In a word... No. Its not that same but then again how could it be? Hearing that he had died is still the worst musical tragedy that i have lived through.... as far as i am concerned. I mean Two whole weeks before people even notice that you've not been around... its appaling...

Also Man in the box is my Funeral song..
I hate it when people see me at the supermarket and they are like:
Hey, what are you doing here?
and im just like:
Oh you know, hunting elephants

I love Alice In Chains but here's the problem with the new material. The singer doesn't sound like Layne Staley. He doesn't sound like a deeply pained individual. And that means that the new songs don't have the same degree of power that Dirt or Rotten Apple or Man In The Box has. Which means the new songs connect with me significantly less.

I agree, the old songs were written my a manic depressive junkie with such a heroin problem that the last time his band mates saw him he was turning green. This new guy isn't and can't sound like it, this is like Journey without Steve Perry, Layne was THE BAND.

Too much leather chair is unsightly and greatly increases your risk of leather-smell.

Wow. They really miss the fucking point, don't they?

I hate deathcore so much, never mind the bands throwing in poorly done covers of frankly untouchable classics, though at least they've avoided the piggy squeal vocals.

Like I said already, a huge part of AIC is the vocals, the raw emotion, the pain in Layne's voice. And well, death metal vocals do not convey emotion at all well. And the music just makes me angry really.

I didnt even bothered to hear it, there is certain bands (Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, AIC) that you just can't cover. Opeth's cover of Would? also sucked, it was too plain. Every man that tries to sing Would will fail.

What do you mean you can't cover Bob Dylan? 90% of all recorded music is written by Bob Dylan, and the other 10% is split 50/50 between Burt Bachirach and Tom Waits.

I've just listened to Opeth's version and I thought there was nothing wrong with it.
