I'd be tempted to go Blackened from ...And Justice For All.

Teen Age Riot by Sonic Youth is another good one.

Oh and on The Haunted's debut album, Hate Song was pretty much as good an opening as you could ask for.

There's alot of candidates. On Life Of Agony's River Runs Red you've got This Time.

Goddammit, another one that should have been mine...Upon reflection, I'd sub out of my list Everything in Its Right Place for Teen Age Riot or Schizophrenia from Sister.

For me, "Not yet" by Ayumi Hamasaki (Japanese singer), is the best opening track ever. She have many others "intro", that are good too, but "Not yet" is the perfection.

Ayumi Hamasaki - Not Yet (Click me!)

Also, "I am..." from her 4th album, "I am...", is a good Pop/Rock track.

Ayumi Hamasaki - I am... (from ARENA TOUR 2002) (Click me!)
