The Pop-Punk/Emo Alternative music scene was flipped upside down in late 2010 when a young band by the name of Suburban Sunrise came onto the music scene. Led by lead female vocalist Nicole Woods, and lead guitarist/vocalist Matt Urie the band took off into what had seemed to be "super stardom." Throughout their career the band had singles that topped off at number #3 on the music single charts and albums that peaked all the way up to #2. Nothing could have been better for the young rockers, or could it have been? Shortly after having their second album top off at #2 and right before the band embarked on their very first headlining tour in October of 2011, the band's bassist, rhythm guitarist, and drummer all announced that they would be leaving the band due to issues within the band itself, leaving Woods and Urie alone to embark on a three month long journey. The duo would prevail and continue on through the tour. Shortly after the tour finished, in January of 2012 the band announced that they would be ending their career in the music scene indefinitely with no intention on returning. It is now the year 2013 and the music scene has just about forgotten about Suburban Sunrise, Matt Urie and Nicole Woods. We are here today to happily announce that Matt Urie and Nicole Woods are once again returning to the music scene with a brand new project named "Mannequin Religion" and are looking to pick up steam even faster than before. With new material being written left and right, and the two getting ready to hit the studio, there is only one way for this dynamic duo to go, and it is up! Nicole and Matt can't wait to get back on the road, play shows, and get their music heard once again, and this time doing it a lot better and a lot more professional than before. WILL BE OUT JULY 17TH 2013! Hello everyone! Nicole here with some VERY VERY exciting news! Matt and I are very proud to announce that our debut single titled "one." will be out on July 17th! You can check out the artwork for it below! Be sure to tell us what you think! We are having a blast on the Hot and Harmonious tour! The crowds have been amazing and the reception on the new songs has been great! Before we left for tour we were in the studio non stop and completed an EP! Enjoy! -Matt & Nicole SONG MEANING/SONG HISTORY Nicole: Matt and I both wrote the lyrics for the song, and if you read them or listen to the song you can tell that we both treated this song like it was our baby. One day when Matt and I were hanging out, the topic of starting up another band came up some how and we both thought that if we are going to be in a band again it is going to need to be something different than what we have made in the past. It's not that we didn't like our old songs, it's just that they weren't really who we were. Sure I mean we wrote them and everything but it was kind of like we were going through the motions instead of pouring our hearts into what we love to do. Which ultimately is what this song is about. Well, it's about two things really. With the parts that I wrote they are about finding yourself, and about how everyone is the same, and about how we all need to treat one another as if we were brothers and sisters. To me this song is very important and holds a special place in my heart because it's not some stereotypical bullshit that people would expect from us, it's something new that honestly no one in the industry today has touched. So, not only does this song bring something new into the music industry, it was created to help people become "one." with one another, which is where the song title comes from as well. So that's the meaning behind my part in making the song, it would mean the world if you guys go out and buy it on the 17th and request it to your local radio stations! Matt: Where to start... "one." is our anthem that tells people about how no matter how hard you work to be better than someone or something that it is nearly impossible to be "better" than them. We're all just normal every day people, just because we play music, or your a professional athlete, or if your some world famous politician, your just a person like everyone else. And for me that's really what I want this song to get across to people. When Nicole and I decided that we wanted to start a new band and do something that is somewhat unique, I came up with the idea of creating what would be kind of, laid back Post-Hardcore music, but without the screaming and with something that is new in a genre that is so dull and expected. To me "one." is a song that will hopefully shine a new light in an industry that has seemed to go so dark. I really want this song to show people that we're not messing around and that we are here to start something new!
