In The Boulevard’s fourth studio album ‘Wild Young Things’. It was written by Amy Meyer at a New York City Apartment in July 2013 during a break from the world tour. The song is about positivity over negativity, something that the flame-haired lead singer Amy Meyer believes in very strongly, “I was always brought up in that positive mind space, I was born into a family that takes their religion and faith very importantly. Born into a family that always encouraged positivity and not being afraid to aim high and I think I took some of that influence from them into my own adult life. I’ve had my own struggles and I still have my own struggles but I’ve always believed that I’ll grow stronger as a result of that. I’ve lived by the ‘accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative’ motto throughout my life and anything that I’ve had to deal with and I think this song has elements of that within it, I mean the line ‘You’re the poison spitting out your venom and bile/I’m the antidote, pain relief with a smile’ is really just my own re-wording of that old phrase to an extent.” The song begins with a strong lead guitar and bass guitar combination, quickly followed by a steady powerful drum beat provided by Nathan Mullen which quickly sets the scene. The opening lyrics in particular show a slightly eerie moment from the band as Amy almost whispers the words, ‘You don’t know me/Eyes looking at me/Secretly judging/Whisper/Ice queen.’ shows a dark lyric beginning to the song, but it quickly changes to its positive aspect as Amy sings about refusing to change for anybody and acknowledging that she has flaws but re-affirms that she still won’t change who she is, admitting that she likes it that way. And then comes the songs main body, a powerful lead vocal and guitar combination as Amy sings, “You’re the poison spitting out your venom and bile/I’m the antidote, pain relief with a smile/You’re like a hurricane leaving behind you a trail of the dead/I’m the congregation, preaching words that go straight over your head.” and the quality just keeps going from there on. Lyrics “You don’t know me! you don’t know me! you don’t know me ... yet! Eyes looking at me! eyes looking at me! eyes looking at me! Secretly judging! secretly judging! secretly judging! Whisper! whisper! whisper! Ice queen! ice queen! ice queen! Well here I am! In The Boulevard’, it is taken from their upcoming fourth studio album ‘Wild Young Things’ and will serve as the first ever promotional single from the young pop-punk outfit. The song is also rumoured to make an appearance on an upcoming summer E.P titled ‘Fading Colors’ which is expected to be released from the group of musicians within the coming weeks, the version expected to appear on the E.P is a stripped down acoustic version rather than the full version that you’re hearing today. This single follows on from the previous effort from the band titled ‘To All Of The Names Written On The Inside Of My Arm’ which served as the lead single from their next studio collection ‘Wild Young Things’ and it has continued the bands remarkable run of hit singles, peaking at the number #1 position on the Airplay singles chart, making it the sixth number one single released in this bands still relatively short career so far. The song was written sometime in May 2013, the majority of the song was created by rhythm guitarist Adam Benjamin with additional help from Amy Meyer. It’s one of the rare times that the lead singer of the band hasn’t had such a major input into the song but she recently spoke about the song, “It’s a great track, it perfectly hits the sort of theme that we’re going with for the next album. And the whole Half-Moon thing is something that Adam truly believes in, so it was a great opportunity for him to express his own styles and influences so heavily in a Riot! In The Boulevard track. It’s something that I like to encourage within the band, it’s a creative and collaborative environment and I love to see everybody putting a little bit of themselves into the songs that we’re recording and I’ve gotta say that this track is 100% Adam. In The Boulevard’s fourth studio album ‘Wild Young Things’. This track was written by Amy Meyer and has already been described in early reviews of the album that this song is a ‘call-out’ or even a ‘tribute’ to her fellow band mates, but it according to Amy Meyer, the song goes far beyond just her band mates, “It’s a song for everybody that I’ve came in contact with over in my whole life. Sure it’s a song for Adam, Justin, Nathan and Jason, of course it’s for them, I love those guys with all of my heart and without them, then this band wouldn’t be here and without them, I’m not even sure that I’d be here. They’re the biggest part of my life, but at this moment, with everything that we’ve been blessed with and everything that we’ve managed to achieve, I just wanted to sort of close the record with a tribute or a thank you or a whatever you want to call it, for everybody that has played a part, be it a significant part of an insignificant part, it doesn’t matter because it’s still a part and I felt like the right time to just stop and say, thanks” The track begins with a guitar and piano combination, creating a relatively sombre and emotive feeling with the song, the combination of the electric guitars power and the melodic beauty of the opening piano introduction to the track gives it a somewhat tender feeling, something that the lyrics and theme certainly call out for in the song. The rhythm guitar, bass guitar and drums all make their arrival in the song when the second verse comes into play and already Amy is in full voice with her vocal delivery, singing out the chorus with a passion and tenderness that the words require, showing that the band are still able to change up from punchy pop-punk to tender almost balladeer-esque rock songs, and as a closing song, it just feels right. Jennifer: I've said it before and I'll say 100 times more, you're amaaazing. This album is one of my favorite band albums this year. It's great the amount of rock bands that have resurfaced but you guys will always be my favorite because I was a fan from the beginning. Now it's how many albums and hit singles, sold out tours, and overall influence later? This is a wonderful piece of work and I hope you guys stay around for a very long time to influence artists such as myself.

This is fantastic! Do I dare to say this is my favorite Riot album? I think so. They are so consistent with releasing such great music and I give you major props for writing some of the best lyrics that I've seen on here on this album. The sound alikes, te short but informative descriptios and even the insight into the song are all presented excellently. It's hard to choose a favorite here but I am going to go with "In A Separate State Of Mind". Keep this up Andrew, I know you will :P . Excellent job

Excellent job OOC: Thanks, It's definitely my favourite Riot! album so far, I wanted to try to find something that felt slightly different to their other songs but hopefully still managed to make it fit the band well, hopefully that came across too. I've always worked harder on making Riot! consistent more than my other characters that I've had (there's been a lot of em'). Glad that you liked it, though. Dunno if I have another full Riot! album in me, we'll see! haha thanks again! :)

It's obvious that you put in a lot of effort on this album RP and it all undoubtedly turned out to be something remarkable and outstanding and I'm being 100% honest. Brilliant, outstanding, remarkable.. I can't even find the correct word to describe this RP. Great job! You've always been one of my favorites lyricists on here but with this album, you've officially become my favorite! :) Serenity Scott: This album is outstanding in so many different ways. This is my favorite Riot! album so far. I can totally relate to some of these lyrics. Great job on this album guys! :)

I do think it's the best album RP that I've done though, mostly just because it best represents myself at this moment in time, all the words and theme's throughout the album have more of an effect on me than anything I've written before, it's why I was so eager to get the lyrics out there, with the preview I did before the album and then releasing the album ahead of schedule. Thanks once again for the kind comments, I enjoyed writing it! :) Amy: Thanks Serenity, I'm so glad that you rate the album so highly! :) We're always trying to find ways of outdoing ourselves and I feel like we've literally made the best album we could possibly create, haha we have nowhere left to go but down :(
