Who enjoy the metal gods known as Metallica? I love them from 1983 - 1992, and then from 2003 - present. I wasn't a big fan of their 90's stuff. So who likes them?

They and Iron Maiden are my most favorite metal bands.

Demos and first LP are fucking brilliant, great early NWOBHM-inspired speed metal. Everything they did after Kill 'Em All is boring to these ears.

Okay, but nothing mindblowing. Better than the pile of shit they did after that though. There were plenty of thrash bands back then that completely blew them away imo.

I fucking love Metallica. And essentially I am limiting myself to 80s Metallica. Kill 'Em All through to ...And Justice For All. Especially prefer Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets & AJFA myself.

After AJFA they went to shit. Death Magnetic was better than St Anger, but then that's because St Anger is the single worst Metallica album recorded in my opinion.

As far as thrash bands go, prefer Anthrax, Exodus, Dark Angel, Onslaught & Testament to them. But Slayer are about 18 billion times shittier, with their 2 songs Slayer remind me of Motorhead.

I liked St. Anger because it showed that they were going back to their roots. I am actually one of the few metallica fans I know who would put Master of the Puppets as their favorite before self titled (The Black Album).

I know a handful of folk who'll pick RTL, a handful who'd choose AJFA & even some who say KEA, but the vast majority will go for MoP every single time, but then my friends are proper metalheads so that'll explain that.

And no, St Anger was definitely not a return to classic Metallica, it was trying to rip-off the then-current trend of nu-metal. But with the worst snare sound in the history of recorded music (outside of bedroom black metal bands)

Personally, I have to put RTL on the top for myself. It is just so fucking heavy, with bits and pieces of proto-black and death metal about it. Definitely had the most Mercyful Fate influence of all of their stuff. "Fight Fire with Fire" is probably the heaviest thing they have ever done. After that, I have to lean on AJFA because I love the overall progginess of that album, then MoP because it is fucking great, then KEA. Not sure why it's my least favorite of them, since it is metal as hell, but it is. And Death Magnetic wasn't too bad. Not great, but a solid album.

There the only metal band I can appreciate, for the most part, as well as Motorhead.

ANTHRAX, EXODUS and DARK ANGEL definitely were better in their heyday. Unfortunately all of them turned shit after three or four albums. Have to disagree on the SLAYER part though. Show No Mercy and Hell Awaits are fucking mindblowing, thrash classics if you ask me. Reign In Blood is okay and the rest sucks.

No, I mean like HEATHEN, early EXODUS, BELIEVER, DARK ANGEL, VENGEANCE RISING, SABBAT (Japanese band, not the UK one), TOURNIQUET, early METAL CHURCH, DELIVERANCE, VENOM, BULLDOZER etc. etc. etc.

That is true. It's got this utterly horrific ring to it. It's the same sound you get when the snare wires break.

This was suprisingly accurate. Was this by any chance made by Lolfly?

Well there are hundreds of better metal bands than them but Kill Em All, Ride the Lightning and some songs of the 2 following albums are great, Black Album and Garage Inc have ok songs but mostly is average/sucky stuff Load Reload St Anger suck and Death Magnetic is a gay attempt to return to their roots, if you are trying thrash go for Megadeth, Heathen, Testament, Overkill, Annihilator, Sacrifice, Death Angel, Metal Church, Kreator, Deathrow, Mekong Delta, Artillery, Xentrix, Coroner, etc.

Xentrix are shite. Really don't rate Overkill either, and Annihilator are guff. If that's who I'm thinking about their singer bugs me.

Yeah, but if they could stick with one formation and make quality albums it will be better
