"Immortal" is an E.P. (Extended Play) album by singer-songwriter and musician Stephanie Fierce set to be released on May 26, 2013 through the ownership of Hot Eye Records. The album was turned into an E.P. last minute due to change in direction of the album, therefore certain songs not making the cut for the vision. The EP comes shortly after the release of "Man Music"; which is the previous EP album that was released on December 9, 2012. The first EP, met with successful commercial success in comparison to previous albums "Love is Lust". Despite the success of the singles, Fierce unveiled in a personal interview that the release of "Love is Lust" was mishandled, leading to a "frustrating" experience throughout. The album's title "Immortal" had been revealed through a personal open letter Fierce had blogged as part of a New Years gift to her fans on December 31st 2012. The concept of the album was unveiled even further upon the release of an interview with GQ magazine were Stephanie discussed the inspiration of the album title and what fans may expect musically back in January of this year. Fierce went on to say that for the first time her very own haters inspired the title of one her albums through a song she had written. During the interview, the song was revealed to be "Insane", which the leading single off the new album. The album's concept simply demonstrates strength, love and power and overcoming your biggest obstacles in life therefore feeling "Immortal".

"I felt like "Love is Lust" was a frustrating release for me. Part of me felt like the record shouldn't have been released but at the same time I knew that I wanted my fans to not be disappointed. It was very confusing because I had two albums in my head at the time, and I couldn't really come to terms as to what I wanted, leading to a disorganized release. It was also a humbling experience for me because for the very first time in my career I experienced failure withing myself and that though me a lot. People expect me to be perfect and I'm not. I'm just as capable of making mistakes and wrong moves in my careers. But all of it thought me to be stronger and to be patient with whatever I do. The album also served as highway or a stepping stone for this album because if it wasn't for that experience, this album would of been very frustrating to release as well. Part of the reason I named the album "Immortal" is because I feel like I'm capable of doing what I love for the rest of my life. No matter what you do, you shouldn't feel limited or like you have some sort expiration date. With that being said, I could honestly open up and say that I do feel insecure sometimes because of what people have said about me, getting old, being washed up and having a child as if that were a bad thing. I am willing to admit that I have even felt hurt by certain things people have said about me. Even though I pretend like I’m this strong person all of the time, I’m not. I am cocky. Very cocky! But at the same time, I know I'm not perfect. People think that I am always this outspoken person. But there are things that I do hold back, there are things that I am afraid to speak about. I'm not just this strong person that people make me out to be, I have weaknesses and like any human, I can make mistakes. I have flaws. I could feel hurt by them. I think part of the reason I’m so defensive of myself, is because It reflects my insecurities as a person. I do cry at times, because it’s hard with all the pressure that is put against me. People have raised the bar and expectations and when you live your life trying to please everyone all the damn time, it gets to you. Immortal just represents the strength I've built throughout my career both as a person and as an artist. It's about embracing how youthful and powerful I feel inside. I feel like I could live forever recording this album. No matter how much success I see, no matter how much I sell, I've built a pretty strong empire and I will always strive for my best. I've gone into genres of music that many pop stars are afraid to go and I've fully embraced them live on tour. But like I said, I don’t think I’m perfect but I do feel like I do not have an expiration date and there’s much more to come. I have to live my life and I have to be happy. That's the feeling of being immortal."

The very first song recorded of the album was recorded at the luxury of her own home, where she was joined by Johnny Johnson and the Rockers for production purposes. The album in it's entirety however had been recorded in many locations while Stephanie Fierce was on the road on her "History Revealed" World Tour. While most of the songs where recorded when Fierce was on her tour bus trailer; in which she penned most of the songs as well, Fierce took some time off in Japan to write and record three of the tracks on the album at her own personal private owned music studio, which she had originally built for the recording of her third and fourth studio albums "Stephanie Fierce" and "Newborn". The use of the studio in Japan had an influence on the album's more bluesy songs. Also, for the first time since since the release of her first and second studio albums "The Past, the Present and the Future of Pop" and "Diary of a Pop Sinner", Fierce allowed high profile producers to join her on the production process of the album with comments and critiques and even present her with demo's of unfinished tracks they had been working on for other artist. However, Fierce made sure to be heavily involved in the mixing process of those tracks that were presented to her and she refused to accept anything that didn't organically start with her.

"For the first time in a long time, I felt like it was ok to bring in other people's ideas into my album. I can be very narcissistic when it comes to making my albums, so it was very hard at first but I think that's what brought new light to my music. For so long I've been creating these depressing albums and I felt like it was time to bring something new and something with a new energy and bringing in a fresh sound that brings happiness to me when I perform."

The album consists of many genres that are portrayed with a mainstream approach and most of the songs on the album have an urban touch or a fused with sounds that fit Fierce's style of music.

"My goal for this album was to create sounds that were captivating to the mainstream audience and general public, but also contained substance and definition that could be recognizable by an indie audiences. There's this current outburst of indie wannabe musicians in the industry and I definitely didn't want to follow that trend. The style of indie has always been living withing me, as many artist forget I started out as an underground indie pop artist, but I don't believe that something has to sound indie in order for it to be musically great. My goal was to create something that was unique but current enough to be called mainstream not indie and I'm ok with that".

Track 1:

Name: "Immortal"
Album: "Immortal" (EP)
Recorded: November 2012
Writer/Composer: Stephanie Fierce
Producer: Stephanie Fierce
Length: 2:08
Genres: Pop, Dream-Pop, Instrumental
Instruments: Guitar, drums and percussion
Record Label: Hot Eye Records

Song Description & Background:

"Immortal (Intro-lude)" is a the first song by American artist Stephanie Fierce taken from her second EP album "Immortal". The album is set to be released May 26th 2013, through the support of Hot Eye Records. The song was solely written and composed by Stephanie Fierce. The song also serves as the album's very first interlude, therefore being titled "Introlude", serving as some sort of introduction to the very elastically produced album. This is the first time that interludes have ever been included on any Stephanie Fierce album, showing a new creative direction in Stephanie Fierce's music that fans may enjoy. The song was composed around November 2012 and recorded inside Stephanie Fierce's tour bus trailer while she was on her "History Revealed World Tour".

Stephanie Fierce explains why the song contained only instrumental and how the idea of including interludes developed:

"I wanted to open up the record with an instrumental because I kind of wanted the fans to warm up to the album's sound before they could hear me sing. Very few of my albums contain instrumental pieces so this is not a common thing for my listeners, especially it being the opening track on the album. At first I wasn't sure how I was going to be able to do that because I had to keep a concept in mind, and I didn't want to make the album seem disoriented or out of place. As I developed the song, I started to write lyrics down but then decided last minute I didn't want lyrics for this song. So without me realizing I was creating an instrumental interlude, and I've never had interludes on any of my albums before. Being the open minded artists that I am, I decided to not shy away from that. I kept the album's title name in my mind when creating this record and it really came from a place of creativity and experimentation. There were times were I was tempted to write lyrics because the record was coming out pretty well, but I kept reminding myself that I wanted something different for my album and having interludes will offer my fans something new in terms of the track-listing of the album. What I also started to realize was that the song had a similar styling to one of my biggest songs in my career, "Dying In The Airwaves" where I for the first time made a continues guitar riff from scratch and evolved it throughout the recording process. At the same time I also feel like the record came from a place of happiness and positivity that I was experiencing after recording Insane, because that track had served as an outlet for me to relieve all anger and frustration I was experiencing at the time. Listening to the record once t was finished also allowed me to be very open minded on all of the other songs I was writing and recording, therefore bringing a new energy to the album that I didn't originally plan"

Song Composition, Production & Lyrical Meaning:

While the song does not contain any lyrical content aside from the soft "Ah-ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah-ah", knowing that the title of the track is the same as the album's, and symbolically looking at the album's meaning, the song could simply refer to the idea of living forever, but the instrumental could really mean anything otherwise. Depending on what you're experiencing at the moment, the meaning could be whatever you make of it. The song could also be something that serves as introduction to something you've never ever experienced in your life or just an introduction to the second track or section of the album. The real purpose of the track however is to kind of put you in a trance of loop that goes on forever that eventually would lead you into the album, but ironically the instrumental is a short 2 minutes, which may leave the listener wanting more. For that reason Fierce considered making the track longer but eventually made a risky decision to keep it short and straight to point, that way the listener gets a glimpse of perfection.

The song begins with raw distant chords that begin to progress as an atmospheric ambient sound that's very recognizable in the dream pop genre of music today merely follows along, giving you a cinematic sort of feel. This goes on for about 22 seconds before the song is then joined by halted tribal drums that produce a dramatic effect. Though simplistic, it leave the listener with an unique sound experience. The song also contain minimal bass additions for about 20 seconds as well right before it is joined by a tribal like drum. Around the 38 second mark the song catapults into a more groovy and jumpy song with drums that start hitting like a clap as the guitar grows more melodic and stronger. Stephanie Fierce noticed that the "discordant chords" in the song where similar to those in "Dying in the Airwaves", so she made it her more unique by adding the upbeat claps. As the song continues to build up with intense discordant chords in a repetitiveness sense, the song introduces some sort of vocalization. You will hear "Ah-ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah-ah" throughout the rest of the song. Her vocals are heard as smooth, mellow and calm throughout its journey in the song. The purpose was to sing with emotion despite it sounding like she's holding back vocally, but you can hear her calm and relaxed presence for once, instead of being a vocal focused track. Once the song comes close to a finish you hear the tribal hit once for minimal effect and you also hear the melancholic guitar finishing up the song.

"This being the first track and all, kind of the purpose of the song is to make you beg for more. The first section of the album is primarily based on the softer and more emotional tracks that shy away from the ballad but comes close to being one. Something about this particular song just feels endless and it feels like it could go on forever on a loop. It all began with my acoustic guitar. I typically don't play the guitar as often, because a lot of my time is stolen from me by practicing the rigorous choreography and vocals I had to practice for my tour. But that day I was bored on my tour bus and decided to just mess around and try to create something out of nothing. Eventually after translating the composition to the guitar that would go on to create the sound of the song, an excitement grew within me even further. Obviously like any song, I wanted the song to build up and have a good melody and I didn't care if it cared to the pop genre or not, I just wanted a good tune that would serve well. As I started to clap, I immediately in my head pictured a tribal drum hitting. I've always loved tribal drums, because they are a huge part of music and the sound is always empowering and have a cool dramatic effect. Once I noticed the track was going into the direction I wanted it to go, I decided to give the song a an airy atmospheric and relaxing sound that would continue throughout the whole song, kind of like what I did with every song on my fifth studio album. Even though I decided to cut out the lyrical part from the song, out of nowhere I started to hum out the lyrics I was writing. Next thing you know I was humming gibberish and surprisingly, I loved it enough to keep it in the song. After the song was practically finished, I decided to name it after the album and that's how the concept of the song came to be".

Track 2:

Name: "Bless Me"
Album: Immortal (EP)
Recorded: March 2013
Writer/Composer: Stephanie Fierce
Producer: Stephanie Fierce
Length: 4:19
Genres: Folk-rock
Release: May 12, 2013 (Airplay + Digital Download)
Record Label: Hot Eye Records, CBS

"Bless Me" is a track recorded by American artist Stephanie Fierce for her second EP album "Immortal". The song was released as the album's official second single through Hot Eye Records and the support of CBS records on May 12th. The song was recorded and composed in March inside of Stephanie Fierce's tour bus trailer and mixed at a private owned studio. As of May 11th, the song is currently being used for television promo for the 10th season finale of CBS's hit drama NCIS that will air on May 14th. Part of the song's instrumental was used in the earlier promo's that began on May 1st without the title track or artist being unveiled. A music video has already been filmed and will be released in the coming days.

Fierce discussed the song in her recent Rolling Stone interview:

"I originally wrote the song around the time I released "Love is Lust" but never touched it until March of this year. I thought the song may or may not be included on the album, but either way I felt like the song is very special to me and should be somewhat commercial in my discography of singles, so I wanted to release it in sort of way at least."

She added:

"I think within the concept this song is a bit more interesting lyrically. Vocally with this song I was very influenced by Amy Lee from Evanescence. I will admit I'm not a huge fan of Evanescence's sound as whole, but I am a fan of their lyrics and Amy Lee's voice. As a woman I feel like she really has a distinctive sexy voice. She sounds almost like a saint but with edge and I wanted that in my voice for this song and I wanted to also represent that on this record because this particular song does not have a good meaning at all. It's very sexual and somewhat whorish, but it is something that does happen with many women. A one night stand is meant to be a one night stand, but sometimes we can't get caught up and feel trapped by wanting more. I think this point and time in my career, people should understand that everything I say or portray shouldn't always be taken literal, and that's why I"m not afraid to release the song. "

This song has a very stripped and mellow sound, very much like "Dying in the Airwaves" and many other songs Fierce recorded for her "Free" album, which was released back in 2011. This one however has a little bit more edge in the lyrics and in the bridge. The song talks about the lust and desire of a lonely woman and how a one night stand made her want to keep coming back for more. She desribes herself as a rebel and makes it very clear that she isn't s saint and is willing to push boundaries within herself and her sins. The song is written in a religious fashion which may cause Blasphemy controversy. Fierce moaningly sings "Bless me, Bless me"; a sexual innuendo referring to the fact that her body is need of a "blessing". The song begins with a guitar riff, making two rounds before it dives in with it's opening verse. The song is then joined by what sounds like two smashing sticks and Fierce's soft and sultry vocals. As she sings "bless me" her voice turns more into a moan rather than a belt. When she sings 'I don't stand a chance in heaven', the song goes silent for few quick seconds, and is rapidly joined by a louder smashing claps that also make a few rounds. Growing more melodic as it's joined by more instrumentation, the song continues with it's instrumentation which is kept simple and progressive all throughout until the bridge hits. During the bridge, the song takes a more upbeat beat turn as she sings "keep the demons out" ect. During this section, the song's instrumentation grows even more intense as fierce's vocals become more sultry and evolve into a more moan-like sound as she echoes and repeats through the chorus-repeat. The song then grows more silent and less active until is rejoices to it's normal form and fades out with an emotionally driven sound.

"Bless Me" Lyrics

"Love drunk again, overdose accident
no I'm not saint, no I'm not a saint
I think I should be a little more embarrassed,
in myself, in my sins
Bless Me, Bless Me
Oh oh, oh oh
Bless Me Bless Me
Oh oh, oh oh
Cause I don't stand a chance in heaven
even the devil don't recognize me anymore
a desperate girl shouldn't be given another night
but I thought you might
Bless Me, Bless Me
Oh oh, oh oh
Bless Me Bless Me
Oh oh, oh oh

Oh

The night is growing close
my hands round' my throat
I can't say a word,
and I bet he knows
and I'm hardly wake
Since the night he left.
His body always kept,
Mine inside of it.
keep the demons out,
Give me mouth to mouth.
I can't live without ya,
Take me to your house.

Bless me, Bless me, oh.
Bless me, Bless me, oh. (Bless, bless, bless, bless...)
Bless me, Bless me, oh. (Me, me, me, me...)
Bless me, Bless me, oh. (Bless, Bless, Bless...)

But I thought you might...

Bless Me, Bless Me
Oh oh, oh oh
Bless Me Bless Me
Oh oh, oh oh

Song Description & Background:

"Insane" is a song by American artist Stephanie Fierce taken from her second EP album "Immortal". Stephanie Fierce and lead singer rock artist Johnny Johnson wrote and produced the track together which marks the first reunion since the release of "Life's Good". The song is now being distributed worldwide as the lead single from the album "Immortal" through Hot Eye Records. A music video for the song was filmed in a private studio on January 17th and 19th. The song was made available for digital download and radio airplay on February 17, 2013.

In an interview with GQ magazine, Fierce opened up about "Insane" and how the song inspired the album title:

"Part of the reason I named the album "Immortal" is because I feel like I'm capable of doing what I love for the rest of my life. No matter what you do, you shouldn't feel limited or like you have some sort expiration date. With that being said, I could honestly open up and say that I do feel insecure sometimes because of what people have said about me, getting old, being washed up and having a child as if that were a bad thing. But like I said, I don’t think I’m perfect but I do feel like I do not have an expiration date and there’s much more to come. I have to live my life and I have to be happy." - Stephanie Fierce

Song Composition & Lyrical Meaning:

Insane is primarily based as a lashing out moment Fierce is having towards the industry. In the song she talks about how she fights through unfair, biased and double standard industry politics that most pop stars have to go through in the realm of fame. Aside from anger, the song showcases a sense of strength and self worth that most listeners can relate to in their own life struggles. Fierce also talks directly to her haters in her meanest and most grumpiest vocals with empowering lyrics such as "You tried to break me with your stupid bitter lies" and even shouts out the name of the album with "I'm gonna be stronger, this time I'm Immortal baby". The song's catchy chorus serves as a plea or message Fierce sends out to everyone, saying "stop hating on me, you're making me go insane", purposely giving the songs a melodramatic feel. While not intended, the song also contains cussing during one of the choruses in the song, which will be edited with an industrial sound for radio airplay purposes.

While the song contains a 90's inspired choppy beat, the song incorporates real live instrumentation as well that can be categorized in the genres of pop, electronic rock, new jack swing and funk; most which are more noticeable showcased in the breakdown solo that is played by The Rockers. The song itself begins with industrial like ambient sounds that lead on to a static shock. This portion of the song serves as an intro to the actual song and serves as electronic rock element. Immediately the song's hook kicks in, which is served throughout the song with the exception of the guitar solo breakdown. Throughout the song and it's beat, people will also hear industrial and wavering sounds that portray a futuristic like setting. Once the song reaches the bridge, the song comes to a complete pause. During so, people are able to hear a media news like feed, along with Fierce's voice which is minimally chipmunked serving as a "make fun of" or diss effect to the media. Shortly after this, The Rockers begin the guitar solo which contains sounds that are more than likely not expected to be orchestrated in the song. The breakdown contains element of hard rock, alternative new jack swing composition and funky guitar. The song then catapults back to it's original composition, only this time with louder, faster vocal production and bass. As the song comes to a finish, a more rigid industrial sound is hear and the song finishes.

Production and The Recording Process: (1st person Narrative)

Taking on the production for Insane was difficult because I wanted to take on the role of a singer, producer and sound engineer all in the same time. Obviously, as artists we want to make sure that we are credited for everything, but this time I was a little bit out of my head. I wanted to do it all because only I knew what the song was going to sound like. No one else had this song but me. In other words this wasn't an experimentation of someone else because the song was already dying to come out of me and it was up to me to make sure it was put into sound. Keeping all of that in mind, it didn't take me long to realize that it was going to be nearly impossible for me to "do it all", so I had to call on to my closest friend, Johnny Johnson, so I can gather my thoughts fairly and wisely to make sure I didn't lose the song because the anger I was experiencing during the writing process stood with me, all the way up until I reached out to a mic. As I waited for Johnny to arrive, I began to lay down some acapella vocals on the track, which had nothing but a basic beat at the time, something I created in the past as a default beat for most of the songs I record. Surprisingly, the song matched with the beat, so I began to layer in some really cool sounds I was experimenting with earlier. These sounds were very choppy and served nothing but attitude for the track, which I liked. How did I create them? I had no idea, but the anger I was feeling that day probably had a lot to do with it.

Once Johnny Arrived, I began to remind him about my experience as a sound engineer and how all of that tied in to why I wanted him with me during the recording the process. In the past I’ve always been involved with production, but I never got involved with the engineering process as much. Like pretty much everyone else in the industry, I guess you can say that I was once spoiled with top engineers who had the ability to pull out my creative ideas and bring them to life. Even thought with my third and fourth album, I was a bit more involved but it was never anything complex. It seemed then, but that’s now changing. Since I began work on my fifth studio album I've began to take more control of my music. Now going on into my 8th studio album, I feel like it's ok to a little bit of both, because I've managed to have hands on experience on both ends. In overall terms, to me there’s always a difference between the sound engineer and the producer though.

Once I explained the basics of sounds I was trying to create in my head to Johnny. It was up to me to keep evolving the knowledge I had for the record because once again only I knew what the song was going to sound like. I sang the song in full for about 256 times before I could get the first draft properly engineered. That's when then all of the sudden my voice became really raspy. Now, many people describe my voice to be strong and raspy in the past, but it never sounded anything like this. "Does it have anything to do with you getting old" Johnny threw in a harmless joke that knew would tick me off. I hit him in the shoulder and laughed it off. I continued to sing in my now "raspy" voice. I got scared because I thought I was going to eventually just lose my voice. But I decided that the style of my voice was pretty cool and Johnny agreed with that as well, so we kept that in. Eventually, I began taking breaks to make sure my voice wasn't harmed by all the hard singing I was doing. We tried to look at things from the organic sense. If you’re running, your heart beat grows faster. If you’re angry, you’re heart beat grows faster. If you’re lyrics are angry, there has to be a lot more going on in that sound board. That sort of thing created the sound of “Insane”. Finally, I was able to lay down the whole song with my raspy voice added a whole new touch to it, which inspire Johnny to bring guitar players from the Rockers to do a guitar solo composition in the break down. It’s pretty much a hands-on type of thing that you can't really shy away from. I'm totally fine with the idea others have in addition to what I create as long as they were there with me the whole time in the recording process. Also, If you’re a musician you sort of have to make room for this sort of thing, and once it was finished, I was pleased with what he had created.

But once we finished the breakdown section, I pretty much just experimented with the concept of the song and applied it to sound board for the rest of the song. This tends to be the easy part for a lot of artists, and it sure was for me. I simply just looked for the tone that I had previously created and added what type of instrumentation would be cohesive and make sense with the song, and that pretty much brings the song to life. As I began to add instrumentation of my own with the percussion, keyboards and synthesizers I started to realize how epic the song was turning out to be. So much, that I had to stop, almost as if I had a writer's block, but in reality I was just in amazement of what we had just created. Once I returned to the studio, this time without Johnny Johnson, to finish the song, I was nearly close to finishing the song. Obviously, every song I create needs to have a climatic ending, so I added volume to the instruments and to the beat and bass. While that takes time because you have to sit and look at every bit and re-arrange it until it's right, It seemed to be the easiest part because I already had most of the song finished. Once the song was finished, I gave Johnny a call to come into the studio for one last time to hear the final product. He bopped his head and grinned the whole time.

"Insane" Lyrics

"I'm tired of the injustice
I'm tired of the lies
your hearts are disgusting
look what I've been through DAMN IT!
You bringing me down
I keep getting up
as dramatic as it sounds
Don't you know what I've been through DAMN IT!

You live in my shadow
you ain't taking my light
You tell me I'm wrong
I'm gonna prove I'm right
You're sellin' out souls but I
I care about mine
I'm gonna be STRONGER
this time I'm Immortal baby

With these delusions don't it make you go insane
make you go insane
You bash, abuse, double standard within the same
You try to break me with your stupid bitter lies
Somebody please have mercy
'Cause I just can't take this SH........
Stop hatin' on me
Just stop hatin' me
Stop hatinng me
Making me go insane
Stop hatin' me
Just stop hating' on me
Stop hatin' me

making me go INSANE

I'm dogging ya venom
Sick of ya bitching (sick of ya bitch)

With these delusions don't it make you go insane

You bash, abuse, double standard within the same
