'Spotlight is the debut album by American singer-songwriter Amy-Jayne, the album was primarily written by Amy-Jayne herself with collaborators on the album incorporating there own lyrics into the songs of which they featured, in total there a three collaborations on the album one with Coke of the duo Rym & Coke, one with Amy-Jayne's good friend Parish and another which is actually a song Amy-Jayne features on rather than is the lead artists and that is a song with miSTER_b, the album was produced by Amy-Jayne's boyfriend Will.Rocca and Parish, Will also helped Amy-Jayne write some of the songs on her album.

the album has five main genres which are R&B, Hip Hop, Cunk&B, Alternative R&B and Hardcore Rap, the reason these are incorporated into the album is because Amy-Jayne wanted to go into a new direction with her music, she ultimately wanted a more urban sound to her music rather than having her previous pop and dance sound, the album explores different themes throughout the album, which range from love to heartbreak to songs about arriving on the music scene and not being taking lightly.

the album was written over the course of 2 years, when Amy-Jayne began writing the album back in early 2011 she was writing them primarily as pop and dance songs but she has since changed some of the lyrics to match a more urban sound, the album first began getting recorded in early 2013 with the album eventually being recorded in various different locations, which include Paris, England, Peru and America just to name a few, the album was completed by the end of September but was held back but Amy-Jayne's record label Titanic Records due to them having minor financial difficulties, the album has now be slated for a December 2013 release.

four singles have been lifted from the album so far, the first being My Time which is a cover of a Jade Ewen song, however the album version is a newly recorded version with a more R&B vibe rather than the original release, the second single lifted from the album was Loopholes which features Coke from the duo Rum & Coke, the third song released from the album was Set Me Free which to date is Amy-Jayne's best single by becoming her first top 20 peaking at 18 on the digital charts and 14 on the airplay chart, the forth song taken from the album is Amy-Jayne's latest single What's On Your Mind which features rapper and Amy-Jayne's good friend Parish, another single is expected to be released just after the album is released.

Amy's Comments
this album truly resembles me as the artist that I want to be, in the beginning I always thought pop or dance was the way to go which was also the way my record label also wanted me to go but, after a while I felt that that kinda music was not for me and that urban music was more my thing, so I changed the whole of my album to cater to this and I now feel comfortable bringing this album to my fans if I had released the album in it's original form I would of not been satisfied that I was showing me as a true artists.

What's On Your Mind is the second track on the album, and spreads to a new theme of heartbreak with the opening track being about love, What's On Your Mind is the newest single to be released from the album.

'What's On Your Mind' is the fifth single by American singer-songwriter Amy-Jayne, it is the fourth single to be taken from her debut album 'Spotlight' which is due out in April of next year, this single also marks the second time in each Amy-Jayne has collaborated with Parish on a single, the first be 'Dance Through The Night' which was released in May of this year, it also marks the second time Parish has produced one of Amy-Jayne's song the first being there first collaboration, the song was written by Amy and Parish and the song is set to rival fellow R&B singers.

the song has two main genres R&B and Hip Hop, the R&B comes into the song because the song has a very urban beat to it and Amy's vocals also contribute to the R&B sound, as for the Hip Hop sound it is mainly due to Parish's rapping that has led the song to have a Hip Hop vibe but also the beat again also makes the song have the vibe.

the song starts with Amy-Jayne's voice being tuned to be robotic as she sings the beginning of the song, her voice then returns to normal as she begins to sing the first verse in a urban yet mellow sounding way, her voice then once again turns robotic as the bridge is then sung again for she then once again sings the chorus normally, she then begins to sing the second verse this time with a more aggressive and angry tone to her voice, the bridge is then once again sung robtic before Parish begins to rap his long verse with an aggressive and rough sound, Amy then has a little almost rap like section before singing the chorus one last time before the bridge plays the song out to its finish.

the music for the song has a tribal theme running through out it, the video will show Amy in a big chair surrounded by male dancers in tribal costumes, the video also has a section were Amy will sing and dance with these male dancers who are pretending to play the timbre drum, which is an African drum to keep with the tribal theme Amy is also seen in the music video wearing a lot of fur at one point but also is seen not wearing an hardly anything at all, so it is a music to keep girls watching with the sexy muscular male dancers and the boys smiling with Amy wearing next to nothing, the question of whether or not Parish will be in the video has not yet been confirmed but if he does im sure he will have some sort of tribal outfit on, the premiere date for the video is not certain yet so keep your eyes peeled for it.

Usted Me Libre is the eighth track on the album and is the Spanish version of Set me Free which was lifted as the third single off the album also sets the sound for the rest of the album, the song was also the first single to crack the top 20

The song starts with a small quiet beat before Amy begins to sing the first verse, she then speaks a verse. The beat for the song was kept simple and is relatively the same throughout the whole song, this song shows off Amy's incredible vocal range with many parts of the song being sung in higher octaves. there is also a section towards the end of the song were Amy raps somthing Amy has never tried or showcased before, she then sings the last bridge of the song before the beat plays out before the song ends.

When asked about why she wrote the song Amy stated that she wrote it to show how much she not only loves Will, but how he has changed her life for the better. The song means a lot to Amy because before Will came into her life, she was in a fairly dark place and she feels that Will has set her free. Amy decided to release this as her comeback single, because it shows the new and improved Amy, she also wants to try and bring competition to the likes of new rising star Barbarian and Aubrey.

Amy had stated that the music video for the song is going to be simple, it will be her standing in front of a white background with her outfits alternatively changing while she sings and dances, she stated that the music was to be simple because it was to show the new her and also that her label Titanic Records wanted to keep it simple. The video is set for release a week after the single is released.
