On August 31st, Serenity Scott debuted her single "Freedom" on VEVO and released it to digital outlets shortly after. The same day, she tweeted her fans to notify them that she'll be on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in Los Angeles, CA on Tuesday in promotion of her newly released single. She also tweeted that she'll be signing autographs for her fans that show up. Luckily for her, fans lined up outside of the show's headquarters hours before the star arrived. At 5 in the evening, three black SUV vehicles pulled up in front of The Tonight Show's headquarters. Serenity was in the front seat of the second SUV that was in between the other two. Fans that were waiting noticed and then started cheering and yelling her name as a bodyguard opened the door Serenity to step out. After she stepped out of the vehicle, she headed straight to her fans to sign autographs and greet them. Of coarse, as usual, she was greeted with fans telling her that she's beautiful, inspirational, and also requests for pictures, signings, and more. Of coarse, Serenity had yet another fun time hanging around with her dedicated fans that came to see her. This was her first time doing this since last year but she still felt like this was her first time doing this. Not only did it feel like it was her first time signing autographs for a large group of fans, but it also felt like she was going to be on live television for the first time. After Serenity was finished signing autographs, desperate fans that didn't receive an autograph were promised by Serenity herself that she'll be back to sign more stuff after the show. Then, she waved goodbye, blew loads of kisses to her supporters, and marched her way into the building where she'll be interviewed
Serenity was in her dressing room, with her male stylist Edward preparing her for her first live interview on television since last year. Edward has been Serenity's stylist since the beginning of her career and has been styling her wigs and applying her makeup. Both Edward and Serenity had a really close friendship and told each other everything - keeping no secrets from each other. "Edward, I am so nervous right now and I feel odd doing this. I haven't done this in like.. ages," Serenity said to Edward as he started to comb her hair. Edward chuckled and let out a tiny laugh before replying. "Just relax and you'll do fine. Trust me. Remember your first interview that aired on television? You were extremely nervous then but when you got on set and started talking to the interviewer, all the nervousness just went away. Trust me, I know you Serenity." Serenity smiled. Edward always knew how to calm Serenity down whenever she got nervous about anything. "Thanks Ed. Thanks a lot", she replied. Soon after, it was time for Serenity to go on set, Edward wished her good luck and Serenity walked out of her dressing room. Edward stayed in the dressing room and drank a cup of coffee whilst sitting down. As Serenity came outside her dressing room, one of the directors of the show showed her which way to go to get on set. When she got to the door that lead to the set, she stopped and stood there - waiting for Jay to welcome her as the featured guest on the show. Serenity breathed in and out and waited for Jay Leno to announce her name.
Jay: Now everyone, welcome to the show, Ms. Serenity Scott!
Serenity made her way out onto the set and started smiling and waved to the audience. Jay Leno watched her as she made her way to where he was seated. The audience cheered on Serenity and gave her a standing ovation. As a result, before Serenity sat down, she bowed to the audience.
Jay: Serenity! My my my, you're looking good!
Serenity: Aww, thank you. It's been such a long long time since I've been on here.
Jay: This I know. How's it been going with you? It seemed like you vanished off the face of the earth.
Serenity: Well, yes, I vanished off the face of the earth. I only came back occasionally when I wanted to stir up something on Twitter.
The audience laughed - along with Jay Leno.
Serenity: I'm just kidding... I've been really really fine actually. I've been quiet as of late because I just wanted to live life for a moment I guess.
Jay: Ladies and gentlemen, let's give a huge round of applause for the return of Ms. Scott!
People in the audience began to fill the place up with 'woos' and applauded Serenity for a good 15 seconds. Serenity sat there and smiled, feeling delighted and appreciated.
Serenity: Thank you so much Jay! You're so sweet.
Jay: Thank you. Now tell me about this new single "Freedom" that you just released to rave reviews.
The audience cheered once more for her.
Serenity: Thank you again Jay. You're such a ladies man.. so sweet! *She chuckles* But uh, this song is just about being free. Being free from your past and moving on, no matter what has happened to you in life. And, I wanted it to be an inspiring song to people to let them be aware that there will always be a future and you have to make that decision on your own to be happy and free or let something negative interfere with that.
The audience cheered and applauded her. They definitely understood the point she was making.
Jay: I have to say Serenity. And it's definitely good to hear what the message you gave on the song from you, rather than a music critic. Now, I have to ask you; what exactly inspired you to write this song?
Serenity: Well, I went through a really dark chapter in my life which is completely normal and during that phase - that chapter - I felt like I was a caged bird, you know. And that's part of the reason why it took me a while to come back out with new music. After that dark stage was over, I felt inspired to write a song about letting go of my past and that's basically all too it.
The audience cheered for her once more.
Jay: Well, I can certainly see that you are indeed 'free' now that you're showing off your gorgeous smile. I wouldn't want to see how it looked when you went through your personal problems.
Serenity laughed and then said "yes, I'm smiling" to the audience.
Serenity: Jay, I know you're the interviewer and everything. But I have to ask you something.. WHY ARE YOU SWEET!?
Jay: I guess you have to ask my parents. Both of them were 'sweet' and they passed it down to me. Don't mistake my sweetness for my weakness however.
The audience starts to laugh.
Serenity: I certainly won't Jay. But I know your weakness. Hehehe. *She winks*
Jay and the audience laughed once more. Serenity picked up her glass of coffee that Jay had on his table for her.
Jay: There's something else on my mind that I've always wanted to ask you..... Who exactly are you dating? They're always rumors about celebrities dating, but most of the time they aren't true. So I'm asking you now, are you dating anyone?
Serenity: No no no, I'm single like a pringle. Speaking of a pringle, Jay you know fine well that I love pringles and you didn't even bring any for me!
Jay and the audience laughed.
Serenity: But to answer your question for the second time - no. I've been on a few dates here and there but it wasn't anything serious. All those guys I found to be beautiful jerks.
The audience laughed.
Jay: I apologize Serenity. Next time I will get you your pringle. I promise. And whoever your future lover will be, he sure will be a lucky fella!
Serenity: Awww, that's so sweet. Thank you!
Jay: So what's next? What are your plans? Are you going to attend the Fan's Choice Awards this month?
Serenity: Yes! Yes, indeed I am. Actually, I'm going to confirm that I'll be performing live at the ceremony. I'm excited because it'll be my first time ever performing for at an awards show. It's like a dream come true and I can't wait.
Jay: Whoa! Is this exclusive news you're telling me Serenity!?
Serenity: This is mother effing exclusive news I am telling you Mr. Leno!
The audience cheered.
Jay: Wow. You're just knocking down all those barriers one by one Serenity. I'm stoked to see your performance. You've opened dates for many iconic artists and I've seen you perform and I've got to admit. You really know how to keep the crowd going. You're a great performer.
Serenity: Thank you so much. Yes, I've opened dates for Vanity, Weekend, and Stephanie Fierce. It's been a real pleasure.
Jay: Tell me, what's it like touring with all those people? The Weekend boys especially.
Serenity: Well, let me just get Weekend out of the way and just say that you have to deal with a lot of teen girls yelling for them whenever you're around them. *She laughs* They're really all great boys though. Vanity is an amazing person as well. I got to know her as well and it's been a pleasure touring her. As for Stephanie, it's a damn good experience to be on the road with her. She's such a great person to know and she's helped me out with loads of things and I definitely appreciate her a lot for that.
Jay: Oh and before I move on from this subject. When will you ever headline your own tour? My nieces and nephews have been begging me to see you live.
Serenity: Awwww, that is so sweet. Well, get ready for another mother effing exclusive on this show. Tomorrow evening, I'll announce the dates of my promo tour that will begin on the September 16th. It's only a few dates and I started rehearsing for the shows early last month. The dates won't be at large arenas like the Staples Center or even Madison Square Garden. However, I'm planning on going on embarking on my first world tour next spring. It'll be a killer tour! I promise and your nieces and nephews will have free tickets and backstage passes whenever. *She winks*
The audience cheers as Serenity announced another exclusive.
Jay: Well, this all made my day!
Serenity: Haha, thank you! I'm delighted.
Jay: Now Serenity, we've asked people to tweet a question to the official jay leno page and here's what we've been getting. This one's from @SerenityScottsDaugher. She asked :"Who is my father?"
The audience started laughing and so did Serenity.
Serenity: That's a classic right there! To tell you the truth my daughter, I have no clue who your father is and I apologize!
Jay laughs.
Jay: The next one is from @TurkBoy295. He asked, "When are you planning on getting out your second album?"
Serenity: Well hey, I'd never go on a world tour before my second album is released. Just saying. *She shrugged*
Jay: Wait, is this ANOTHER Tonight Show exclusive?
Serenity took a sip of her coffee and then shrugged.
Jay: You and these surprises Serenity.. I've got my eye on you. Now, I'm going to read one more question before the show ends. This one's from @JanetScott. She's asked, "Why are you so gorgeous? Everything from your smile and eyes, to your perfect skin is flawless."
'Awwws' were then heard in the audience.
Serenity: Aw, that is so sweet. Just for that, I'm going to follow you on Twitter. You made my day.
Jay: You have one of the most kindest fans ever.
Serenity: Jay, I HAVE the most kindest and most beautiful fans on earth.
Jay: Yes, you do Serenity. Ladies and gents, Serenity's latest single is available for purchase on iTunes and google play. Now, give it up for Serenity Scott!
The audience stood up and cheered and applauded her. Serenity then stood up and blew kisses. "Thank you all! See you guys next time" she said before music began playing and the show ended. PURCHASE SERENITY'S NEW SINGLE NOW!

The Journey to Freedom & the Story Behind It
The year 2012 was a rough one for the young American pop singer Serenity Scott. Following the release of her debut single 'Wonderland', she's got into countless numbers of 'beefs' with other celebrities and relevant people in the music industry. From being involved in arguments, to being trashed by many celebrities, to being dropped by labels in a short period and even being called out negatively at the Fan's Choice Awards, it's definitely been extremely tough for the young singer and a humiliating one too! With all of the harsh feedback of Serenity's musical presence, Serenity decided to take a musical hiatus in late October of 2012 and disappeared from music completely. Although she never made it known and kept this private from the rest of the world, she suffered from severe depression as a result of media scrutiny. Due to all of this taking into account, her re-release album 'Teenage Era: The ReUp' that was scheduled to be released in February was scrapped before making a final decision with her label Five Pesky Kids to hold off the release of the reissued-album until her name started to die down. With everything taking a toll on the young starlet, her commercial performance was going down the drain with each of her releases. Her debut single 'Wonderland' performed well on the charts after it was released in May 2012, but soon after with releases coming after 'Wonderland', her single sales began to drop tremendously with some singles not even earning a gold certification - despite numerous promotional efforts. Many began to assume that the Ms. Scott was a one-hit wonder and would eventually fade away without the world caring. Soon after, accusations of her stirring up controversy with other musicians in order to remain relevant began to emerge. All of the controversy that involved her plus her failure to make a commercial impact resulted in her getting dropped by several major record labels in a short span of time. Shortly after she was dropped from North Hill Records and Chaos Records in July 2012, she signed a deal with Hot Eye Record's shortly after and released her debut album 'Teenage Era' to both mixed and positive reviews. The album charted poorly, debuting at #16 - probably the lowest debut ever on the Chart Heat - selling 126,000 copies in the first week. Some say the album failed due to the recent change of record labels which then led to a limited amount of promotion that could have been done when she signed a deal with Hot Eye Records not too long before the release of the abum. After the closure of Hot Eye Records, Serenity was left without a label before getting one last chance. In November 2012, she signed with Five Pesky Kids, a new label at the time that was founded by Weekend and is parented under Chaos Records. Following her musical hiatus starting from late October 2012, Serenity then decided intended on escaping all negativity by attempting to become more friendly and open with people in the music industry. She also tried her best to remain neutral when it came to celebrity drama, although sometimes it didn't work. In the long run, Serenity has been able to keep her name out of tabloids due to negativity for good as time progressed and she began to establish more positive connections with people in the industry rather than negative ones. Despite this, every now-and-then, she still experiences clashes between her and other well-known musicians on Twitter. However, despite this, her name was still far from being scrutinized by the media because of this. In June of 2013, Serenity and her label finally came to decision that the timing was right to prepare for new material to be released. That same month, Scott teamed up with American songwriter and producer Sunny Monroe to write and produce "Freedom". Sunny is most known for her previous work with stars such Jennifer Armstrong and Kourtney - including pop superstar Isabel. After the song was completed, it was decided by her label and her management that the song would serve as the lead single off of the reissue album. Originally, a song titled "Green Light", which was announced to be her new single on her official site months before, was intended on being the first single to be released off of the album. However, after a long decision, it finally came down to "Freedom" being chosen instead in lieu of "Green Light". However, "Green Light" will still be included on the re-release as part of the 5 new songs to be included on the reissue.
The Song
"Freedom" is a song performed by American recording artist/singer-songwriter Serenity Scott taken off of her re-release album "Teenage Era: The Re-Up". It's her first song to be released in almost a year and it serves as the lead single off of her re-release. "Freedom" was recorded and completed in June 2013 and was selected by both her and her label (Five Pesky Kids) to be released as the lead single in lieu of a "Green Light - a song that was announced to be the new lead single a few months prior. The song was written by Sunny Monroe and Serenity Scott and was produced by Sunny Monroe. The song was written on behalf of what Serenity describes as 'Freedom' from her past and starting fresh on a new journey. Production wise, the song incorporates a new direction for Serenity; infusing a midtempo, synth-driven powerpop sound. The song also contains influence arena rock, folk rock, and glam rock. Lyrically, the song is a self-empowerment anthem in which Scott declares that she's moving on into a new chapter in life and that she is free from her past. Upon release of this new single, critics noted comparisons between this song and her single "Good Morning" that was released last summer.
"'Freedom' is probably one of my greatest songs that I've ever recorded. I'm really proud of it and proud of myself. This song is a song that anyone can relate too. It's a song that should give people the encouragement to be free and to always start a new chapter in life from time to time. Recently, just before this song was created, I felt like I started a new chapter in my life; a positive one. Like they say, there's always a rainbow after a hurricane and that pretty rainbow is my new chapter that recently begun in my life. I've escaped a dark past. A past that have left me depressed for a long time, saddened, and just kept me feeling low about myself. However, recently, I've opened my eyes to see life in a different perspective. I've come to realize that there's no one else in this world that can make you happy but yourself. I've realized that life is so precious and the element of freedom is something that I must cherish and certain negative things I just have to let go. Dead weight takes a toll. From last year, up until now, the route I've took has been bumpy, smooth, and confusing. But in the end, it took me to me to something that I will cherish forever. And that is freedom.. I am free." -Serenity S.
Sound Alike/Lyrics:
I used to think you were my everything, and how you were so sweet Turns out you're more like my nothing, but I'm standing on my feet You probably thought that I'd fall now, hiding in such despair When you walked away I swear, it was like a breath of fresh air
I can breathe now, I can breathe now A beautiful sun blocked by such a nasty clo-o-oud Nasty clo-o-oud I put my hands up, I let my guard down Thought I'd be silent but I am getting lo-o-oud Getting lo-o-oud
I'm shouting ,'this is my freedom!' You can see just how far I've come I'll take the punches you throw me Show me, you molded me This is my decree This is my freedom
Hey, Oh Hey, Oh This is my freedom Hey, Oh Hey, Oh
It doesn't matter how many times I've cried, everyone's gonna see what they see Not wasting my time trying to explain, I know it's between you and me I'm letting my hair down tonight, gonna move on with my good life When you walked away I swear, it was like no other feeling could compare
Fool me once and shame on you Fool me twice and shame on me You won't fool me again I will not be your victim You won't ever understa-a-a-and
(Because I'm) I'm shouting ,'this is my freedom!' You can see just how far I've come I'll take the punches you throw me Show me, you molded me This is my decree This is my freedom
Hey, Oh Hey, Oh This is my freedom! Hey, Oh Hey, Oh Show me, you molded me This is my decree This is my freedom!
