Kidd's Quick Respond


Well word gets around quickly in the internet and when Kidd Amaze hear about the "Diss" that Matt Young, Owner of Permanent Reminder, talked about him in a rap it didn't take long for Kidd to give a response video on his flip recorder and had it set up on the tour bus. Remembering that this is the guy that ultimately affected his decision to come to the label it didn't look like he was mad at all but that is not to say that he didn't take offence to it saying "Really, people forget that I was a battle rapper. Granted I was young but damn nigga can't do positive shit. Like that is all niggas are good for just killing shit. Okay I'll bite." he later went to Twitter and said "...I have to respond now, #BackToKillinIt" we don't know what started this beef between Matt Young and Kidd Amaze but it already looks like 2014 is the year for battles and hip-hop couldn't be happier.

Kidd is sitting in the back of the tour bus with one of the guys holding the camera as they are on their way to another city. Everything is lay back with people looking at Kidd as he looks at the camera and starts freestyling.
"Hey is that one I want to make sure so we only have to do one take." Someone in the background asked if he wanted a beat to go to but he shook his head no and with his head down thinking before lifting his up to start rapping.

Kidd With Another Comeback
Looking at these two battle has really been something to see and I'm not the only one, millions on Twitter and Facebook are going bananas over the feud no one saw coming. Both parties have been silence for the most part outside of the video but people are asking not only how did this happen but more importantly who would win even non rappers are in the debate as Erich is pulling with Matt Young. As another video was release it didn't take long for Kidd to make a come back

Back and forth we go, and I got to say that this is exciting for hip-hop as this month as really been a waves of uncensored, rap.

His ex-wife died in 2008, and North Dakota native Joe Forde wasn’t anticipating the phone call when it came. Just hours after finishing the recording of his punk band’s demo, he was on the road to a local hospital.

“Car crash statistics were being thrown at me left and right, and how easy a surgery to help her recover would be. Only one doctor told me the truth straight-up, he told me that she might be in a coma for the rest of her life.” said Forde, in an interview with a punk rock blog months after the traffic accident that would claim his ex-wife, Janet Portnoy-Forde. The biggest question following the accident however, was how would a 24 year old punk guitarist, raise a child by himself?



It’s December 29th, 2013, and Joe Forde looks a lot different than the leather-jacket wearing, self proclaimed “anarchist” that he was in 2007. He’s let his beard grow, his wardrobe now consists of heavy-set clothing, and when engaging in conversation he wears a pair of prescription glasses.

The reason behind my visit to his home was the release of the independently released buzz-song, ‘2001’, which Forde released under the moniker: “Shangri-La Hentai”.

“I didn’t want my name to be out there at first. I used a code-name, and then a blog interviewed me after it got a small feature on a Canadian TV show, and now here we are.” Forde told me over a few meager cups of coffee.



After Janet’s death in 2008, Joe became the guardian of his then-3 year old daughter, Emma. Within the first week of raising her, Forde realized that his punk lifestyle would no longer benefit him, especially while he had to raise a child, so he decided to change his entire life around Emma.

Joe went off the grid, moving upstate and living with his siblings while he took the job that his father had while raising him, that of a Lumberjack.

“My dad said it was honest work, and it is. You don’t need a degree, you just need to have a hard work ethic, and once I had to finally own up to some of the stupid bullshit I’d done when I was younger, I got that work ethic.”

Forde worked as a Lumberjack for months, and months turned into years, 5 years specifically. Towards the beginning of January, at the behest of his co-workers, Joe began to play his guitar again, but this time acoustic ballads that his father taught him when he was younger.

“I hadn’t played some of these Beatles songs, and Neil Young songs since I was like 9 or 10 and my dad first gave me a guitar. Everyone got a real kick out of it.”

From there he began to play at local bars, and began to write his own songs which culminated in him recording with an old friend in Fargo. That recording was released to the world in July, and reached mainstream media towards the end of November.



It’s December 29th in the Forde household, and Emma, much taller than the baby picture that Forde shows me (and beginning to look a tad like her mother who holds her in the photo) comes in with a Kindle in-hand. Joe and his family pitched in to get it for her, and to sate her love of reading.

For the past few weeks, Joe has been driving back and forth between his home, work and Fargo, where he is recording two more songs to release a demo/EP in an attempt to get signed. If he does get signed, he hopes to move from North Dakota and focus on music full-time again.



Before I leave for the night, Emma asks Joe a question, looking up from her Kindle for the first time of the night: “How come Harry Potter gets such a hard time from everyone?” She asks. Joe grins, a grin similar to that of the photo from years past. He responds: “Because England sucks and Magic ain’t gonna change that.” They both laugh. I think I do too.

In November 25th 2013, a band that have been called one of the most important in the hardcore genre in the last 10 years (which they quickly dismiss as nonsense) by fans and artists alike returned completely out of the blue and we had the chance to give you the bands first interview since 2011, however we still couldn't get them to tell us what happened on that infamous night in Southampton in 2008! The answers to a lot of your questions lie below:

First of all, to three of you, welcome back! And to the two new guys, well, welcome! How does it feel to be reunited?

Jake: Thank you! It feels great, really, we've had this in the works for a few months now so to finally have it out in public feels absolutely fantastic! We're all really excited to start the new chapter of the band.

Chris: I think I speak for both James & I when I say that we're overwhelmed by how welcome we are as members of the band, because as most of you would have read, we've been with the band in some way, shape, or form for quite a while now, even though unfortunate circumstances have meant that we're now members, they've all made us feel welcome.

James: I must admit, I couldn't sleep for a few days before we broke the news that we were the new members just because of the potential reaction of fans, but like Chris said, we've been welcomed with open arms and it feels amazing!

We all know that you're back together, but something that's shocked is the name change, back to the original name of Smash Up! Is there any reason behind it?

Dan: Let's be honest, I don't think many people considered us as Chimera, we'll always be Smash Up! We just thought that the new era should start similar to our old one, we're back living in our hometown and under the original name ready to start a new journey.

You said that you're back living in your hometown of Cardiff, so where have you been previous to this?

Dan: Well after the last show in 2011 I first moved to London to start my solo project & began to self-produce my album, but some old friends from bands such as Fathom and Dead Roses got in touch with me and wanted some demos recorded, they put me in touch with a few bands which I continued to work with and I found myself as a producer six months later, so the solo project never really worked out!

Ollie: I went travelling, because I'll be honest, I found myself in a really low place for a long time after Luke passed away, I saw a bit of the world and as self-indulgent as it sounds, I think I really found myself again, I came back home and found myself working in the background of Broken Dolls Entertainment - the promoters of Aftermath Festival and all that, I got in touch with the guys [from the band] after I was settled.

You all seemed quite busy, so what was it that sparked the reunion?

Dan: It was actually after Ollie, as he just said, contacted us all, we met up a few times in different spots of the country, him and Jake came to visit me in the studio and after about an hour we were tracking guitars and couldn't stop talking about the idea.

Jake: I think it was sort of inevitable once the three of us were in the studio together! We felt the same vibes as we used to, however Ben wouldn't join us, he's happy working in LA as promoter, he's doing well for himself and he said he's happy, but as for the three of us, I think I can safely say the last time we were all truly happy was when we were in this band, and there was only one way to fix that.

James: And that's when they got in contact with me! As many of you know I went behind the kit for them to attempt to fill my good friends shoes, a task that is still daunting to this day! I was sceptical about the idea but after a few practices with Chris, we realised that this was working.

Was it hard to adapt without Luke being there? After all, he was one of the founding members of the band and was a very popular character in the music world?

Ollie: It was always going to be and to a certain extend still is, like I said it hit me really hard when he passed, not that it didn't to everybody but yes, I've come to accept it but the next challenge is life on the road.

Jake: I still expect to see him some days, it's been over two years but I guess the brain can do that to you, we're all settled but you have those moments where you sort of, forget he's gone, when someone dies at the age of 22 it just doesn't feel real.

James: Even though I'm sat where he should be it's still surreal for me because he was my friend for most of my life, I remember when he got his first drum kit and he instantly fell in love! I still miss him and as Ollie said, life on the road is going to be something difficult, I was his drum tech so spent as much time as most of the boys did with him!

You've confirmed that a new album will be released in 2014, is there any release date in the works or even a time frame?

Dan: Quite simply, no, we're taking our time with this one, even though it's coming together pretty quickly we're in no rush to release new material, the last thing we want to do is rush this album, so please be patient with us! We're not going to make you wait until 2015 or 2016 or whatever, but we are taking our time.

Ollie: We haven't even made a decision on the name yet!

As far as touring goes, is it the same situation?

Dan: Yes, but we're hoping to get on the road fairly soon after we get out of the studio, we've had some of the craziest, most mind-blowing and simply incredible experiences on tour, we hope to get back to that soon!

Speaking of crazy experiences, can you tell us what exactly happened on that night five years ago in Southampton?! You had one member arrested and one put in hospital which ended your UK tour pretty early, you've never told the story though!

Dan: (laughing) And we never intend to!

Jake: Like you said, it's been five years and I'm still not ready to tell that story! Maybe we'll let you know one day but I think we're still recovering from it slightly, all I can say is that not one of us touched a drop of alcohol on the following two tours after that!

I think that says it all! I'm not sure I need to ask anymore questions after that! Thank you very much for talking to us.

Interview with Edward Markus Alverara reveals the truth behind his firing from the Destroyers.

The Destroyers, a band barely known is now stuck in controversy after guitarist Edward Markus Alverara goes on air to bash their reasons for firing him. Alverara was only the guitarist for one week and recorded two songs with them before he was dropped.



Interviewer: First things first, how did they fire you?

Edward: Through a text. I was in my house at about 1 a.m. last night and I got a text saying "Joey's back we don't need you."

Interviewer: So, they didn't go face to face with you.

Edward: No, I even tried to call them and no answer.

Interviewer: Did you see any signs that you might be fired?

Edward: No, I was just fired. Joey failed to make the cut for Mudshovel and couldn't even record a solo album so he went crawling back to the Destroyers.

Interviewer: Did you get any other offers from other bands?

Edward: So far, no. I'm hoping to get off the ground with Alverara because my brother also wants to go his own way.

Interviewer: Why do you think the Destroyers haven't commented yet.

Edward: Because they can't think of an excuse to back it up. The only one that I figured wanted me to stay was Daniel Corbet. He is offering to be the drummer for Alverara.

Interviewer: So, Corbet has nothing to do with it.

Edward: I think it's all John and Enriko.

Interviewer: What do you think about Joey going back?

Edward: If it was me? I wouldn't take him. Kid moved to Colorado last week. You know what that means. That kid is messed up.

Interviewer: Ok, time for something unrelated. What do you think about the Matt vs. Kidd thing?

Edward: That still going on? I'm pulling for Matt, experience is the best teacher and that's one thing Kidd don't have.

Smash Up Announce UK Run
The band confirm first tour since their reformation will take place on home shores.

After their show set to take place February 1st at London Roundhouse sold out within 12 hours, Welsh rock outfit Smash Up have announced that they will embark on their first full tour since 2010 this March.
The 8-date tour will see the band tour for the first time without founding member & drummer Luke Jell who passed away in 2011 and without former guitarist Ben Upcott since he joined in 2007.

"We know that we're cutting it fine to announce it, but it didn't feel like the right time to announce it before Christmas with the news of us being back being as fresh as it was, we felt that the situation was announce it straight away or wait until 2014, which is what we did!" said the band.


Thumbs up! Guitarist Jake Symonds says goodbye a sold-out Aftermath Festival in the bands 2011 "finale"

It has been confirmed that Sinigaro, who will also share the stage with the band in their February comeback show are the first support act to be announced.

Destroyers Bite Back!

Edward Alverara's claims that the Destroyers fired him for a drug addict got around to John Alveraz, who later released this statement.

"Joey Alveraz has been tested negative for drugs BEFORE we let him back into the group. There are family in Colorado the Joey is close to and it is bias to believe that he moved there for the sake of drugs. In fact, we found and discarded multiple packets of weed and cocaine from Edward's room, which led to his initial firing. We would have been fine with keeping him and Joey if he was not on multiple drugs. We are a group of friends who did this for fun. We're not worried about getting big or getting rich. This was a publicity stunt by Edward to get popularity. The two songs we recorded with him will still be on the album and credited to the rightful members, including Edward. We did not want to completely ignore Edward as much as we wanted to give him time to cool down. We will not let him rejoin the band."

Edward Alverara is currently working with his brother Curtis to release an album. He hopes to form or join an official band by mid-2014.
