We're constantly rediscovering what it means to be artists. We've gotten to a point where our families, our habits, our most intimate thoughts and feelings are under the microscope that is our art. - Billie Beckett Edited by user 17 August 2013 13:03:17(UTC)

I feel like we constantly re-invent ourselves as people and as musicians everytime we sit down to write more music. Its like today I am one thing and I will be for the rest of the day. Tomorrow I start over. Everyday is a new experience and a new adventure. - Vin Peters |

Welcome to the great triumph where we transform in front of your eyes. In the past we've transformed in our own private creative spaces, letting our art evolve and grow in seclusion. Now the entire artistic process from one melody and one lyric to a fully recorded song is here available for you. It is the great triumph of all of us and all of us are along to see what happens next. Video Entry #1 August 23, 2012 2:26 a black hoodie bleakly covering all but the shadowy perimeter of his face, Billie Beckett grasps a beaten Martin acoustic guitar. With callous and defiance he plucks the strings, prowling at intolerable anguish and unmentionable malcontent. Crackly and quietly he sings a few lines of a morbid piece. His voice is twisted and torn like demolition site of skewed, bent metal rods. "I have no basis for the thoughts I've mentioned My decisions are based on my own selfish sins I have no words to tell your teary face tonight My compliments are a vice in deadly disguise cant believe how much I've fallen for myself extreme pleasure in my own vanity I seduce, exploit, control, and burn myself God let this be dark fantasy Compulsive dialects of lies and ferverence Drown my friends in the bathroom sink Well this is twisted and tangled and opulence Is just an excuse for abundant misery I hold my heart up to the mirror in our bedroom Its just a cool reminder that its killing me His bitterness and stale emotion fades out as the video concludes and fades to black. |

Lyrics Entry #1 August 24, 2013 I'm on the steps but I can't move up cant look backwards I'm on the steps of the steeple here in front of me I'm on the tail of the dress I thought you'd be wearing Looks like were stuck in half-loving purgatory I'm on the steps but I can't move up, can't look backwards I'm on the steps watching your ceremony inside Here we are in the sight of god Welcome to holy disappointment
Oh we might as well go to church for caskets Right now this feels like a funeral Oh we might as well go to church for caskets Facing your back I cant breathe anymore
Oh this is heresy just like I imagined This is terror just like it was before The fear of letting you live without me Has driven me through all creation |

Audio Entry #1: Armoury SessionsSeptember 29th 2013 Sharply mixed left to right, an acoustic guitar -twangy and thrashing- opens the song joined by a somber echo and pervasive bass sound. A contrastingly warm -almost other worldly- glass sound flows in and out as well. Shaking and beating like a rainstick, rattling percussion floats in. The tone is almost like bells, but in a sad, devastating way. Melancholy ever present, the vocals begin in semi-melodic, subtly declarative tone. Something that could be a horn frames the half-warm backing tone as the other instruments rage on under the sad sounds of Billie Beckett. Just before the second verse ("Old sheets and whiskey scent") begins the drums pick up. Boom ba cha boom boom cha cha boom boom boom ba ta ta ta ta boom as they break in to a slow, spacious beat. The other instruments continue in the fashion of the first verse as the vocals make a steady course for weary venting. As the verse ends ("I should leave it all behind but now I cant") a subtle guitar begins. Reverbed but quitely sharp nonetheless, the guitar highlights the emotion of the song. The emotion builds in the vocals to a tear wrenching confessional repetition ("I should...") as deep piano joins adding to the power. In a movement of feeling and power backing vocals join as the noise climaxes under the baritone cries of Billie Beckett. This breaks in to the next verse. Hints of the guitar remain for the short verse, but the song quickly builds back to the wave your phone in the air and cry level of emotion again. Billie sings and Vin Peters wails on guitar in total minor ecstasy. On and on for forty seconds the outro sings until the acoustic guiitar plays the song our for a measure. Parasites and past laments Its like I have a covenant Its like I never will relent The time to go was time I spent
Kerosene and an open flame Its like I have myself to blame Its like my actions have no aim And its a lie if we say we're all the same
I'm in a covenant to be by my side I'm stuck in a covenant and I can't take flight
Old sheets and whiskey scent Its like I have a covenant Its like I'm doomed to dissent And everyone is ravaging me 'til I repent
Phone calls and airplanes Its like someone else is holding my reins Its like I just put a drug in my veins Sit and wait for after to see what remains
I should leave it all behind but now I cant I should've never gone to where I am I should go to hell for making this covenant I should go to hell for making you depressed
Go to parks. Make our children content Its like I have a covenant Its like our love was one big event We're forcing it stretching to new extent
I hate what I cant replace It stays so I must embrace Or else I know I'll disgrace This family that'll never find its place
I should hate myself for bringing us here I should go back home and leave you both here I should never wake up for this covenant I should wish I'd never found such enlightenment
I should go back to bed before I hurt myself I should fall asleep before I act rashly I should love you all just like a good family I should go to bed before I mess this up Mess this up I'll mess this up I should go to bed before I mess this up Mess this up I'll mess this up
