Not a fan of that either really... But then, I don't like the original either. Hah.

@ Jester, Heartbreaker is probably 3rd on my top Ryan Adams albums... and I agree, his piano stuff is beautiful.

Personally I don't care if the musician is an absolute arse or arrogant if he delivers great music. Not everyone in the world has to be polite to everyone.

Why oh why oh why can't more people appreciate his genius on piano? 'Dear John' is a freakin' masterpiece. 'Hotel Chelsea Nights' makes me cry every time....

All of his piano ballads easily wipe the floor with all of the sentimental pappy crap that has passed as radio friendly ballads over the last ten years. West Life and all the other soppy boy band fakers and their sugar coated autotune dreariness can f*** right off. Adams is king of the piano balld for the current crop of solo artists under 40 (and probably one of the best around generally regardless of age and whether people are solo or in bands).

@Nightsidex, out of curiosity, what are your top 3 Adams records? I'm intrigued.

As I've said, my all time favourite is Gold, which is right back near where he started. Though contrastingly, I love Easy Tiger out of the "newer stuff", and with The Cardinals (which I'll agree there's a certain muted quality about with the suspicion of Adams trying to pen more commercial and radio-oriented material, but hey he does it well...), and then Heartbreaker. For me, I preferred Gold more than Heartbreaker out of his earlier material, I just thought the former was a more charming album. Plus I have the bias I guess of having heard that one first.

Anything post-Easy Tiger I'm not too keen on admittedly...

Yeah your confusing him with Bryan Adams (I can't even bear hearing his name mentioned), it's such a shame that those 2 names are so close to each other's, but believe me Ryan Adams is much better than Bryan.

haha, silly me. then, no, never heard of him. it would be weird if lewis loved him.

Just quitting The Cardinals was he not? Either way, I'm interested to see what he does. I doubt Adams will ever pack it up altogether, no matter how disenfranchised he imagines the music industry, as he's too prolific a writer.

On that note actually, he's meant to be putting out a couple of books soon, which I'll probably look into closer the time.

I think he's taking a indefinate hiatus from music not just the cardinals, and yeah the books might be pretty interesting he says infinity blues is the best work he's ever done so it should be pretty brilliant.

Yarr that's the one I remember, it's out in Autumn/Fall if I recall as well? I should have a bit of money spare to order it around then as I'll be back at college.

And hiatus from music altogether? :| That's a tad depressing... though as I said, I doubt he could keep away from music for a long time altogether, but then I suppose after 10 years of non-stop work and touring, he must be a little worn down.

yeah but i really hope he doesn't do an album collaboration with his new wife Mandy Moore that would be terrible, it would probably be more commercial and maybe even more succesful because she's a pop artist but i think it would just be terrible.

Hrmm I don't see him doing that, but if he did for any reason do it, I can see it being a little less straightforward than what Mandy would bring to the table.

The Cardinals are still together their currently working with New Zealand based female singer/songwriter Gin Wigmore, who i think will make a pretty interesting impact on the music industry and could be one to watch.

Oh right, hahah, I thought you meant me loving RYAN. :P

Yeah he covered wonderwall which people don't really like, althought Noel Gallagher had some pretty good comments on the cover.
I've just been listening to the Ryan Adams song Elizabeth, You Were Born To Play That Part, from the album 29 and i think it's absolutely unbelievable and beautifully written, it might not be everyone else's cup of tea but i think you should give it a listen if you haven't already heard it.

He's actually still releasing music but it's via his official website. I've bought 3 songs and they're really worth the money. He should release a new album soon.
