The track serves as the lead single to her upcoming sophomore album, "Human Nature" which is set to be released in January 2014. The single marks Ugenia's first release in over two years and sees her leaving behind the Europop sound she explored on her debut album, 'Like A Circus' (2010). "Forever Young" was recorded in early 2012 with production coming from Deneil Khan who is known for his laid-back, minimalist yet catchy beats while the lyrics to the song were penned by Ugenia herself. Unlike the straight-up pop records she released back in 2010 and early 2011, "Forever Young" is predominantly an R&B record infused with slight elements of pop and dance. The song is unashamedly a party anthem with rather straight to the point and even controversial lyrics. The whole concept of the song is celebrating youth and realising that life is short so you have to enjoy yourself while you can and make the most of the present. Some lines in the song are deemed as a bit too 'risque' for radio and have to be altered when played before 9pm in the UK. Hinting at smoking weed [the line; 'Keep on blazin'....'], using expletives such as 'fuck' and even the entire concept of heavily partying are all things that would not have been heard on any of Ugenia's previous releases and it's rather obvious that the single is aimed at a new audience. Ugenia Says..."It's great to be back and finally releasing brand new music! It was such a long time coming and I feel like it's taken forever and a day to get to this point in my career but I'm here now and ready to go. The whole process for this album, the one now known as 'Human Nature' only started at the beginning of this year and I couldn't be happier with the final project. I've been away since 2011 and I've been working on music since then and I even had an album ready in mid-2012 but I scrapped it because I just wasn't feeling it anymore and if I wasn't happy with it then why would I even release it? I got married to my lovely Joey and gave birth to my adorable twins, Brandon and Vanessa, in early 2012 and people think that I was just focusing on being mum and wife but even throughout my pregnancy I was still writing and recording. People may think I've been hiding for like two and a half, almost three years I've actually been working my backside off!."
"The whole concept of 'Forever Young' came about after I scrapped the album I was working on in 2012. That entire record was produced by myself...it did not sound good. Plus I had no label and I was sort of lazy when it came to approaching people to help me out on the project. I lost a lot of confidence and thought that nobody would work with me because I'd been away for so long and I wasn't talk of the town. Basically, I gave myself a right good kick up the arse and just motivated myself. So, I went and reached out to lots of new producers and artists and if I didn't, I wouldn't have travelled around the world and made a record that I'm so proud of. I learned that life is short and I can't just sit around waiting for things to fall into my lap. If I want something, I have to go and get it and make the most of it. That's where the whole 'live for the moment' aspect of the song and the album comes from. It reflects a very 'act now, ask questions later' attitude that the whole record possesses. 'Forever Young' also pays homage to my teenage years when I went through a rebellious phase and just partied non-stop. I even went on to work in a club for two years before my music career kicked off. I feel like this song really sums up this whole record in one. It's fun, a little dark sounding, carefree and really gets the whole 'live while you're young' message across."Forever young, we only want to have fun
