Imagine is the second studio album from Finnish recording artist Pixie Love. The album will be released through Titanic Records on November 5th, 2013, in the U.S. and November 7th worldwide. It is her first album to be released primarily in the United States as her previous album, LoveIsReal, was released only in select countries including her home country of Finland.

Background
In 2010, Pixie released her first ever studio album after winning a singing competition, the only singer from Finland to make it through. LoveIsReal was released and quickly rose up on the charts. The album focused on inspirational and slightly dark lyrics that focused on themes such as abuse and suicide in singles such as ‘Misery’ and ‘Absence’. The album sold a total of 1 million copies, making it a commercial success and enlisting her in a new contract until her label closed down and she was forced to search for a new one.

To follow up LoveIsReal, Pixie immediately began working on new material and would broaden her reach by targeting the U.S. as her source for the next album. She hoped to make this album almost like an introduction on who she was, saying it would be ‘a bunch of genres that somehow work together to make one, whole album on who I am as an artist and person.’ She also stated that it would be ‘similar but different’ to her previous album and sounds.

On the 19th of October, Pixie released her first single off the album, Walk Alone which debuted at the top of the charts and became one of the fastest rising music videos as well, gathering over a million views in one night. It marked her impression on the industry and has since then been called one of the best new artists of the year. Walk Alone showcased her unique voice backed by her Finnish accent and catchy Pop music but that was only the beginning.

During the course of her recording her album, Pixie was signed by Titanic Records, a week before she released her single. She would then spend months on her brand new album, giving more singles to create the imagery of her experimental album. She also teamed up with Steven Lillywhite who has worked and produced records for the likes of U2, The Killers, and Peter Gabriel.

Recording
The recording sessions for this album took place from November 2012 to September 2013, including while she went on tour with on the No Venues III Tour, Teen Titan’s Neon Lights World Tour, and Vanity’s The Sound Of Living tour. Unlike her previous album, Pixie had more of a say and produced and wrote more tracks as compared to her last album. She specifies this as one of the reasons this album will be better than her last, saying, ‘There’s more of myself in there and less hands ruining it.’ She frequently traveled from Los Angeles to New York, to Finland in order to record her vocals for the album. Pixie was joined by a few backup singers including Glamazon and Sunny Monroe, who also co produced and co wrote songs for the album. Some other producers she worked with include super prodcuer Gia Rose-Hilton, Rico Love, and mISTER_b.

Concept/Meaning Behind 'Imagine'
Even though it is not a concept album, Imagine still has one for it. “Imagine is all about the imagination. All the songs can be depicted in various ways but it gives the listeners more freedom to want the song to be about what they want. Whatever situation they are in, they can listen to the song and say ‘This song is for me right now.’ I think it’s special that way because I’m not force feeding thoughts into you, I’m giving you ideas and you can run with them, creating your own stories. For example, ‘Mermaids’ can be about actual mermaids or for me personally, it’s about being an outcast. This album is literally whatever it wants to be. If you can imagine it, it’s happening.” Imagine is also said to be stories from Pixie that were turned into lyrics later on in life, touching on topics from relationship abuse, murder, alcoholism, sex, love, poverty, depression, and so on. “Each song is something different in that it came from a specific chapter in my life, rather it be about me or someone around me, or even from just my imagination, each song is personal.”

Packaging
The artwork for Imagine was taken by professional photographer, Svetlana Yanna. It features Pixie in her ‘fairy’ mode with green hair and a mirror image beside her which resembles her kissing herself. It was announced that the digital booklet will feature pictures from the photoshoot in which Pixie is in a garden, in a fairytale like setting. The digital booklet will be available on iTunes when pre-ordered. Fairies will appear on the actual CD itself.

Promotion
Early promotion for the album started in a YAHOO! article when she mentioned the title of her upcoming album as well as describing the different genres that would be on there. As well as with her singles, Pixie embarked on a mini tour of 15 dates across America to promote the album and performing specially selected songs from the album that were, as she stated, ‘still in their rough and early stages that were received well by the audiences.’ She even took to Twitter, getting her fairies to trend the names of tracks on the album they wanted to hear a preview of which produced the snippets of ‘Mermaids’, ‘Catch Me If You Can’, and ‘Amethyst Rhapsody.’ She then took to her official website where previews of the lyrics were posted as well as 30 second clips of the beats. She is also sitting down with MTV and VH+1 for an interview on the album where she will expand more about the different tracks and how the album came to be. There are also rumors of Pixie's very first own headlining tour which may or may not happen until 2014.

Singles + Videos
Pixie released a total of 5 singles from Imagine, the last being a promo single with Glamazon.

Walk Alone was released on October 19th, 2012. It was announced as the first single via Twitter from Pixie herself, with extra promo from her label, Titanic Records. It was sent to radio and quickly became her first number one single. The synthpop song was praised for it’s unique sound and catchy chorus as well as infectious beat. The video gained 1 million views in one night, then going on to becoming her first VEVO certified video ever with over 100 million views in total.

The next single to be released was Bold on December 10th. It would be a powerpop song that had remarkably dark lyrics yet a fun beat to it. It’s chorus of ‘Na, na, na’s’ also helped to give it that extra pop feel to it. It would also debut number one on the charts.

Illusion was the third single released on March 19th. 2013 and would be her House debut. She also showed once again that dark lyrics did not always have to be accompanied by a dark and depressing tone. Again, this single would reach number one. It reached a total of 45 million views in 3 weeks.

REIGN made it’s live debut when Pixie surprised everyone and performed at the first ever GOLDIE’s awards by closing out the show. It was released as a single on July 16th, 2013, becoming Pixie’s fourth number one single from the album. The video quickly rose up in views, becoming her second VEVO certified video in 3 weeks.

The last and only collaboration from the album was GIANTS which features Glamazon. Pixie teased the song being a single on Twitter with the trends #PIXIEandGLAMAZON #GIANTS. The official single was released on September 27th, 2013 and was sent to radio stations as well. She is currently shooting the video for the single along with Glamazon which is set to premiere in October.

Pixie is also releasing those videos and her live performances of select songs from the album as a DVD for the DELUXE edition of Imagine.

Song Background + Description
"Mermaids"is the first track on Pixie's album, Imagine, and serves as the stepping stone for the rest of the record. Pixie wrote the song in a few hours and decided to record it but it wasn't until after the final days of mixing the album did she decide to put it on the album. Musically, "Mermaids" is an art pop and minimal song. It also has components of chillwave, ambient, and blues. The track has a similar rhythm to a snap song, with its instrumentation of "fingersnaps and toe-tapping bass." Although it's already a turn in the album, it opens the doors to the possibilities of the rest of the album and what it will sound like. Her vocals are also quite simple, using simple harmonies and for the most part, singing in the same pattern of notes for the track. Lyrically, the song is using the term 'Mermaid' as a metaphor for outcasts as she tells how people can become so fascinated with them yet treat them as if they are a different species when in fact, Mermaids have been proven to be related to the human race. She also goes on to talk about how others conform to treating them this way instead of stepping out and welcoming them with their differences, as noted in the second half of the pre-chorus, 'But you’re living like, prison, dirty, wishing what you could be/Tensed up, worried, nothing’s ever guaranteed/And I agree, you better live before it’s gone'.

Another factor to be noticed is the incorporation of hip hop elements. "I had been listening to a lot of different genres while I was recording and different artists. I think if you just sort of listen to the lyrics, most of it is either about being an outcast or they are separating themselves away from the world in some way. They want to be viewed in a different light so they try their best to make a point that they are not like anyone else on the planet, which is true. A lot of the American culture that I've witnessed is based on, you know, acceptance. If someone isn't accepted by a high demand then they are shoved to the side and they're told they don't matter. I think that's not fair and it's bullshit. I mean, if we can't, as a world, come to grips with how the world is changing and how people are then we're setting ourselves back even further. It encourages people to go out and find the mermaids in life, fine the people who may not look the same or act the same and still accept them because we're all humans on the inside. We shouldn't be so shallow as to let a religion or a piercing, their sexual preferences or their beliefs in politics, dehumanize people and cast them away."

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
My long hair shimmers through the water
But personality is the first thing you claim to see
My tail is never laid to rest
I just glide through trouble, with all kinds of ease

[Hook]
And everybody thinks sirens, sexy, can’t believe what I see
humble, mystic, equivalent to being free
And I agree, nothing better than being on my own
But you’re living like, prison, dirty, wishing what you could be
Tensed up, worried, nothing’s ever guaranteed
And I agree, you better live before it’s gone

[Chorus]
Cause we’re all just mermaids (Mermaids)
Swimming through this crazy world
We’ve all been watching others’ lives
Your cruelty cuts like a knife
And I’ll never harm you (Harm you)
That just ain’t in me
But you know, you know, you know, you know
There’s other fish living in the sea

[Verse 2]
I don’t ever wanna stay too close to home
There’s just too much world out there for me to be trapped
And we can all be a little too care-free
Yes we all treat life, like it’s one big party

[Hook]
And everybody thinks sirens, sexy, can’t believe what I see
humble, mystic, equivalent to being free
And I agree, nothing better than being on my own
But you’re living like, prison, dirty, wishing what you could be
Tensed up, worried, nothing’s ever guaranteed
And I agree, you better live before it’s gone

[Chorus]
Cause we’re all just mermaids (Mermaids)
Swimming through this crazy world
We’ve all been watching others’ lives
Your cruelty cuts like a knife
And I’ll never harm you (Harm you)
That just ain’t in me
But you know, you know, you know, you know
There’s other fish living in the sea

Oooh, ooooh, ohhh
Tell me all your hopes and dreams
Nothing’s always what it seems
Oooh, ooooh, ohhh
Everything we do with flair
At the same time we love your stares

[Chorus]
Cause we’re all just mermaids (Mermaids)
Swimming through this crazy world
We’ve all been watching others’ lives
Your cruelty cuts like a knife
And I’ll never harm you (Harm you)
That just ain’t in me
But you know, you know, you know, you know
There’s other fish living in the sea

Title: Walk Alone
Genre: Synthpop, Dance
Length: 3:24
Format:CD single, Digital Download
Recorded: September 2nd - October 4th 2012
Release Date: October 19th, 2012
Label: N/A
Written: September 1st
Writer(s): Pixie Love
Producer: Gia Rose-Hilton, Rico Love, Pixie Love

Background
Pixie may already be a hit in her home country of Finland, but can she cross over to the U.S airwaves? Even though this is her first single to debut in the the U.S, Pixie is no stranger to being unknown or starting from the bottom to work her way to the top. This is essentially what she'll have to do now if she wants to become a hit all over again. Not only was she dropped from her first label after promoting her first album Love Is Real, due to unknown reasons, but she was recently denied to be signed by Liberation/Nomad Records. It was like she couldn't catch a break but she didn't complain at all. Instead, she quickly went to working on new material in the hopes she would get signed to another label and try to regain her spotlight she once had. The debut single, Walk Alone, was recorded in early September and released on October 14th, 2012.

The track features some of the sound that will be heard on her album as well as the concept of it. As the first single from her brand new album, Imagine, it has a lot to be accountable for. It will serve as the platform for which the album stands on. Pixie currently is not signed to any label but she was recently discovered locally by super producer and label owner Gia Rose-Hilton. She was rumored to be scouting out new talent for husband Scott Rose-Hilton and came across the Finnish singer. Gia did not sign her but instead helped her to record her first few tracks for her album. After recording the song over the span of over a month, Pixie decided to release it as her first American debut single. Pixie is also going to perform the single and a few other tracks from her past album on a small promo tour so she can get her name out into the industry. When she returns, the singer will release a second single, hoping to get signed by a label in the near future.

Song Description
"Walk Alone" was written solely by Pixie Love and produced by Gia Rose-Hilton, Rico Love, and Pixie. "Walk Alone" features a very distinct rhythmic electronic beat primarily consisting of an electronic keyboard, synths and a short drum beat. Starting off with the strong and sexy vocals of Pixie while singing, "Cause I walk alone (lone, lone)", you can hear what appears to be whispers that are being repeated quickly and almost incoherently. The echo of the last word, "alone", is said in a crescendo as the pitch gets higher and higher, moving into an almost falsetto like voice. As it goes into the chorus, there's a build up of what sounds like suspense. The drum pattern can be heard faintly as it goes into the first verse of the song where it goes into the electronic keyboards and synths. She sings in a soft and delicate voice, each phrase in between said in a sexy whisper, until she sings the part of the song, "They will dwell on the past, You’ll never live/Always taking away, they never give", shifting into the turning point in the song where Pixie's hard hitting vocals reveal themselves, keeping a certain lightness to them as well. Nearing the end of the first verse, the drum beat comes back into play as she sings the breakdown between the verse and chorus.

The pounding bass of the song really shines during the hook. A short instrumental plays as she gets ready to sing the second verse of the single. Pixie returns to her delicate voice, almost sounding a little innocent but with a smirk on her face. She doesn't hold back either, holding up to the consistency of the first half of the song. Advancing to the Bridge of the song, it slows down with distorted drum beats as Pixie sings with such a fierceness in her voice that it really takes the breath away of the listener. She holds the last note in "backstabbin" and then continues on singing the chorus as the song reaches it's final climax. After the sudden rush of drum beats and synths, the song ends with Pixie saying the last line with an echo to it which closes the song out.

Pixie's Comments
Quote:
"The song represents independence. It's all about being able to stand on your own two feet or fly in the sky with your wings and doing the unthinkable, the impossible. It's about shutting the mouths of every person that said you wouldn't make it and it's about knowing yourself inside and out. It's a very positive song, it's everything that I believe it. I believe in this song even if nobody else does. I've struggled to get to this point so I have a lot to be thankful for. This song is a part of my testimony. I'm making a statement with this song and I'm going to do this and achieve all that I want to achieve regardless of anyone's thoughts or opinions."

"Finland should be proud of Pixie! She's what music is all about."

"It's not often that a new artist comes and stands out to the world. It's very rare to hear something different on the radio that isn't like the others. Once every so often, an artist will come along and make a statement. That statement should sound like this: 'I am a new artist and I'm nothing like the rest of perfectly manufactured singers you hear today. I'm going to make music that will define music and what it's all about just with 3-5 minutes of music.' Pixie Love is becoming more and more like that artist today. What makes Walk Alone stand out? It could be her unique voice. It could be her unique look. It's most likely going to be her unique sound. It makes you want to rip apart your brain and try to search of another song that sounds the same today but you can't find one because there isn't one. Pixie is slowly but surely becoming one of those unique and rare artists who we've longed for since the early days of Madonna. I'm not saying she is Madonna or will ever be Madonna but with a few right moves she could very well be her own generation's version of Madonna. Now this may sound like a lot of weight and hype on her shoulders but when you find something good, you hold on to it. I would not be surprised if she were to become music's next big thing.

Walk Alone is nothing short of amazing. It's catchy beat and chorus catches the attention of any listener and if it doesn't, I'm going to believe that you're deaf. Her Finnish roots shine bright as she sings but in a good way, a very good way. The sexy accent she carries adds more to her character. The story of the song is relateable and it's got the makings of an anthem all at the same time. It makes you wonder; who screwed this girl over and why does she sound so angry yet sexy? Then again, who cares?! She made this single so maybe she needs to continue to get screwed and belt out hits like this. It's been a while since we've seen an artist try to transition away from typical music like Lady GaGa. I just hope and pray that she stays true to herself, doesn't try to be too different while being different and doesn't ultimately disappoint us. Even when she was denied to be signed, kicked off her own label, and forced to start all over from scratch again with her career, she did it the right way. Finland should be proud of Pixie! She's what music is all about."

Lyrics

Cause I walk alone (lone, lone)
Cause I walk alone (lone, lone)
Cause I walk alone (lone, lone)
Cause I walk alone

[Chorus]
I was born alone, I’ll die alone, I walk alone
All the ones you love, They’ll turn on you, they’ll do you wrong
I was born alone, I’ll die alone, I walk alone
Don’t need no one, we’re always strong, We’ll walk alone

[Verse 1]
They’ll tear you down, rip you to shreds
(You must prepare)
Always talking about, what you have did
(It’s never fair)
They will dwell on the past, You’ll never live
Always taking away, they never give
But hold on, hold on
I’m building an army today
Yes hold on, ho-o-old on
Take out your heels and walk this way

We stand proud and tall
We’re always loud even when we fall
Nobody’s gonna have our backs like we do
Always Halloween with voodoo
You think I have a crowd, baby you ain’t seen nothing
Hating ain’t allowed, so stand out of my way, because

[Chorus]
I was born alone, I’ll die alone, I walk alone
All the ones you love, They’ll turn on you, they’ll do you wrong
I was born alone, I’ll die alone, I walk alone
Don’t need no one, we’re always strong, We’ll walk alone

Cause I walk alone (lone, lone)
Cause I walk alone (lone, lone)
Cause I walk alone (lone, lone)
Cause I walk alone

[Verse 2]
No time to play, this is my life
(You won’t forget)
When I started out, reaching my height
(My goal is set)
I’ve had enough, nothing is promised
Gotta go all in before it is missed
(Before it's missed)
But hold on, hold on
I’m building an army today
Yes hold on, ho-o-old on
Take out your heels and walk this way

We stand proud and tall
We’re always loud even when we fall
Nobody’s gonna have our backs like we do
Always Halloween with voodoo
You think I have a crowd, baby you ain’t seen nothing
Hating ain’t allowed, so stand out of my way, because

[Chorus]
I was born alone, I’ll die alone, I walk alone
All the ones you love, They’ll turn on you, they’ll do you wrong
I was born alone, I’ll die alone, I walk alone
Don’t need no one, we’re always strong, We’ll walk alone

Cause I walk alone (lone, lone)
Cause I walk alone (lone, lone)
Cause I walk alone (lone, lone)
Cause I walk alone

[Bridge]
I was born alone, I’ll die alone, I walk alone
All the ones you love, They’ll turn on you, they’ll do you wrong
I was born alone, I’ll die alone, I walk alone
They’ll do you wrong
I’m your best friend (But I’m backstabbin)

[Chorus]
I was born alone, I’ll die alone, I walk alone
All the ones you love, They’ll turn on you, they’ll do you wrong
I was born alone, I’ll die alone, I walk alone
Don’t need no one, we’re always strong, We’ll walk alone

I was born alone, I’ll die alone, I walk alone (I walk alone)
All the ones you love, They’ll turn on you, they’ll do you wrong (They’ll do you wrong)
I was born alone, I’ll die alone, I walk alone (I walk alone)
Don’t need no one, we’re always strong, We’ll walk alone (We’ll walk alone)
I was born alone, I’ll die alone, I walk alone
I walk alone
We walk alone

Background
After the much predicted success of her first single Walk Alone, Pixie's back with an all new track that is sure to get the internet buzzing again over her. Pixie's instant success also helped her in getting signed with the Teen Titans very own label, Titanic Records where she was the first act signed. Hovering on a #1 hit single, it was time for her to show her longevity with a new single that was released in Finland on December 6th and has already been received with warm ears. The new single Bold is a very strong sounding with a catchy chorus and almost haunting lyrics. Pixie took to her Twitter account to share some of the lyrics from the song as well as teasing that this would be an amazing new treat for her fairies. This is the second single to be released from her upcoming album in 2013, Imagine. When she talked with Yahoo! online, Pixie said that her album would be very much diverse and filled with some unpredictable songs much like the Finnish singer's personality.

This time she took to a very familiar name in the music industry today, Sunny Monroe, who has written hits for the likes of Isabel, Jennifer Armstrong, and more. After seeing the commercial success of the single in her home country of Finland, Pixie decided to release the song a week earlier in the U.S. and not leaving her fans "in desire of another tune" from the singer. So far the song has been hit by critics in majority of positive reviews, with the occasional bad review thrown in there. However, this didn't hurt Pixie at all as it has already soared to #1 on the charts in Finland. The big question now is will it do the same in the United States or was Pixie just a one hit wonder?

Song Description
"Bold" is an uptempo power pop, dance pop, and electropop song with influences of dance music incorporated throughout the song. The song begins with electronic arrangements that evolve into a pop rock sound. The song is everything that Pixie is about as an artist and as a person, describing some traumatic events with the lyrics and yet inviting the listener on a journey that is known as Pixie's imagination. She sings with a very energetic and vengeful voice that sounds much different than the innocent and sexy sound from her last single. She shows off her dark and creative side by painting a picture of a murder, one that is yet to be determined if it's even true or not, but you can't help but to wander if any of these events really did take place. It opens with Pixie singing the lines, "Blood on shoes, now I’m running away from the red and blue/I can’t stop, now I’ve finally got you to be where you belong" all the meanwhile the infectious beat is booming behind her vocals.

The song talks about the feeling of guilty a person has after they have done a dirty deed. Pixie goes on to sing about her feeling bold in the sense that she feels like she can get away with her crime and is somewhat intoxicated while performing the crime. Even though the verses sound wordy, she manages to sing and pull them together with the chorus in which she sings the hook, "Feel like being bold" The bridge is one of the highlights of the song where Pixie gives her all in what seems like an ongoing description of her during the song in which she ultimately decides to make a run for it and she feels like she has done the right thing. "Bold" gives us that rebellious side of Pixie that she has yet to show. Not only can she be a cute and innocent looking woman but now she sounds as if she is not the lady to mess with. Even though the message of the song is almost sinister, Pixie still remains true to her cuteness with the adding of the almost taunting sounds of her chants, "Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na" The single is set to be released on December 10th, 2012 in the U.S. and December 13th Worldwide.

Pixie's Comments
Quote:
"Bold is one of my favorite songs I've ever written. It's really in your face and fun, lots of play on words. I wrote this a while back but I didn't finish it until about a month ago. I wanted something different from my last single, as it was all about being yourself and being free. This single is more about murder and essentially getting away with it (Giggles). I like to think of it as a revenge song but in good taste you know? A lot of people have a feeling in them about someone who they want to kill, no lie. I know I've wanted to chop a few heads off myself. It's a story about someone realizing they can do better and be much higher if they got rid of the dead weight that was hurting them and then going on with your life with no regrets. I'm Bonnie and my teddy bear is Clyde so we ran away together to get away from the evil. It's all about rebellion and I'm all for not being the typical standard to people. I will tell you right now so there's no controversy; this song is dedicated to my last label because I love you that much.

The single cover is supposed to be as amazingly creepy as it looks. You've got this cute little girl who has obviously some evil in her. That's me in this song. You wouldn't expect it, you wouldn't expect her to do something as vicious as murder but people surprise you ever day. I loved this cover and I knew I had to use it for this song. It exceeds all expectations of what I had for the single cover."

[Lyrics]

[Verse 1]
Blood on shoes, now I’m running away from the red and blue
I can’t stop, now I’ve finally got you to be where you belong
I’m on fire, I’m on fire, tried to blow me away
Not tonight, not tonight because you gotta pay
I won’t quit, never sit, when the going gets tough
All alone, on my own because nobody’s home

[Chorus]
My bottle’s almost empty; you think you’ve found some luck
But I won’t give up easy (Feel like being bold)
You think you’ve left me feeling, like I don’t care at all
The curtains start to fall (Not doing what I’m told)
Thought I’d figured it out but now I don’t know
But now I don’t know, But now I don’t know
My bottle’s almost empty, think I need a refill
But I won’t give up easy (Feel like being bold)

[Verse 2]
Blood stained eyes, filled with tears that wonder what wasn’t right
Dropped my hand, made the final decision to leave you for dead
Picked the lock, I can’t stop, Till you throw away the key
Kiss my lips, take a sip, I won’t remember at all
I won’t quit, never sit, when the going gets tough
All alone, on my own because nobody’s home

[Chorus]
My bottle’s almost empty; you think you’ve found some luck
But I won’t give up easy (Feel like being bold)
You think you’ve left me feeling, like I don’t care at all
The curtains start to fall (Not doing what I’m told)
Thought I’d figured it out but now I don’t know
But now I don’t know, But now I don’t know
My bottle’s almost empty, think I need a refill
But I won’t give up easy (Feel like being bold)

Na na na na - da da da da
Na na na na - da da da da
(Feel like being bold)
Na na na na - da da da da
Na na na na - da da da da
(Feel like being bold)

[Bridge]
I feel sick, not legit
Can’t believe what I did
I won’t fear, nothing’s here
It’s time I better leave
You won’t know, saved my soul
Know that I better run
Never done, it was fun
Time to head for the sun

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
(Feel like being bold)
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
(Feel like being bold)

Released: November 5th, 2013
Format: Digital Download,
Recorded: 2013 in Los Angeles, California
Genre: Pop/Folk
Length: 4:33
Label: Titanic Records
Writer(s): Pixie Love. Sunny Monroe
Producer(s): Steven Lillywhite, Pixie Love

Song Background + Description
The next track on Imagine, “Dirty Ribbons” is the next taster of this already diverse record. It is a 4:33 slice of pop/folk music that grooves. Sitting somewhere between the pleasant, classic pop of Fleetwood Mac and the interesting layers that follow, this pop music makes expert use of keys that dip into water and whiz through space in a fuzzed-out and flashing back-drop that accentuates Love's amazing and versatile voice.
Her vocals sit somewhere between the sweet, Emma Louise’s; the soaring chime of an angel; and a wistful woman. There is perhaps a hidden message in the song or it may be as plain as day through the lyrics. The chimes of the piano chords in the background, provided by Pixie, start the song off with her charismatic vocals shining throughout the record. The tone of the song is light and airy with such a range of emotions being felt. 'We've got heart,/sometimes it overshadows/Our handicaps we think are big' In this line, Pixie speaks on her family during their time in Helsinki. She has often expressed in other songs and interviews the family lived in almost complete poverty which made their self-esteem go down but she sings about them having a lot of heart that is overshadowed due to the 'handicap' of being poor. All the time, Pixie's voice is soft and spreading her beautiful harmonies with the assistance of background singers.

The beautiful melodic sound carries into the chorus where Pixie's voice almost doubles now with her voice being split making for a nice harmonic sound. The chorus is simple yet catchy in only a way that Pixie can make it. The lyrics, 'Beneath my feet the ground's too cold
My clothes are old, secret judgement/All I had was enough to those who knew the road/Gave it my last shot'
suggest that Pixie was afraid of being judge for not having money, saying all she had was enough to take care of the ones who were poor just like her, around her.

"This song was a portrayal of how I saw things when I was younger. We were poor but we tried to make the best out of the situation. The whole 'two dirty ribbons' it represents a time when we had show and tell in class and I remember thinking that I was embarrassed because I had nothing to really show except for these two, old, dirty ribbons that my grandmother had given to me as a birthday gift. I was ashamed because they weren't brand new but now looking back, I know that they held more power and more value than what the other kids brought because it was a gift and it meant something. Those two ribbons turned out to really make me realize what you could do in a seemingly horrible situation, and how you can change it. It sounds simple because it's supposed to be. It's not some complex idea, it's simply stating that sometimes the greatest thing of value you have doesn't have to be the nicest."

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
We've got heart, sometimes it overshadows
Our handicaps we think are big
Back to start, we're pushed until we reach
Our limits, but we never quit
We gro-o-o-ow

[Chorus]
Beneath my feet the ground's too cold
My clothes are old, secret judgement
All I had was enough to those who knew the road
Gave it my last shot
We were sent but I'm content, with life (Ahh-h ah)
And all I had in class to give were
Two dirty ribbons

[Verse 2]
A shot in the dark
You never know just who you'll hit
It opens your mind, to realize you aren't so big
anymore

[Chorus]
Beneath my feet the ground's too cold
My clothes are old, secret judgement
All I had was enough to those who knew the road
Gave it my last shot
We were sent but I'm content, with life (Ahh-h ah)
And all I had in class to give were
Two dirty ribbons

[Bridge]
Tie your hair up my love
We're waiting, waiting
Don't be ashamed of the unknown
Waiting, waiting
We've got heart
(Ahh-h ah)
Ah, Ah
Ahh-h ah

[Chorus]
Beneath my feet the ground's too cold
My clothes are old, secret judgement
All I had was enough to those who knew the road
Gave it my last shot
We were sent but I'm content, with life (Ahh-h ah)
And all I had in class to give were
Two dirty ribbons

Beneath my feet the ground's too cold
My clothes are old, secret judgement
All I had was enough to those who knew the road
Gave it my last shot
We were sent but I'm content, with life (Ahh-h ah)
And all I had in class to give were

Background
Keeping the relatively same tone with the next track on the album, 'Amethyst Rhapsody', Pixie introduces a very rare instrument to be heard in mainstream music, the Pedal Steel Guitar. It's this instrument that really separates the track from anyone elses. Combining this with a simple drum beat, Pixie's angelic vocals are heard over the track as she brings it in with a set of 'Oooh, Ooh, ooh's'. Her voice comes in, her Finnish accent appearing more clearly this time. Her voice is medium tempoed, not too high or low. This really shows off her natural ability to sing rather than having to go into higher notes and risking the misses that could occur. The lyrics suggest that she is showing her friend a happy ending as she has never seen one before. In the background, the background vocals of rising 'Ahh's' are heard as Pixie continues to be the main focus. The beat begins to amplify as she goes into the pre-chorus from the second verse where she talks of attempting to save the other person as she fears their time is running out, 'Now I worry you are fading/My heart is heavy with you lately/And I pray that I can save us/So we can shine'. In comes a mixture of the pedal steel guitar and an electric one, giving it a little rougher edge than before with the mini instrumental in between verses. Her angelic voice continues to ring throughout the record as she jumps back in again. This time Pixie sings with a fighting spirit in her, almost as if to convince herself that all hope is not lost. You can hear the passion start to take control of her voice as she belts out the lyrics. She gives a sort of sarcastic answer to the other person, saying how, 'I’ll remember your tragic story/But you won’t be no Marilyn Monroe/The rope is quickly receding/So we can shine'. She uses the reference of Marilyn Monroe as a way of saying that the other person won't be as celebrated as she was if they disappear, but Pixie will always remember. The song then quickly becomes a building ground for Pixie to express her anguish of her friend while delivering some very beautiful and powerful vocalizations towards the end.

"Amethyst Rhapsody is, again, a very simple song. I'm really a firm believer that great songs can be made regardless of the immense production put into it but I do love to make a show as well. I wrote this for a friend who was going through some terrible times and we were all just convinced that it was over for them, in terms of living and all of that. It's basically an outcry to save them. I wanted so desperately to make the pain go away for them and I'm just telling them that, at that point in my life, I may not have been fond of a happy ending but I would show them one if they just hung on. I was thinking of everything that could go wrong. That's essentially what you do when you're worried, think negatively but then try to shed light on the positive. I also told them that they wouldn't be glorified as some of the top people were and still are like Marilyn Monroe, they would just be another person lost to the world. It seems harsh but it helped and it was true. A rhapsody is A work of epic poetry, or part of one, that is suitable for recitation at one time. It was definitely suitable at the time and there were a lot of drinking demons that needed to be warded off which is what the Amethyst crystal is known for back in the old times, to prevent one from getting drunk. I just thought it was a clever little tribute to my friend."

Lyrics

Oooh, Ooh, ooh
Oooh, Ooh, ooh
Oooh, Ooh, ooh
Oooh, Ooh, ooh

[Verse 1]
Well I heard you loved to hear of happy endings (Oooh, Ooh, ooh)
I never knew what one was made of but I had to see (Oooh, Ooh, ooh)
Now I know that drives you crazy
And I know you’re out of your mind
But I’m saving one for you
So we can shine

Oooh, Ooh, ooh
Oooh, Ooh, ooh
Oooh, Ooh, ooh
Oooh, Ooh, ooh

[Verse 2]
I’d search the highest mountains for you to turn out clean (Oooh, Ooh, ooh)
There ain’t a thing that I wouldn’t do like you’ve said to me (Oooh, Ooh, ooh)
Now I worry you are fading
My heart is heavy with you lately
And I pray that I can save us
So we can shine

The trouble is my mind is racing
With every bad thought I know
I can hear all the success stories
Or I can watch you fall below
I’ll remember your tragic story
But you won’t be no Marilyn Monroe
The rope is quickly receding
So we can shine

Oooh, Ooh, ooh
Oooh, Ooh, ooh
Oooh, Ooh, ooh
Oooh, Ooh, ooh
Oooh, Ooh, ooh

I can paint the smile on my face
But the story remains the same
Sometimes I pity all the suffering
When they’re caught in such an evil game
I’ll remember your tragic story
But you won’t be no Marilyn Monroe
The rope is quickly receding
So we can shine

Yeah so we can shine (Oooh, Ooh, ooh)
Ooh, Ooh, we’re gonna shine (Oooh, Ooh, ooh)
It’s time to shine (Oooh, Ooh, ooh)
I’m gonna shine (Oooh, Ooh, ooh)
We are gonna shine

Song Background + Description

The next track on Imagine is 'Catch Me If You Can', one of the most emotional and yet soothing songs on the album. It is a pulsating, subtler track that employs a blipping electronic beat instead of the hard rock listeners are used to from the genre. Pixie called upon Steven Lillywhite and Kate Arkhusrt, again, in order to create the prolific sound that would turn into the anthem for overcoming obstacles. Pixie's raw vocals are flooding with high emotions as she belts out lyrics filled with desires to set out on her own course and to be individualistic. The track starts off with the blipping synths to introduce the song in, followed by some more synths and then we get introduced to the drums. The beat alone plays for a few seconds, as we get to enjoy the multiple instrumentation such as the piano which has quickly become a favorite for the Finnish singer.

Soon, her vocals are heard, low and soft but with a hint of sorrow in them. 'Give me truth, I'll run away and you/Feed me lies, I'm here to stay/I cannot breathe, suffocate tonight'. In these lyrics, she suggests that people are more willing to accept a lie rather than the truth which is causing her to suffocate from the confusion. In the next lines, 'I don't need much confidence/You supplied, my common sense/Parasitic intentions are shown', she goes on to say that the male was the one who gave her knowledge, which she compares to a parasitic relationship but she was okay with it at the time. As the song builds up for the first time, we can hear the violins and cellos being added in, giving a beautiful melody of music. Her vocals take a stronger turn when the chorus comes in. 'Don't know how much more I can take from you/I don't think you give much thought to what you do/I'm a flightless bird whose lost it's song/But I know that this ain't right'. These lyrics suggest that she's reaching her breaking point, not being able to go through the pain anymore. She also compares their relationship to a bird who can't sing even though it has a voice, signifying the potential to be vocal. She also points out she knows it's not right but has yet to change anything about the situation.

The next verse, Pixie remains in her soft tone, this time with a hint of gaining power in her voice as the mood shifts. She feels more confident, able to regain her empowerment. 'Nurture me, then let me grow/Step away, I've got petals to show/To another, a lover of me'. This suggests that Pixie gives credit to him for helping her become who she is, comparing herself to a flower that is blooming. She uses the petals as a way to show others just how much growth she has. The second part of the verse takes a different turn than the first. She combines with harmonies in the background from backup singers. 'A phoenix rises to take its flight/The glow released resembles the fight/I'm more than I could ever dream/The battle's now within me' is when Pixie finally realizes her full potential and that she doesn't need him in order to feel good about herself, comparing herself to a phoenix about to take flight and it's luminous glow. The drums kick back in with the rest of the instruments as she goes back into the chorus again. At the end, the piano keys strike a repetitive pattern while her voice repeats in a whisper accompanying the beat. As soon as the music stops, Pixie belts out, 'I'll be come invisible!', repeating 'invisible' with almost a raspiness in her voice and scream. Another singing of the chorus and then the bridge which is just a repetitive phrase of the title, 'Catch me, catch me if you can!' with the thunderous drums in the background, the beat sounding as if it were made for a triumphant victory in a movie. It builds on the tone of Pixie finally coming to terms that she isn't just anyone and that she's important, the song being mostly on self-esteem and battling depression. When the beat calms down again, her voice is heard in a whisper again, as if to calm down with the track from the high energy. The song then fades out, hearing an amp and then a microphone drop to the ground.

"I think there's a transitioning point in everyone's lives where you finally realize how important you are and how much you matter to yourself. I had been battling depression for a while and on top of that, I wasn't in a very nurturing relationship. This song is, in short, about coming to terms that you matter. It's important for everyone to know they matter. If you just say it to yourself. The whole theme is meant to be sort of an uprising which is why it sounds so victorious in the song. In the beginning it's a little slow and drowsy but towards the end it's like you've just won the battle and you're celebrating. I'm telling the doubters to catch me if they can and to try and bring me down again. This is one of my favorites on the album. I love them all but this one was really amazing to record and listen to. I hope my fairies can relate to this and receive the message as well."

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Give me truth, I'll run away and you
Feed me lies, I'm here to stay
I cannot breathe, suffocate tonight
I don't need much confidence
You supplied, my common sense
Parasitic intentions are shown

[Chorus]
Don't know how much more I can take from you
I don't think you give much thought to what you do
I'm a flightless bird whose lost it's song
But I know that this ain't right

[Verse 2]
Nurture me, then let me grow
Step away, I've got petals to show
To another, a lover of me

A phoenix rises to take its flight
The glow released resembles the fight
I'm more than I could ever dream
The battle's now within me

[Chorus]
Don't know how much more I can take from you
I don't think you give much thought to what you do
I'm a flightless bird whose lost it's song
But I know that this ain't right

I'm a flightless bird whose lost it's song
But I know that this ain't right
(I know that this ain't right)
(I know that this ain't right)
(I know that this ain't right)

I'm running
You'll never find me

I'll be come invisible!
Invisible!
Invisible!
Invisible!

[Chorus]
Don't know how much more I can take from you
I don't think you give much thought to what you do
I'm a flightless bird whose lost it's song
But I know that this ain't right

[Bridge]
Catch me, catch me if you can!
Catch me, catch me if you can!
Catch me, catch me if you can!
Catch me, catch me if you can!

I'm running away (x4)

OOC: Great job writing this so far. Love all the sound a likes, I can imagine how this album would sound in real life. My favorite so song so far is "Dirty Ribbons" and "Amethyst Rhapsody" I love the throwback feel that has mixed in with the modern pop ballad.

Pixie: Thank you Stephanie :)

Ooc: Thank you very much. I actually do this with all my rp albums, but I create a playlist and put the sound alikes in the order of the album and listen to it to see how it flows. :) So thank you again.

Released: November 5th, 2013
Format: Digital Download
Recorded: 2013 in Los Angeles, California
Genre: Electronic dance
Length: 3:08
Label: Titanic Records
Writer(s): Pixie Love
Producer(s): The Wildcats

Song Background + Description
The next three tracks coming up on the album are all dance related, shifting the mood from turbulent to energetic once again. The first track to expose this is 'Give', an electronic dance song filled with tons of synths and an fun beat that will definitely have you dancing in clubs or at home. To accompany the beat, Pixie fills it with fun and sexy lyrics over a high-energy, glitchy electro beat which are referencing sex and the moment of climax.

The song immediately starts right away with the rising of the beat, Pixie's vocals coming in strongly. The echoing effect takes place as her voice is booming and the beat continues to build as she sings of foreplay. 'Take me down without a cause/Push all my buttons/Make/reality from my thoughts/Don't stay so hidden'. The glitchy beat starts to kick in, getting louder and louder as she continues her way through the first verse, right into the pre-chorus. The hand clapping in the background follows soon as she belts out, 'And if it's time for me to feel/Let me know now, final countdown/I know my love will leave you thrilled/Let me know now, final countdown'. In this moment, the beat takes a shift as Pixie repeats the hook to the song, 'I've got so much to give' and then follows up after it with 'You will receive me,' which is obviously in reference to sex. After that, she repeats the 'I've got so much to give' and then switches it up by saying, 'Forever teasing'. While the beat continues to build up, she repeats over and over, 'I've got so much to give' and then it breaks down into a dance instrumental with the electronic synths being dodgy and infectious. It's another simple song that is fun to listen to and sexy to sing along. The lyrics are very sexual but not in a blunt way, more of a fun and catchy way.

"I love this song, it is so much fun to listen to. Basically, it's one of those songs about sex but it doesn't directly say it because you know, then how could people listen to it? I think it's much better when you're a little discreet and teasing what the song is about. I wanted it to have this crazy beat to it that kind of reminds you of sex, it can be wild and fun and then at certain parts, it can slow down and feel sensual."

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Take me down without a cause
Push all my buttons
Make reality from my thoughts
Don't stay so hidden
No ru-u-ules
Set yourself free, be who you wanna be, be, be
No ru-u-ules
Let yourself go, your body is my overcoat, coat, coat

And if it's time for me to feel
Let me know now, final countdown
I know my love will leave you thrilled
Let me know now, final countdown

I've got so much to give
I've got so much to give
I've got so much to give
You will receive me
I've got so much to give
I've got so much to give
I've got so much to give
Forever teasing

I've got so much to give
I've got so much

[Verse 2]
I'm built to overflow
Serious condition
Don't take advantage, dear
I am the top position
No ru-u-ules
Set yourself free, be who you wanna be, be, be
No ru-u-ules
Let yourself go, your body is my overcoat, coat, coat

And if it's time for me to feel
Let me know now, final countdown
I know my love will leave you thrilled
Let me know now, final countdown

I've got so much to give
I've got so much to give
I've got so much to give
You will receive me
I've got so much to give
I've got so much to give
I've got so much to give
Forever teasing

I've got so much to give
I've got so much to give
I've got so much to give
I've got so much to give
I've got so much to give
I've got so much to give

Zac Hale: Whisper it, right, but I have heard there is a subtle message in this song that suggests Pickles has so much to give. You have to listen carefully...;) I'm only joking Pukkelpop, this song reminds me of high school. It has that real sort of Euro pop dance vibe that kids in my school loved when I was a senior. I like it, I always enjoyed that sort of epic backing music over your voice that you have in the chorus. Your voice is so unique as well. I love the energy in the track.

Zac: Missing you too, Pickles! It's been too long, and we need to hang soon. In action, huh? Are you promising a live performance? ;)
