Serenity Scott: I absolutely adore and admire how diverse you are when it comes to your music. Diversity is something so unique to me and you rarely see that these days. This album is getting a 5/5 from me Vara! All of these songs are great and therefore, picking a favorite is extremely hard.

OOC: Great job Hannah! I love this Vara character! :)

OOC: Thank you so much! She's one of my favorites as well!

Vara: Mwah! Thank you so much, Serenity! It's so good to see you making music again as well. xoxox thanks for listening, baby!

TITLE: Thirteen
BY: Varanese Gallo
LENGTH: 3:09
GENRE: Alternative metal, experimental rock, alternative rock, progressive rock
LABEL: Titanic Records

Thirteen is one of the darker songs on the album, but it's also one of the most meaningful, and it gives the album it's name as it features the lyric about lover's eyes. The song is Vara/Alice singing to the Hatter as they walk towards the Queen's castle to try to send Alice back to the real world. The Hatter has finally got up enough courage to tell Vara that there is no way that he can go back with her, and Vara is taking it with a surprising amount of emotion. At first, she thinks that the Hatter is just being pessimistic, saying that he can't go with her because the Queen won't let him or because it would be too hard. She spends the first two verses angry at his pessimism, explaining that nothing will work out if he continues thinking negatively, insisting that if he just believes that he can come with her to the real world, then he will be able to. There's a small pause in the song - no music, no words, the pause is a representation of the Hatter finally explaining to Vara why he can't come with her. Now Vara is simply upset with the Hatter for lying to her all this time and getting her hopes up about them being together forever. She still wishes that he could come with her, as she does still love him, but she's far too angry at him to even try to convince him to attempt to come with her anyway. "So bury yourself, there's a shovel by your side / You bury yourself even further every time / You bury yourself, there's a shovel by your side / Seems to be a better comfort / Than a lover's eyes," she sings to him. Burying himself is both a metaphor - stating that every time he tells her that he can't come with her and every time that he admits to this lie that he told her, he's becoming more and more dead to her, and also more and more dead to himself, as being away from Vara is going to kill him on the inside - but also there's a realistic hint to it as Wonderland is underground and they keep pushing themselves farther and farther away from the real world if they won't even let part of Wonderland leave. The role changes in the next verse - even though physically it is still Vara singing - she is now singing as the Hatter towards Vara, singing that he loves Vara and knew that she would never try to leave if she knew that the Hatter couldn't come with her, and that's why he lied. He sings the same chorus as Vara/Alice did before, but when singing as the Hatter, the chorus has a different meaning. The chorus through the Hatter is him telling her that if she chooses to stay here, she'll be dead inside like the rest of the people in Wonderland, but he seems to be saying, "Go ahead. Be dead like the rest of us. That empty feeling of not really living must be a better comfort than me." It's a lose-lose situation on both ends - Vara won't be with the person she loves, but she will be in the real world if she leaves; she won't be really living in Wonderland, but she will get to stay with a boyfriend who she may come to resent for not making her go back to the real world if she stays. It's up to the listener to decide who sings, "I don't understand how / What happened to your esteem / You're so beautiful to me," depending on who's side they are taking in this small argument. If they believe that Vara has every right to be angry at the Hatter, then Vara singing this towards him would mean that she's still in love with him, but he seems different to her now that she sees that he's been lying to her this whole time. Or if you take the Hatter's side and think that he was right to lie to her because that's the only way that she would leave Wonderland, then it would be him saying that he regrets lying to her - even though it was the right thing - and greatly misses the old Vara before she knew that he was lying. The chorus is sung two more times before the song ends on a sad, but conclusive note, both of them realizing that there's nothing they can do to change the past, and they have to keep moving forward - towards the Queen's castle.

You see the world through a stained window
Or maybe I just don't see at all
It never makes any sense
When you choose not to use your head

You believe that your heart will lead to reality
We give in every time
Weave the rope and you've tied our hands

I've always watched you fall
I'm too far to even crawl behind
You think there's nothing above you
Just a sky of lies
You don't believe in blue skies

So you bury yourself, there's a shovel by your side
You bury yourself even further every time
You bury yourself, there's a shovel by your side
Seems to be a better comfort
Than a lover's eyes

I've put my hand up to be on your team
Racing mind, sideline smile for your needs
I've tried to refrain
But watching you walk through that fire is a burden
That I can't carry

So you bury yourself, there's a shovel by your side
You bury yourself even further every time
You bury yourself with that shovel by your side
Seems to be a better comfort
Than a lover's eyes

I don't understand how
What happened to your esteem
You're so beautiful to me

So you bury yourself, there's a shovel by your side
You bury yourself even further every time
You bury yourself, thee's a shovel by your side
Seems to be a better comfort
Than a lover's eyes

So now we don't talk, but your name's still on my shoulder
And now you've learned to eat lies and spit out what's inside
Somehow in this life, there's a shovel growing old
Seems to be a better comfort
Seems to be a better comfort
Than your lover's eyes

TITLE: Fourteen
BY: Varanese Gallo
LENGTH: 8:50
GENRE: Instrumental rock, post-metal, post-rock
LABEL: Titanic Records

The Queen of Wonderland - who is, in fact the Queen of Hearts, if a very jealous and very selfish woman. She wants not only her title to be Queen of Hearts, but also she actually wants to be the queen of everybody's heart to the point where every man in the world loves and wants only her. She spies Vara and the Hatter approaching her castle and immediately notes the way that they act around each other: Holding hands, staying close, fleeting eye glances. They're in love. This angers the Queen as she feels that only she should be loved by the men in her Wonderland - but more specifically because the Hatter is so handsome, and the one that is sought after by most women. But she puts on her queenly face, ready to do whatever can be done to make herself happy, but also make the people of her land happy as well. Vara and the Hatter approach the Queen in her throne room timidly - the Hatter knowing the Queen's feelings towards him and other women, but Vara none the wiser. Vara complains to the Queen that she needs to get back to her own world, but she and the Hatter have fallen in love with each other. She asks if the Queen can do anything to help them, and the Queen answers back calmly - although she is boiling with rage (that the Hatter is in love with this other woman) and excitement (that soon the other woman will be far away) on the inside. The Queen does tell her, however, that she has the power to send Vara back to her own world. Although this isn't what Vara and the Hatter want, of course, they knew that it would probably be the only solution they had, so they take it. The Queen points her royal scepter at a stone wall on the far end of the throne room and calls out, "Ostium revelare!", revealing a secret door with stone stairs. The staircase seems to have some sort of purple glow to it as it pulsates a magical aura. Vara is surprised and fascinated by these obviously magical stairs, but to the Queen and the Hatter, magic like this is completely normal to them. Vara and the Hatter approach the stairs, both of them obviously devastated that they had to leave each other. With every tear that the Hatter sheds over Vara, the Queen gets more and more upset by them. Finally, Vara and the Hatter share a passionate embrace, which sends the Queen over the edge of anger. She points her scepter at Alice, call out, "Et vade!", sending Vara flying through the air, away from the Hatter, landing on the third stair of the magical staircase. The Hatter tries to run after her, but can't. Nothing of the Wonderland world is allowed to leave the Wonderland world, and the staircase is a portal away from it. Vara tries to go down the stairs, but the magic won't let it descend - only ascend. Vara stays on the third stair, crying, until the Queen shouts out, "Ascendo!," forcing Vara's body to walk up the stairs, unable to look back. The Hatter turns to the Queen, angry and devastated that he never really got to say goodbye to Vara before she was forced up the stairs. This is when the lyrics of the song starts. The song is almost nine minutes long, and most of it is the instrumentation of Vara and the Hatter's plight against the Queen as Alice climbs the long staircase. The Queen, in the song, tries to rationalize her choices to the Hatter, stating that she's been trying to get his attention for so long, and he never paid any attention to her when she was acting nice, so she thought the way to get his attention was to be bad. The end of the song, as all the music fades out with just the soft, almost organ-piano type sound playing, is Vara as she reaches the top of the stairs and finds that they lead to right where they was before she jumped down the Rabbit Hole. She turns around to look at the stairs behind her and there's nothing there but grass.

I want to see you, baby
I want to be your girl
I want you to see
I'm everything
That you're looking for
I want to be so right

I tried nice
You don't seem
To see me here
Beside you
It's time I tried
Something new

I think you're ready, baby
I can change the lights
I'll make you believe
Anything you think you see
When you're thinking of me
I'm going to wind up with
Something new

I tried nice
Bad girl here
Now pay the price
For selfish
It's time I tried out
Something new

I tried nice
You don't look twice
To see me here
Beside you
It's time I tried out
Something new
Something new
Something new

I tried nice
You don't seem
To see me here
Beside you
It's time I tried out
Something new

TITLE: Fifteen
BY: Varanese Gallo
LENGTH: 2:47
GENRE: Trip-hop, alternative rock, experimental rock
LABEL: Titanic Records

Fifteen starts off the section of the album called Back Again, which is what happened when Vara/Alice came back from Wonderland. Fifteen has a certain tropical paradise feeling to it as she thinks about wanting to go back to Wonderland. Vara is suffering from what happens when you're away from a place for a while: You think it's better than what it really is. She goes back to the same place where she had found the hole before, and sees that there is a new Rabbit Hole there. Of course, she takes the chance and jumps down it, following it like she did before, hoping that she will find herself back in Wonderland and with the Hatter for the second time. She sings to the Hatter and to Wonderland, saying, "This is the same old blood flow / My heart beats like this before / But you feel so brand new to me / I've been washed ashore," talking about how, even though she has gone down this path before, she is so excited to be there again that everything feels so brand new. She also sings, "You've got my voice in your hands / I've got your voice in my head / One word is all that's left / Unsaid." Of course, that word was "love" between her and the Hatter, as neither of them had the chance to admit that they were in love with each other before the Queen sent Vara back into the Real World. As Vara continues on throught the cavern that led her to Wonderland before, she starts to notice that things are different. She can't spot any creatures in the darkness that are waiting for her, the air feelings different - less fanciful and light, and she comments many times throughout the song that she feels "Speachless" and quiet, where the first time that she fell down the Rabbit Hole, she had no problem singing and talking the entire time. She sees a light at the end of the tunnel and immediately runs towards it, assuming that it is Wonderland. She throws herself into the exit of the cave, ready to greet the Hatter or the Cheshier Cat, or whoever is at the other end.... when she finds herself exiting the same Rabbit Hole that she had entered not a few minutes before, still in the Real World. A soft cackle is heard somewhere - obviously from the Queen, as this has all been a trick by the Queen to crush Vara - as Vara sits down by the Rabbit Hole, crying, feeling completely depressed and dejected.

Here goes the same thing around again
No, I'll never learn
You're in the deep end
I don't know how to swim
But I'm jumping in

Where I was lead to
But I was distracted
By the line you drew me to
Whatever lies in you

Here goes the same thing around again
No, I'll never learn
You're in the deep end
I don't know how to swim
But I'm jumping in

This is the same old blood flow
My heart beats like this before
But you feel so brand new to me
I've been washed ashore

You've got my voice in your hands
I've got your voice in my head
One word is all that's left
Unsaid

Life used to be dark
Can't believe when I dropped, I fell hard
Knocked my tongue right out of my mouth
You took the words away
Before I could make out
What I was going to say
Picked me up, back up
With the sweep of your breath
You've rendered me
You've rendered me...
Speachless

Here goes the same thing around again
I'll never learn
You're in the deep end
I don't know how to swim
I'm jumping in

Lost in a silent movie
Moths move
No words are spoken
We've both got something to say
Sound's been broken

You've got my voice in your hands
I've got your voice in my head
One word is all that's left
Unsaid
One word is all that's left
Unsaid

TITLE: Sixteen
BY: Varanese Gallo
LENGTH: 4:23
GENRE: Alternative rock, electronica, indie pop, indie rock
LABEL: Titanic Records

The storyline of Sixteen takes places a few days after Fifteen. Sixteen is Vara/Alice's way of saying that she's done crying over the fact that she can't simply walk into Wonderland, like the did the last time. She's decided that she's going to get back through whatever way necessary. Meanwhile, Vara's family and friends are starting to get very worried about her. All she has done lately is sit outside by the Rabbit Hole, talking about some sort of world inside of it. They're afraid that she's on drugs and want to do something to help her, but they can't do anything until they know for sure what's going on. Vara, of course, hasn't even thought about what her family and friends might think of the way that she's acting, as she is so focused on Wonderland and getting to see the Hatter again that it's become an obsession for her. At the end of the song, she swears that she'll get the Hatter back and that she'll get back to Wonderland as the obsession goes deeper into her psyche.

How do I open this door
Keeping my straight face
Right to the floor
You've gotten old just
Sitting in my pocket
And I've been told it's
Not worth the hassle
That is takes to fight
This losing battle
Hanging my head is disgrace
I'm better off walking away

I swear, I'll get it back
I know that I want that
I know I'll get you back

All you thought to be
Has gone to waste
One to many prints
On your face
Just give me one more run
Not about that anymore
I'm holding onto what I've done
I've got to let this ride
If luck is on my side
And what I have to lose
Is barely a lie

I swear, I'll get it back
I know that I need that
I know I'll get you back

I know what I need
All it takes
To get it back is
Take it back
What belongs to this
Is that it's not going to
Be about that anymore
This old weight holds me down
Break me down
See through the score
Alright
I need wrong
Busted
Before the calm
Trusted
Well, fuck this
What for?
I'll demand it

I'll get it back
I know I want you back
I'll get it back
I know I need you back
I'll get it back
I know I love you, that
I'll get it back
I know I'll get it back

TITLE: Seventeen
BY: Varanese Gallo
LENGTH: 4:06
GENRE: Alternative rock, alternative metal
LABEL: Titanic Records

In the last few songs of the album, Seventeen is the one with the big reveal. Vara/Alice's family are done wondering what is wrong with Vara and why she is spending all of her time at this Rabbit Hole, talking about Wonderland and how to get back to it. They go into her room and find several syringes. It is revealed that Vara has had a very heavy coke habit in the past and has now obviously relapsed. It is at this point that the listener/reader/audience should be realizing that Vara never went to Wonderland and never saw a Cheshier Cat or the Queen or even the Hatter. She was just having vivid hallucinations from the coke. She has been meeting her dealer at the Rabbit Hole, and then immediately getting high, which is what has caused her to associate the Rabbit Hole with going to Wonderland. Now her dealer - who looks exactly like the Hatter that she met in Wonderland - is back and Vara is more than ready to go back to Wonderland again. This song is the song that the dealer/the Hatter is singing to his customers - or, more exclusively, Vara - telling them that this is a money making business, and if they want what they want (ie. going back to her "Wonderland"), they need to fork over the money. The song's slowness mixed with it's eeriness makes the dealer seem almost like a god among men - giving these addicts exactly what they need to be happy and asking only for money in return. Although we can say that he is abusing the power that he has over these people because of their addictions, to Vara, he is her savior - like somebody trying to rescue her like the Hatter was. The song is a mixture between what Vara thinks she sees in this dealer - the soft music giving him an air of beauty and decency - and how the dealer really is - the lyrics asking them for money to get what they want, showing his creed and corruption towards addicts who need help.

I'm going to get you
One, two, three
I'm going to be you
Guarentee
I'm going to make this
Fit, you see
Turn it into
Make believe

I'm going to make this fit
Turn it into fantasy
I'm going to do what you please
Follow me
One, two, three

You'll want to hear about it
Reading your mind off my sleeve
You'll want to hear about it
I'm on my feet until they bleed, saying

Give it to me
I mean your cash
Give it to me
I want all of that
Give it to me
I said money
From the start, no apologies

I'm going to get you
One, two, three
I'm going to get you
Turn it into fantasy
I'm going to ge- get you
I'm going to do what you please
Follow me

You'll want to hear about
I'm on my feet until they bleed, saying

Give it to me
I mean the cash
Give it to me
I want all of that
Give it to me

It's your name and it's on the fence
Let's give in to the pretending

Give it to me

TITLE: Eighteen (feat. Mariko Kobayashi)
BY: Varanese Gallo & Mariko Kobayashi
LENGTH: 4:30
GENRE: Post-industrial, experimental, electronica
LABEL: Titanic Records

Eighteen is the song that Vara Gallo wrote with her best friend - and possible past occassional lover - Mariko Kobayashi. The flow from Seventeen into Eighteen is almost seamless, with us going straight from Vara with the dealer/the Hatter, buying the coke, and then immediately into her using it. While Vara Gallo is still the Vara/Alice character that we've known throughout the entire album, Mariko's character is also one that we've known the entire time as well: Her addiction. Mariko represents in this song the personification of Vara's coke addiction as Vara begins to fade in and out of consciousness as she overdoses. The lyrics in this song don't always make sense, using metaphors for a fish being life - much like in William Faulkner's As I Lay Dying - and Vara and her addiction singing together as she drifts farther away from the real world. The addiction is openly not a 'good' character in this album, as she repeatedly sings, "I'll dig my hands in," acknowledging that she has a hold on Vara that she isn't letting go of easily. Most of the song is Vara singing a confusing mess of thoughts that would simulate what a coke user would be thinking while they were under the influence, and then the chorus, which is Vara and Mariko singing together with Mariko's single solo line, "I'll dig my hands in," but this is one eeiry, almost terrifying moment of the song where Mariko sings, "Race me to defeat / Put it on repeat / I'm not done yet," claiming that while to the audience, this might seem like Vara has reached rock bottom, the addiction isn't through with her yet. Both Vara and Mariko's voice mesh so well together in the song that it's hard to tell who is singing when they are singing together, which is why the single line that Mariko sings alone in the chorus is so haunting and terrifying.

Vara
Mariko
Both

Reeling me in, not afraid
To treat me like a fish
I can be smooth as I want to be
But it's no guarantee
That I'll be better than me
Someday instead
I'll just keep wanting you anyways
And I'll be
Be digging deep

Reel me in
I'll give in
Until I win
Hold me up

I'll dig my hands in
Reel me in
I'll give in
Until I win
Hold me up

I'll dig my hands in

Keep to the surface
You'll be
A place that I can't breathe
Not used to feeling
Less than me
Less than incomplete
You know that I cannot drown
But it's not safe to be found
You throw me away
And I'll be
Be digging deep

Race me to defeat
Put it on repeat
I'm not done yet

Reel me in
I'll give in
Until I win
Hold me up

I'll dig my hands in
Reel me in
I'll give in
Until I win
Hold me up

I'll dig my hands in

Reel me in
I'll give in
Reel me in
I'll give in

Hold me up, I'll dig my hands in

Reel me in
I'll give in
Until I win
I'll give in

Hold me up, I'll dig my hands in

Reel me in
I'll give in
Until I win
Hold me up

I'll dig my hands in
Reel me in
I'll give in
Until I win
Hold me up

I'll dig my hands in

Daniel: Don't know when exactly this will be released, but this is a must have whenever it's made available!

OOC: Sorry it took me too long to reply, but I finally got a chance to check the songs out and I just gotta say incredible job on this! I mean the variety of sounds and genres you used and yet it all still flows very well, it really is your best RP to date!

Vanity: I know there's still one song left to hear, but I just wanted to say how incredibly in love I am with this record, it really is so striking and different. I don't give many artists the time of the day, but this really is fabulous, darling! From the whole theme that's running through the album, to the lyrics, to the vast range of genres blended together, you've impressed the fuck out of me.

OOC: Catching up on some of this too, I'm in love with the lyrics & the consistency of the RP. I know you've been posting the songs for a while now, so great job. :)

Vara: Oh, Vanity, you beautiful piece of art, mwah mwah mwah! Thank you, darling. I need somebody to put that on my gravestone. "Vara Gallo: Impressed the fuck out of Vanity." The end. You're wonderful. Thank you!

TITLE: Nineteen
BY: Varanese Gallo
LENGTH: 3:35
GENRE: Electronic rock
LABEL: Titanic Records

Here we are, at the very end of the story/album. Recap: Vara/Alice found a Rabbit Hole and struggled with her inner self as to if she should jump down it or not, but eventually does and finds herself in a dark tunnel filled with magnificent, but also terrifying things for her to encounter. Eventually she finds her way into Wonderland, where she meets the Hatter, who she falls in love with. The Hatter knows that Vara can't stay in Wonderland forever, so he takes her to the Queen to try to send her back to her own world, but the Queen is in love with the Hatter and sends Vara back into the real world without giving Vara a chance to say goodbye to the Hatter. Now Vara has spent several days trying to go back to Wonderland so she can see her love. Or at least that's what we've been told. In reality, Vara is a coke addict who has vivid hallucinations caused by her drug of choice. None of what she thinks happened really happened, and she's not in the right mind to put two and two together. In the last song, she finally got her fix, but overdosed - as Mariko, who played the addiction sang in the penultimate song: "Race me to defeat / Put it on repeat / I'm not done yet." At the beginning of this song, Vara wakes up in a hospital. Her family and friends had found her and called an ambulance just in time to save her. In her mind, while passed out, she had been walking through that same tunnel, and was about to enter Wonderland when she woke up. She's angry, as she still thinks that Wonderland is real, so she begins to yell at her friends and family around her, demanding that they bring her more drugs so that she can go back. As the song goes on, Vara begins to realize more and more than Wonderland isn't real. Wonderland was a place that she made up in her own head to retreat to so she didn't have to deal with her real problems, like her drug addiction. She continues to ask for drugs, not for Wonderland any longer, but for herself as depression starts to creep in and she realizes just how crazy the drugs made her. The last two repeated lines, "Intervention / Intervention," are her finally asking for help. As the last song ends, her friends and family agree to take her to rehab, where they are greeted by the same doctor that treated Vara's addiction before - a doctor that looks exactly like the Queen of Wonderland. As Vara walks into the hospital, she looks behind her and sees her family and friends, but also sees the Cheshire Cat waving goodbye. She waves back and then walks through the hospital doors.

Why do you
Drive me crazy
This disturbing
Cemetery
Where you had
To go unbury
You brought it up
So listen carefully

Prick the needle and
Let the ink in
Watch it sink in
Under my skin
Driving me crazy

You think that
I'd have thicker skin
Since you're underneath it
But I'm paper thin

Prick the needle and
Let the ink in
Watch it wink in
Under my skin
Driving me crazy

You don't know
What makes me tick
I almost forgot
That you exist

Prick the needle are
Let the ink in
Watch it sink
Under my skin
Driving me crazy
Intervention
Intervention

Kai Rollins: Strong women in music are like strong cheese, better when Kai is eating them. I mean, hey, and I have just listened to your album. This is the sort of solo work that I think needs more exposure. You're a belting singer and a bit of a firecracker. Also you make a mean ass song, and I love that. Emotions, bro!

OOC: Great work on all of this Hannah. It always amazes me how you manage to write so many songs and keep the standard of your lyrics up :) Great work.

Vara: Oh, Mr. Rollins. You're a few months too late on a chance of nibbling on any part of me, but thank you. ;) You're too cute.

OOC: Oh my gosh, thank you. I was afraid it sucked. :)

Vara: Oh no! We can't have that! Although an angry Mariko is a sexy Mariko... ;) Hehehe, kidding.
