Alec chuckles a little and gives a nod of thanks to being called smooth with his words. "What can I say? I'm an artist of prose," he says in the most pretentious way possible, chuckling at himself a bit more. "No, I'll definitely go to Jennifer and Scott's wedding. Totally. That sounds fun. Warning, though, I cry at weddings." He gives Honor a grin, as if to say 'I could be kidding or I could be serious, but I'm definitely serious, so please don't judge me,' and then shrugs. "Plus, what a better venue than a wedding to get to know my girlfriend's fourth best friend." He laughs a little and shrugs again. "Hey, whatever. I think Jayne will win you over, though. She's got some pretty interesting shit rumbling around in her brain." He smiles and then pushes his sunglasses up. If he were being honest with himself, Jayne was probably the only friend that Honor would like. Not that he especially cared. Honor didn't seem to care too much that Alec didn't get along well with most of her friends. The fact was that he wasn't sure how many of his friends would really like Honor. Some of them were worse than him when it came to off-handed judgments. "Seriously, though, I think you'll like Jayne."

Alec lets out a scoff. "Why is that so surprising? Going to your girlfriend's best friend's-" He uses air quotes around 'best friend' with a grin, "wedding is a totally normal boyfriend thing to do. Man, who have you been dating where that's surprising?" He laughs and shakes his head. "I think you are much more amazing than Jayne. Don't be grumpy. Jayne thinks boxed wine is good wine. This is why you are better." He winks and touches the top of Honor's nose in a teasing way. "It's not that I think they won't like you. It's just that I think you'll clash a bit with them. If you think my judgementalness - I don't think that's a word - is bad, then you won't know what to think with some of my friends. They make Capote look like a humble servant of The Lord." He smirks. His friends were dicks, but that's why he liked them. Because they were dicks who had earned the right to be dicks. "Don't be upset. I behave around your friends. I'm okay being around them. It's fine."

"Yeah, but I'm trying to be more normal. Plus, I like weddings." Alec pauses for a moment. "I like weddings when they're done well. That's what I meant. Because I've been to a lot of really awful weddings." He shivers, remembering all the 'theme weddings' that were so popular in the early 2000's. "Okay, but boxed wine isn't really wine. I don't even think it comes from grapes. It's artificial grape juice that they put alcohol in. That's all. And they don't... judge you without knowing you, persay. They're just really judgmental people. And I've said nothing but nice things about you." He lets out a small sigh. "We've had this conversation before, Honor. My friends just don't think the same way that we do. I told them that you're a model, and they assumed you were like Laetitia Casta, you know? And then I showed them that you were in Maxim..." He trails off and then shrugs. "It's just two different worlds. Don't take it personally. They certainly don't mean it personally. Judging people is just business to them." He sighs again and chuckles, shaking his head. "Come on, don't be mad at me for that. Most of your friends didn't understand the sarcastic remarks and tone I was taking. No harm, no foul."

"Yeah, it was really big a few years ago to make everything themed. Themed parties, themed weddings, themed meetings, themed funerals... It was fucking awful. Can you imagine trying to find something in your closet to fit that certain theme at least once a week? I bought pirate boots at one point. They're in the back of the closet. I try not to look at them, or think about the amount of money I spent." Alec shudders a little and closes his eyes. "See, now you're judging my friends without knowing them first. You don't know if they don't like you or not. All I said was that they're judgmental people. You don't know. See, this is exactly why I didn't want to have this conversation. You're getting defensive and angry over things that don't even matter right now." He sighs and shakes his head. "I swear, you'll take any excuse to be disproportionately upset over something."

Alec sighs and gets up from the lawn chair, shaking his head. "Nothing is off-limits, Honor, you know that. I just thought we were having a good time together, and then somehow the conversation got twisted around into another discussion on how I'm a horrible boyfriend." He takes off his sunglasses and puts them back on the table between the two chairs. "Whatever. I've never made you answer for the things that your friends do, but for some reason, I've constantly been made to answer for my friends. I just don't get what you want anymore, Honor."

"Okay, right. You don't care about my friends. That's why we just had a conversation about how my friends have sticks up their asses, and that you're going to poison them for having opinions." Alec throws his hands up in the air in frustration, shaking his head. "Yeah, I know you don't care if I'm upset or not. That's basically been the theme of our entire relationship."

"We both know that if I had made that joke about your friends, you would be much more upset with me than I am with you, Honor," Alec says back, keeping his voice at a calm, steady tone, like always. He lets out a small, frustrated groan. "That's not what I meant, pet. I didn't mean just specifically you didn't care. It's a back-and-forth thing-- and you're walking away from me. Alright..." He follows Honor inside the house, looking towards the confused cat for a sad moment. "Sorry, Jynx. It looks like Honor is deciding to be a martyr for her cause today." He shakes his head.

For a quick moment, Alec thinks that Honor is being genuine in her apology, which makes the realization that she's being sarcastic that much more upsetting. "Do you think you're helping the situation, acting like that? Just tell me what you're hoping to accomplish. I honestly want to know. Because I don't want to fight with you - I would like for us to resolve this issue - but I'm having a hard time finding a reason to even try with you behaving like this."

"I--" Alec starts, listening to Honor rant before watching her head up the stairs. He looks at Jynx for a moment, and then back up at Honor as she heads up the stairs. "I... okay. Whatever." He walks away from the stairs and back into the kitchen to feed Jynx. "At least I'll always have you on my side temporarily..." he says, petting the cat who ignores him.

Alec waits for Honor to come back downstairs for a few minutes, but after realizing that she was probably going to sit upstairs and pout for a little bit, he decides to go into the living room and watch something. More specifically Prince of Tides. It wasn't his favorite Barbra movie, but it was up there. Plus, he wasn't in the mood for one of her fantastic musical comedies.
