked for a greater partner to duet with. I feel that everything meshes so well and James and I tell the story of what many couples have faced, young or seasoned. We tell the story of learning to love yourself so you can love others, because if we don’t love ourselves then how can our partners love us. Their love may feel like its filling a void but eventually all those problems will come to surface. So we just tell the story of how a man and a woman love each other deeply but they had to face many obstacles to get to the point of assurance they are at now. I told my story from the point of view of a woman being apprehensive to love her man because she doesn’t want her heart broken again. And with James side of the story he shows how a man can love a woman just as deeply if not deeper and how he can give that woman assurance. It just show to me, how sometimes life gets in your way, and when you reach your break-through, which may be falling in love, or something else, you realize why God put you through that. I feel that, “Love Me I’m Yours” is a universal song and can apply to ALL audiences because it shows love had no gender and no limits. I truly believe we all have the ability to love and fall in love we just have to love ourselves first before giving our all to someone. And that’s what the song is about.

sounds like:
[Verse 1]
Hearts racing out of control The days pass by; I get hungrier for your love I proclaimed you as my King of hearts You called me your Queen Cause you said my love was a charm I feel uproar inside of me; I wasn’t supposed to fall in love My mind makes me feel resistant But my heart keeps telling me go by your side, girl go
[Chorus]
Have you ever met someone who lifts you off from gravity? Make you feel out of this world A kindred soul One in a million It’s rare love like theirs is given The purest form of ecstasy I’m trusting you with my heart So love me I’m yours
[Verse 2]
The love is darting through my veins I'm feeling for this girl She's made my soul, my heart palpates I've went through life just wondering When she would could along So I could whip her off her feet She's my Queen, I've waited so long so long I hold her close to my body; As we watch the sun shine from high above Realizing that the smallest things feel better When you've found the one you love
There's just so many things about you Maybe it's something in the way you move Maybe it's the way you make me feel; Like a strong man ready to rule We're ready to start this monarchy One that involves you never being apart from me At first you weren't really sure how you felt about it But now you've finally realized we can be one high above it You've saved me from my pain and suffering; I've mended your broken heart It's crazy how we did the same for each other I'm your king of hearts, king of heaaaarts
[Chorus]
Have you ever met someone who lifts you off from gravity? Make you feel out of this world A kindred soul One in a million It’s rare love like theirs is given The purest form of ecstasy I’m trusting you with my heart So love me I’m yours
[Verse 3]
You’re like my fix, I’m hooked on You’ve filled a void, I thank God My angel in disguise The greatest love I had to learn to love myself Before I could give my all to you Because two incomplete’s can’t make neither one sufficed Now today, I can say I love you whole heartily
[Chorus]
Have you ever met someone who lifts you off from gravity? Make you feel out of this world A kindred soul One in a million It’s rare love like theirs is given The purest form of ecstaaaaaasy I’m trusting you with my heart So love me I’m yours
[Outro]
Love me, I’m yours
