OOC: i completely understand.

"I know...and you're right," he says, nodding. "I just feel so...old now. It's like, once you have kids, your life is just going to be taking care of them, and then you die...it's fucking terrifying. I'm only 23 and I feel years older." He looks over at his wife, half smiling. "At least we can be the cool young parents. All the other parents at PTA meetings will be all wrinkly and old." He looks back down at Sylvie. "If she has kids when she's our age, then we'll be grandparents in our 40's...trippy."

"We will always be the coolest people I know," he says reassuringly. "Responsible adults...unlike us..." he says, laughing a bit. "That's another thing I feel bad about...I mean, I want these kids to have a good...relatively normal life. But...you're in one of the biggest bands in music right now, I'm in Acts of Hate...it's going to be hard. I know that right now we're both kind of on break from music, but...what about next year? the year after that? What happens when we go on tour? What happens during all of that? It's all so complicated..." he sighs, looking down at the baby. "You should've come with an instruction manual.." he says quietly to Sylvie.

"That's the problem," Sam says. "I mean, what if we both go on tour? Who do we leave them with? I mean, my mom would love to do it, but I'd feel bad just...dumping them on her. Our friends? They're not exactly the most responsible people we know. I'm torn, too..." he says, shaking his head. "I love being a musician...it's what I've always wanted to do. But I also don't want to miss a single important moment in these kids lives."

Sam looks at her. "You don't want them staying with your parents?" he asks. "I understand why, and I'm sure my mom would love to take care of them, but...are you sure?" he says. He thinks for a minute, and then decides to just go ahead and ask. "Do you want your parents to be...involved with our kids at all?"

Sam nods. "I understand. It's completely up to them." He looks down at Sylvie. "If they don't want to be involved, it's their loss," he says, planting a kiss on the baby's head. Sylvie looks up wondrously at her father, still wide awake. Sam sighs tiredly. "Have you heard from Ada or Erich at all?" he asks after a while. Along with the babies, he's also been quite worried about his two friends.

"I guess not..." Sam says. "Although...I thought he was going to adjust to it better, that's all. I guess I'm just too optimistic. When he and Ada had that party, I showed up and he wasn't even drinking. I was really proud of him. But I suppose it's harder than that...to go from living however you want, with no restrictions, to being a responsible human being. Jeez."

He looks at her, a bit surprised by the question. "I...don't know. I haven't really stopped to think about it." He pauses, thinking. "I feel...different. I mean, before this the only things in my life I cared about were you and our friends and family...but now these kids have got me thinking about what's going to happen. I mean, in the future. It's more stressful, and I know we're both giving up a lot of things by having these kids...but it doesn't really feel bad, you know? I feel like I'm ready for this. I feel like we're ready for this, you know?" he says, looking at her lovingly. He looks her up and down, eyes tracing every inch of the woman he loves. "Do you...feel the same way?" he asks. A moment passes, and then he asks quieter, "are you happy?"

He gently squeezes her hand, nodding. "I completely understand...it's scary and amazing and overwhelming, all at the same time. But in the end...I know we'll be okay. I don't have any regrets. I'm ready for this." He puts his arms around her. "Do you...have any regrets?" he asks quietly.

"I guess we should," he says, beaming down at Sylvie. "I'll put her to bed," he says, standing up and trying not to wake the baby. "I love you, Nichole. More than anything."
