Birth Name: Amelle Sebert Common Name: ‘Miami’ Born: July 14, 1993 (Age 20) Origin: Miami, Florida Genres: Pop, Rap, Rap-Rock, Hip Hop, Electro-Pop Years Active: 2013 – Present Label: Songs to Love and Die By Occupation: Rapper, Songwriter, Model ‘Amelle Sebert’ (born July 14, 1993) also known by her stage name ‘Miami’, is an American musician originally from Miami, Florida and currently residing in Brooklyn, New York. As an only child her parents both died tragically in a car accident when she was three years old which resulted in Amelle being put into foster care. A quiet and introverted young girl from a very early age, she had very little social skills and often spent a lot of times alone, her perception of the world changed to a more cynical view as she grew old and she describes her high school years as “Some form of social torture.” she states that there could be entire days when nobody would say a single word to her and she states that it had an large effect on her life, she states that her high school years led her to the decision to live to only please herself and this is a mentality that she strongly believes in, “I don’t care if I come across as self-involved or arrogant, the only person that I know I can trust and understand fully is myself.”After leaving high school, Amelle was quick to leave her foster situation behind her and start an independent life of her own. She got a job working at a sushi restaurant in Miami and managed to scrape enough money together to find her own place to live, she then took another job in order to maintain some sort of financial security and then a third job came in the form of a waitress at a nightclub which she would take on Saturday nights. The three jobs left Amelle with very little time to herself but it was about taking care of herself and being independent, “I’m like any chick, I like to have nice things and to have nice things you gotta earn money to pay for em’. Either that or just find a sugar daddy, but that ain’t my style”. Amelle had harboured interest in the arts, from music to modelling to acting, but it was music that was a passion for Amelle, she would write songs whenever she found the inspiration and perform as often as time would allow, but nothing seemed to happen and it looked like music would remain just a hobby. She moved out to Brooklyn in late 2012 and started working at a nightclub called ‘Alley Cats’, it was a job that brought more money to Amelle that her wages from the three jobs that she worked at in Miami and so financially she was quite comfortable. She started performing in clubs around the Brooklyn and Manhattan scene, there was the occasional murmur of interest but nothing substantial ever seemed to happen. In early 2013, Amelle was performing at a club in New York City, the club was owned by a friend of Riot! In The Boulevard rhythm guitarist Adam Benjamin who happened to recommend Amelle to the musician, he then passed on this recommendation to Amy Meyer and following a couple of months of interest, Amelle was offered a record contract with ‘Songs to Love and Die By’, her strong work ethic continues as Amelle still works at the aforementioned nightclub while she works on her music in the process.
