Simple question.
Do you like Ryan Adams or do you dislike him?
I like him, i think he writes some brilliant music.
I don't know anyone who's ever heard of him.

He's an amazing songwriter.

Yeah and the difference between those two albums is pretty big, i also really enjoyed Rock N' Roll, it showed that he can play rock music really well, he's certainly not a one trick pony.

Yeah your confusing him with Bryan Adams (I can't even bear hearing his name mentioned), it's such a shame that those 2 names are so close to each other's, but believe me Ryan Adams is much better than Bryan.

He's an arrogant jerk from what I've heard.

My take on it is, regardless of all the press hoopla and marriage and ex-girlfriends of fame and drugs and stuff....

Ryan Adams is great-inconsistent, arrogant, hip, sloppy, stand offish, stylistically all over the place and very eccentric...but great.

A real personality and a distinctive voice amid so many 'solo artists' who are quite frankly crap. He's kind of like a mixture between Neil Young and Bob Dylan (an enigmatic eccentric musical prodigy following his muse and capable of being an artist who, just when everyone has written him off, he produces another brilliant album, by which time the people slagging him off have caught up with the last record that they've been moaning and complaining about).

He even had his own Crazy Horse/The Band equal in The Cardinals, but it looks like that is on ice for now. I suspect that after a really productive and prolific first ten years solo he might either slow downa bit or go into overdrive again, try some new stuff and keep writing great songs.

The guy can get it wrong sometimes (he was trying a bit too hard to make his stuff radio friendly on the last two records I think and that kind of muted his own voice), but generally speaking he just keeps producing albums that get people talking and thinking.

Even if the Alt.Country thing isn't your cup of tea, the diversions into other genres and styles makes it interesting (he excels at piano based ballads now at delivers at least one or two per album, which no one expected of him considering his punk/hardcore/country/bluegrass roots).

For what it's worth, my Top Three Adams' records are Jacksonville City Nights, Heartbreaker and Love Is Hell.

I've tried making a definitive Adams playlist and its really freakin' hard. He just has so many great songs...

I love some of stuff, but other stuff I dont. Hate his cover of Wonderwall though.
