Song Description We Ain't So Cool' is a song by Country artist Casey Johnson. The Star Factory runner up recorded this song in early March but did not finish it until late April. Marking her first ever single, Johnson took to her strong country influences and roots as well as a mixture of some Rock influence. The beat starts off with a strumming banjo that soon gets joined by a guitar and some foot stomps that rhythmically go with the drums. This continues for about 10 seconds until Casey sings with her strong yet light vocals over the beat. She immediately shows her attitude in the song, her bouncy and yet edgy vocals. She delivers with her sass and sings about how she will not forget the times that the singer's former lover treated her wrong. When she goes into the chorus, the catchiness of the lyrics draws the listeners in as it has the head nodding and fist pounding declaration of moving on from someone or something, Johnson declaring, 'I just hope I see, the look on your face/When you realize/We ain't so cool'. The next verse centers on Johnson's weariness of him attempting to come back into her life but she doesn't buy it and tells him that 'You think you can, keep coming back whenever you're ready to grow?/Boy, think again, my heart ain't open to you, you can just hit the road/I won't forget'. The same energy from the band continues to spread throughout the track, not letting up once in the chorus again. Casey's vocals are phenomenal as she shows a strong range and ability to control her strong and powerful voice. The ad libs and background singers assist in the song, backing her up with nice melodies.
During the bridge, the foot stomps come back, giving it the hard feeling it once had before after the catchy verses and choruses. Casey first shows a little remorse and sings with a little less fire as compared to the other parts of the song. This is where she allows herself to play with her vocals, exaggerating multiple enunciation and showing just how much a vocal beast she is. Her high vocals are incomparable and unmatched but just as well are her low notes she sings, quickly coming to a middle ground when she comes back to the regular notes. Although she doesn't hit a falsetto, Casey belts out the lines close to the ending of the Bridge, holding the note for a good 7 seconds before joining back in for the singing of the chorus. The heavily country rock influenced track makes for a wonderful empowerment anthem which seems to be the trend among young women in the business. She gives her all when singing the chorus once more, making sure to leave a lasting impression on the listeners from her first single. The band plays a few seconds after she finishes singing, ending on a loud foot stomp before abruptly ending.
"It's definitely an anthem! It's fun, it's cheesy, it's a good song. I wanted this to be my first single because it really shows what to expect from me when I make more music. I don't know what exactly I'll sing about for the rest of my career but it doesn't matter because I know that I'll be makin music for a while. I have all the time to worry about that. I thought I would like to put rock and country together because I do love both so much and now I know I LOVE it. It's just really a feel good song, not so much for the person it's about, but for me personally, I had fun recordin'. The single cover is supposed to be like some prom queen type girl who just rebelled and you can see how she just tore apart her dress and looks unhappy with it. This song to mean means that I'm not settlin' for anything and I'm definitely not cool with someone who just treats me any kind of way. All in all, it's just a fun record. It's not supposed to be serious or anything like that but it's supposed to be that record you put on when you're with your girls and you just wanna forget about all those bad boys out there!" - Casey Johnson
*Lyrics*
[Verse 1] I won't pretend, to paint a smile on my face when you've done me wrong I won't began, to let you get underneath my skin You lost a friend, in me if you think that I'll just forget I won't forget Part of me is sad that I'm movin' on But part of me is glad just to let you go I don't think you matter to me anymore Cause once you walk away, might as well keep going
[Chorus] And this is my bittersweet goodbye I won't lie, we had a good time It just wasn't good enough, no no And this is my realization, boy I'm finally waking up I just hope I see, the look on your face When you realize We ain't so cool
Ohhh, we ain't so cool Anymore, anymore
[Verse 2] It's a dead end, you can keep coming this way but you'll never pass You think you can, keep coming back whenever you're ready to grow? Boy, think again, my heart ain't open to you, you can just hit the road I won't forget All the times I helped you out, where would you be? But part of me just can't erase our history I don't think this matters to me anymore Cause once you walk away, might as well keep go-o-o-oing
[Chorus] And this is my bittersweet goodbye I won't lie, we had a good time It just wasn't good enough, no no And this is my realization, boy I'm finally waking up I just hope I see, the look on your face When you realize We ain't so cool
[Bridge] How can I expect to be happy, with you by my side? Once you stopped calling, I think I found my smi-i-i-ile, ohhh I wish you all the best, And in the end I know you'll get what you deserve But when you find yourself in trouble Don't come to-o-o me-e-e-e
Cause I didn't forget All the times you never considered how I felt Ohh, no-o-o
[Chorus] And this is my bittersweet goodbye I won't lie, we had a good time It just wasn't good enough, no no And this is my realization, boy I'm finally waking up I just hope I see, the look on your face When you realize We ain't so cool
I won't forget (I won't lie, we had some good times) I won't forget (But you'll never, ever, ever, see me cr-y-y) I won't forget (Ahh-ooh) I won't forget (Ahh-ooh) I just hope I see, the look on your face When you realize We ain't so cool

The fact that we write entire albums all on our own while the biggest stars in the world have 45 co-writers on ONE track?? Where the hell are OUR record deals and GRAMMYS?" -BrownSugar |
