‘Young Blood’ is the debut album by American Electropop multi-instrumentalist musician ‘Maddie Urie’. Recorded between January and June 2013 it marks the first solo release from the young musician following a previous effort in 2010 as part of the indie-pop duo ‘Two Equals Three’, that venture into the music world never really took off in the way that both members of the band had hoped and they both decided to split and find their own pathway into the music industry. The majority of the songs from the album were written this year, however four of the songs were already recorded in 2012 as demo versions with slightly different lyrics in comparison to those that appear on the album. These demos were the catalyst in Maddie Urie being signed by ‘Songs to Love and Die By’ after Amy Meyer was given the demo recordings, she then went on to make Maddie Urie her very first signing to her record label.
The album mixes elements of electro-pop and pop-punk, with a heavy influence of both genres throughout the album with keyboards, synthesizers and electric guitar, drums and bass guitar. All instruments throughout the album were recorded solely by Maddie Urie, recorded in stages before she layed down the vocals. This hands-on situation will be resolved when she tours with a backing band. The entire lyrics and composition throughout the album were created by Maddie Urie, one exception is the track ‘Young Blood’ which was co-writer by post-hardcore musician ‘Alex Simms’. The album was produced by both Maddie Urie and Amy Meyer with additional help coming from Julian Morello.
The album features the debut single from the young musician ‘Put On A Brave Face’, the single helped show audiences the sort of music that Urie would be creating in the future and the reaction was highly positive by fans, peers and critics alike, this culminated in the lead single peaking at a #3 in the charts, making it a hugely successful new start for the musician. However this wasn’t capitalized by Urie or her label as they opted to put all of the focus into making the debut album and getting it released during the summer.
The album was recorded between January and June 2013, in San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, California at a recording studio only five minutes from Maddie Urie’s home. The album will be released under the record label ‘Songs to Love and Die By’ and more singles from the album have been promised in an early press release for the album. The album comes in at just under forty minutes in length and will be available in all different kinds of formats, digital download, CD Single and Vinyl and will be available from all good record stores as well as from iTunes, Amazon and the ‘Songs to Love and Die By’ official website. The album will be released on June 23, 2013.
