TRACK 4 : YOUR QUEEN
Artist: Tisha Jackson Song: Your Queen Album: The Highway To Redemption Written by: Tisha Jackson Produced by: Tisha Jackson Genre: Rock Length:: 4:00 Recorded: January 2013 Background And Vocal Arrangements of ‘Your Queen’
‘Your Queen’ sees Jackson capturing an essence and genre of music we haven’t seen her capture yet, which is Rock. ‘Your Queen’ is a mid-tempo Rock song. Your Queen is about a man’s love for a woman and a woman’s love for a man. It’s true meaning is that every woman is a Queen, and every man should treat their woman as a Queen. However, every woman should treat her man as a king as well. It’s about the sacrifices of love. Your Queen focuses on the “good times” couples share. The beat is a very uplifting one. Filled with the bass of the guitar, drums, and horns boasting all at the same time.
The song begins with the guitar and drums throbbing very slowly and melodically. Jackson begins to sing, singing with her lower-register. Jackson leaves her signature raspy tone, however delivering the song more raspier and grittier than ever before. The drums and guitar pick up the pace as Jackson continues with the first verse. Her voice is now boasting powerfully. The drums and guitars bass line are now as heavy as Jackson vocals, providing a powerful rough sound. Jackson delivers confidently as she makes it seem as if she is a Rock & Roll singer.
She lowers her vocals entering the chorus as the bass line of guitars and drums pick up. Her voice then becomes very powerful along with the strumming of guitars and bass of drums. Horns are then incorporated into the beat. Jackson vocals are now raspier than ever. The beat continues its pace, as she enters the second chorus. She then beings with the chorus again as her vocals remain intact, powerful, and raspy. She then begins to melodically adlib.
The bridge of the song pick up very fast. The beat simmers a bit as Jackson voice grows increasingly raspier and stronger. The beat picks up and a loud over roar of trumpets begins to play. The trumpets bring a soothing feel to the rhythmic beat. The drums and guitar continue to play along with the now powerful trumpets. Jackson vocals are now raspier and stronger as she delivers a very rough performance. She continues to adlib with her vocals as she closes out the song singing, “I feel like your Queen.”
Background of ‘Your Queen’ [How It Came About]
Your Queen was recorded in January of 2013 in New York City. Tisha knew she wanted a Pop/Rock record for the album and felt that ‘Your Queen’ would be perfect. Your Queen originally started out as a heavy rock ballad. But soon as the horns and trumpets were brought in, it gave the track a smoother, sleek sound. Your Queen focuses on the love between a man and a woman and their vow to treat each other as Queen and King. It’s a powerful song for powerful love.
Quote:“Your Queen I feel will be a favorite on the album. It is something I’ve never done. But singing rock brought out a lot of me. I personally feel my voice as being more powerful singing rock. I just wanted to do something for the strong couples who put in the time and work. I just wanted to let the ladies know that they should treat themselves as Queens and should be treated as one, as well as guys treating themselves as kings, without gaining a major ego, and being treated as kings. It’s a sweet song.”
sounds like:
[Verse 1]
When you smile, I feel like a little child I don’t care if the world ends, as long as I’ve got you and God on my side You’re like nourishment to me My body and soul are adorned Lord knows I couldn’t love you, if I had none for me I feel fearless and wild, I am living my dreams Love is the language you speak It makes me high and stimulates me They’ll try and break us down Baby, the key word is try But it never can affect you or me
[Chorus]
I feel like your Queen You and I against the world Shine brighter than any star Shine bright on my heart My king of hearts Our thrones are never separate or a part Tear us a part, No, Baby, I would rather be dead
[Verse 2]
Treat me like a Queen You know my worth I’m sweet on you I am digging on you Gasping for air, looking into your eyes Washed ashore, you take me away Wrapped in your arms, I feel invincible I’ll call anyone’s bluff
[Chorus]
I feel like your Queen You and I against the world Shine brighter than any star Shine bright on my heart My king of hearts Our thrones are never separate or a part Tear us a part, No, Baby, I would rather be dead
[Bridge]
When we leave each other There’s no man I want more I feel your breath on me I feel the caress of your hands move all on me I feel like a woman More and more each day
[Instrumental Interlude]
[Chorus]
I feel like your Queen You and I against the world Shine brighter than any star Shine bright on my heart My king of hearts Our thrones are never separate or a part Tear us a part, No, Baby, I would rather be dead
[Outro]
I feel like your Queen |
