Artist: Rum & Coke Album : Epiphany Release Date: TBA Recorded: May 3rd , 2O13 – Now Label: Tric-Jam Genre: PBR&B , R&B , Alternative , Hip Hop, Rap Producers: inZane , NinaT , Flame 1 & 2Background
Epiphany (Sudden realization of reality) is the second album by Canadian-American duo Rum & Coke , which as far as we know , will be released sometime after the GBA Tour ( God Bless America Tour ) , which will end early August , some believe sometime early 2O14 . This will be their second project with Tric-Jam of Studio 6O records , the first being EP : 7 Deadly Sins , with a HC of #8 . It was recorded December 3Oth, 2O12 – March 23rd, 2O13 , and released May 6th , 2O13 . Epiphany will also be their second album , the first being Venom & Versace , with a HC of #11 . The recording dates are uncertain but it was released March 19th , 2O13 . NinaT ( Nina Taramino ; Rum ) , inZane ( Zane Anoshkin ; Zayne ) and Flame 1 & 2 ( Damon & Eden Ale ) are enlisted as the main producers of this . Rum & Coke also wrote all of the songs , a few with the help of Zayne . Musically Epiphany doesn't stray far from the same PBR&B and alternative hip hop sound that 7 Deadly Sins included, the album also touches on several genres such as reggaeton , indie pop and alternative . The album was 'introduced' by the release of the single " Mirror " which was released on May 18th, 2O13 . The second single " Dependent " was released on June 4th, 2O13 and the final single from the album " Money Makes Fools ", is planned to be released on August 12th, 2013 . This album is to be the start of Rum's new era of combining her rapping with her heavy Cuban singing voice and Coke finally starting to really show off her true vocals . The two artists are very excited about this album . They admit they have high hopes in this one , because this is what they described as , " The true Rum & Coke ... not even that but Nina & Aire . That is what this album will showcase for us . "Conspiracy This part was taken from the infamous article that has caught lots of attention , " Rum & Coke : Killuminatist ? " off of landoftheenslaved.tumblr.com , which is a blog on tumblr that claims to uncover a lot of the corruptness going on in America .
I honestly have to say that this is something that kind of struck me out of the blue . I mean just with all the corruptness going on in today's music business ... just the world , that I didn't expect anyone to do this . M.J. was the last to attempt ... and that catastrophically ended 2009 ... and a trail around it still remains today . I seriously couldn't believe it for a minute but it is true . After doing some extensive research , it became quite evident that this whole album is anti-NWO and anti-government . I mean just think about it . The name of the album is epiphany . A sudden realization of reality . It was almost named Reverie , which means to pleasantly daydream . Now why would these be the potential names of an album , clearly about freedom just based off of the tracklist ? What is it that Rum & Coke are trying to make us realize ? What are we day dreaming about ? Here is what rose my suspicions . The first two singles that were released was a song about depression ( I guess ? ) , and a love song . Apparently , they are both associated with an epiphany , because you are realizing something you probably didn't know or tried to hide from . And I have to say , it's a smart method to release all of the irrelevant tracks first , so that the album can take the audience by surprise and go in a whole different direction . That succeeded when out of nowhere the album trailer came out with the title track preview showing exactly what the album was about to be about . Basically , we know that both of them descend of roots that are in a very controversial place right now . Nina was an actual illegal immigrant from Cuba when her family escaped to Canada at the age of 13 , and before anyone realized she moved to America with Airemese and became and American citizen . Airemese's grandfather was born in Zimbabwe and became fortunate enough to move his family to Canada . That part of her family in Canada grew up upper middle class after her granddad started a business from scratch , that is still successfully ran by her father today . So the video starts off with the controversy going on in those countries , showing the corruptness world wide and then fades to black as Nina says , " Wake Up . " From what ? The video goes on goes to show personal problems and someone just about to give up on life as their soul or conscience telling them to fight through it . The most important part is the lyrics though . Especially the intro . It has such a deep meaning and it is all evidence really needed .
What happens when life breaks down? When there's systemic contradiction? It's projecting , self-justifying , excusing , accusing , denying , well I don't have a problem There's nothing wrong with me ... So if it's not me , it must be you , or it must be them, or it must be him Trouble doesn't come from nowhere Your weakness is a perfect match !
You have to really pay attention to these lyrics . The first man speaking is asking what happens when the world goes wrong ... which is a juxtaposition to all the chaos going in the video , ( Which was directed and edited by Airemese ) , Rum & Coke trying to show us that it already has begun , and moving on in the video , showing all the personal problems , making it clear that you don't really have a back up plan ... you can't even handle your own life , how can you handle this ? The next man that speaks going back to the irrelevance , but at the same time , when you really think about it , is still on the topic . What you get out of that thought is him explaining how we like to hide from something like a corrupt government by labeling it a ' conspiracy ' . Then the next 2 men go on kind of wraps it up . The first one saying this didn't come from nowhere ... poverty doesn't just strike a country out of nowhere . War isn't just in certain countries just because . Problems like this were created , if you will . And the last man ends of almost in a scolding tone , " Your weakness is a perfect match ! " Why would something be said in a scolding tone ? Would it be a way of surfacing that you should have known by now that you were being observed so that it would be easy to get you on your knee's at times like these ? Just then Nina says " Wake Up . " Do I have to go on ? That was enough evidence right there to tell you what this album was going to be about . Especially noting that this is the 1st actual track other than the intro AND the title track of the album . If you still need more evidence , there was a tweet Coke sent out , showing I'm going to guess the hook of Painted Faces . Just read them :
dDietCokeb : But yo ... Who do you think you've fooled ?
dDietCokeb : Who do you think I am ?
dDietCokeb : I've caught you on all your bull ...
dDietCokeb : And to expose it , Im determined .
dDietCokeb : Cause Im aware .... of #PaintedFaces #Single...? #9|?? #Rum&Coke
Self explanatory . What do you think ? Personally I am a little excited . I have no idea if they might actually succeed or what but I am definitely , cautiously , kind of following their music . Once this album comes out I will be the first to observe it and post my thoughts and findings . Who knows , I could be wrong ... But I could be right .
