It was a long road to get to this album and yet it doesn’t choose a certain genre, despite it’s clear that all track flirts into the electronic scene, it looks like Magie was really in an identity crisis and it even clearer in this final two tracks. This one starts with some weird industrial distorted vocal effect which grows to a mid tempo drum and bass line beat which sets the compass of the track and also its tone. Magie has a clean and thin vocal, she sings loud, specially the chorus and the bridge of the track. About the chorus, is perceived that it has some changes compared to the original verses of the track, this change comes from Magie singing style and obviously some synth beats added to the main structure of the track. There are effects on Magie’s vocals, some distortions and synthesizers. Magie is grieving in this song, she is really sad but she’s determined to end once and for all what left her feeling this way, so if we understand that it’s a song that leads us to the end of this project, it might make sense to have this track here. She talks about looking away to another direction as a metaphor to not look back to the past which might be a love interest in this case. She also refers that there were strength wasted in this relationship, it’s very touching and sad. Production was responsible for Drake and ElectroLightz, writing belong to Magie and obviously Abie Lena, which explicity leaves her writing mark in this track. MAGIE COMMENTS Look away is one of those deep meaning songs you write, it was like a journey for me to write it, because I had to revive some memories and moments I wished I have forgotten long ago, so for me to listen to it and to sing it it’s a therapy. I like the weirdness of the sound, it’s dark and gloomy and perhaps it will lead people to their own dark moments, but in a good way, like understand that certain things were made to be survived. It is a mid another mid tempo track but different than other previous mid tempo ballads of the record, this one is by far the best of them. It has strings and piano till electronic beats come in over and turns it into a smash sad anthem. Magie’s vocals are crispy and strong (in the choruses of the song) she’s suffering throughout the track which eludes us that it was probably her most honest and rawest track so far. The synth beats are a tremendous shift in this track, accompanied by acoustic strings and piano, they form a nature classic structure of a ballad track ready to conquer a number one spot on the charts. However it does not summarizes the album’s direction as a titled track would serve to, it is quite a standalone track if it were not for its previous counterpart (look away). But the track is good, Lyrically it’s about grieving for a time that cannot cameback and even being creepy by analyzing that past time as a dead piece of someone’s life. Magie tell us that she fears people won’t remember her, and so she repeats the “remember me” phrase over and over, so her audience will remember to remember her. Well that sounds confusing. The choruses are good but the standing part of track are the verses, with spooky vocals and extremely painful lines, Magie does her best work by transmitting the desolation feelings she has within her heart by singing those lines. Again the whole album closes uncertain, it does not have a common feeling throught its songs, it started out with a direction that was not fulfilled on its end, but for a debut it serves well, at least Magie is ready to move on for her past (ElectroDeath) and we think that this last track might be about that. The most notable thing abour this last track is that it was written by Magie alone and produced her best friend Drake plus Will Rocca and by talking about that we realize that this is the best direction that two big producers can brought in a near future for any struggling artist or for a brave artist that is up to risk a new direction in their own music. MAGIE COMMENTS The feelings I get when I finished this project was that I had something to release after all that I’ve been through in my life. I know people will compare this project with previous material I did with my past band and they will find this project amateur, especially when you have an album like “The Sun Will Rise” in your curriculum. The funiest thing is that I’ll be always remembered as an ElectroDeath girl and that is a burden I’m gonna bear for the rest of my career. This song is about that, is about being remembered and I’m certain that after this project I’ll be able to at least devise people’s eyes to my past and hopefully make them see in me a new person, a new singer a new artist. Big thanks to Drake, for still being here when I was crazy enough to tell him that I wanted to re-start everything and we already had half of it done, thanks to Carlos White, David White and Michelle White for illuminating my creativity spirit when it was down, thanks to Lilly Stuart for being the best friend a girl can ask despite the business woman she became, she remains an angel in my life.
