While I don't play to many video games, I LOOOVE me some Guitar Hero: Metallica on drums. |

Personally I dont like Empire: Total War...just didnt feel right. Not to mention that it taxed the living shit out of my computers ability I'll stick to Rome: Total War and mods such as Total Realism or Invasio Barbarorum |

xNightsidex wrote:tension101 wrote:While I don't play to many video games, I LOOOVE me some Guitar Hero: Metallica on drums. *Insert "play a real instrument instead" argument* I play bass, drums, and keyboard. I just play GH for fun, I'm not substituting it over a real drum kit. However, I do get annoyed when people would rather play GH over a real instrument, I'm with you on that, but what if you play real music, and wanna have some fun in between? That's the main reason I play the game, it's not like it's taken over my whole life, like some people I know. Speaking of a life consumer, I also do various random stints on World of Warcraft. |

Yeah, I heard they were pretty awesome but I never got to that part. THe game is sitting in its box waiting the day that I upgrade my machine...which is going to be a long way off :( |

Personally I dont like Empire: Total War...just didnt feel right. Not to mention that it taxed the living shit out of my computers ability I'll stick to Rome: Total War and mods such as Total Realism or Invasio Barbarorum Hahaha. I can't even play Rome anymore. Medieval Total War, the original, was the pinnacle of the Total War season, after that they really watered the campaign down and that fucked me off, because I really prefered doing stuff on the campaign map. And M:TW won't run in Vista/Windows 7 :( So yeah, the Total War series is just dead to me now. I own them all up to Medieval 2 but that game just disappointed so much. Yeah it looks prettier than MTW but it plays shitter. Stupid game. My strategy game series of choice is the Paradox Interactive games based on the Europa Universalis engine. Europa Universalis III, starting in 1399 and playing until 1810 or so, it's absolutely stunning. So addictive, much more complex (and thus satisfying) than any total war games, and as they are real-time grand strategy games you only deal with moving units into place, the battles are not fought by yourself. I absolutely love the series, highly recommend EU3 & it's two expansions to any real strategy game fan up for a challenge. xNightsidex wrote:tension101 wrote:While I don't play to many video games, I LOOOVE me some Guitar Hero: Metallica on drums. *Insert "play a real instrument instead" argument* That's a thoroughly stupid argument though. I mean they are nothing alike. Never actually played the GH or RB games myself, but hey, I know someone who plays guitar in a band and is addicted to them. So y'know, DO BOTH! Yeah it looks prettier than MTW but it plays shitter. Stupid game. Which is why I think the fan modifications are so essential... Yeah, M2TW really was average...cant beleive I played 600...yes, 600 turns with Scotland just so I could get to the stage where you could invade the Americas (definately not worth the wait). The original was just brilliant...the whole atmosphere of the campaign map was sensational. It had a real medieval feel to it. I loved how you could appoint family members as governors of provinces, master of horse, the commander in cheif, court chamberlain, patriach etc etc. M2 just had no soul. |

I'm not a big fan of overly strategic games, I prefer more hands on games.
I'm getting Fallout 3 soon though, which I'm veryy happy about :) Also, birthday's going to be expensive for my parents :P So many good games out, Batman, Fight Night, FIFA 10, Call of Juarez, Prototype, and then theres Forza 3, Splinter Cell Conviction, Assassins Creed 2. Oh dearrr. |

Fallout 3's pretty good, played it over at a buddy's a couple of months ago. Very different from the first two games, but good nonetheless.

Awesome ending too, plus good replay value - go once through being as good as possible and once through being evil as fuck... |

I can only assume by awesome ending you mean totally rubbish and underwhelming ending.
Especially if you have Fawkes with you at the end, it doesn't even make sense because an earlier story point was made of the fact he's immune to radiation, he could have gone in and saved the day and you wouldn't have to die or let the woman die. And to just fade to a narrated montage of stills saying "He/she was a good/evil man/woman, carrying out a virtuous quest/murderous rampage and ultimately sacrificed himself/herself/someone else to save the day/poison the water killing millions."

I don't tend to get too involved with games, so slight inaccuracies don't bother me at all. I enjoyed playing it, and the big machine was epic fun to walk underneath. |
