"my current favourite song, i'm obsessed! get into it."
Released: 14/07/2013 Genre: Indie rock, post-punk revival Length: 4:03 Label: Wooderson Records (Independent Label) Writer: Ryan Williams, Dan Howser, Nick Cohen, Zach Marshall Producer: Mike Lennox, Ryan Williams 'Just Kids' sounds like an 80's song that's went through a time machine and had a modern day makeover. It's the third single from PURE and the band continue to show their versatility. From the dream-pop 'Love & Drugs', to the post-punk 'I Keep Dreaming' and along with new single 'Just Kids', this is sure to prove to be one of the biggest indie albums of the year. The song opens with a dancey drum beat, with an infectious bassline pumping behind it. The bass controls the song ahead of the quirky guitar. Ryan Williams promised that the song would make you dance and he didn't lie, it's a song crying out to be played live. Williams sings about a failing relationship which distance has caught the wind of. The song builds up through it's short verses into it's anthemic chorus 'She's just a girl, she's just a girl'. The song keeps it's funky sound the whole way through and I do not see how anyone could sit still during this performance. With a distinct British rock sound to them, it is no surprise the band find most of their popularity in the UK. And so starts, like every other night Somebody take her home, she’s had a little too much She doesn’t like being only nineteen years old Offer her a way out and it’s as good as sold There’s very rarely ever a happy ending It doesn’t help that her head keeps bendingShe’s just a girl, just a girl She’s in love, oh she’s in love Breaks down in tears, confronts all her fears He is leaving town, he is leaving her He’s falling out of love, oh he’s falling out of love Dries up all her tears, continues to offer an ear They’re just kids, they’re just kids Just kids, just kidsDials the number to his house Suitcase already packed, the hugs have already begun She can’t face him today, she’s sick of begging him to stay The night turns into a massive bender She’s hoping that finding someone to fuck will help mend her She doesn’t know, that he can’t stop thinking about her With every sip, she continues to see his face Willing to do anything to keep him in this placeShe’s just a girl, just a girl She’s in love, oh she’s in love Breaks down in tears, confronts all her fears He is leaving town, he is leaving her He’s falling out of love, oh he’s falling out of love Dries up all her tears, continues to offer an ear They’re just kids, they’re just kids Just kids, just kidsThey’re just kids, they’re just kids There’s nothing she can say that would make him stay He doesn’t want to do something, he’ll regret someday They’re just kids, oh they’re just kids They’re just kids, oh they’re just kids She’s just a girl, just a girl She’s in love, oh she’s in love Breaks down in tears, confronts all her fears He is leaving town, he is leaving her He’s falling out of love, oh he’s falling out of love Dries up all her tears, continues to offer an ear They’re just kids, they’re just kids Just kids, just kidsSounds like:
