Yet to gain any real sort of media interest, it’s potentially a risky move to release her debut single so soon, but it’s a move that has been back by her record label, with the musician reportedly eager to get into a recording studio as soon as possible after signing the recording contract, she was flown out to Las Vegas, Nevada where she recorded the song at ‘Half-Moon Studios’, a recording base owned by Amy Meyer, and the musician stayed at a hotel in the process. The track, which had already been written in the months prior, was recorded within four days from August 29. The final mix of the song was completed a couple of days later and preparation began on planning the release of the debut single, it was then sent to the label for approval and then subsequently sent to ‘Miami’ for final approval which was confirmed. The song begins with a piano introduction, it feels quite sombre at first but quickly builds to something a little more dramatic, the opening vocal from ‘Miami’ arrives at about twelve seconds into the song as she sets a marker for her own style of writing, showing a confidence and belief in herself as the first lyrics arrive, “I play the game my own way/I don’t do it like they taught me to/I be blazin’ my own trail/I ain’t been through half the sh*t you been through” and assertiveness comes across in her voice which could perhaps easily be interpreted as an arrogance, “Cos’ when it comes to me/I take care of myself” and then comes a bold statement, surprising perhaps considering it’s her debut, “Someday I’ma be runnin’ this town” she says, continuing to deliver her statements of intent all the while supported by a piano and now a guitar riff which can be heard in the faded background of the song. The backing music rises a little further and Miami’s vocals follow suit as the song hits it’s repetitive chorus, “Blazin’ my own trail, don’t give a f*ck what people say.” Again it shows a (some may say misguided) self-belief in her own ability, but this is coming from somebody that has worked almost constantly since the age of seventeen in order to fulfil her ambitions, it may have taken a while for a record deal to come and for her career to begin, but she’s shown already that she’s a strong minded person with self-belief and a vision for her own career, already stating her ambitions in her debut single. The song comes towards the end but hits the audience once more with that repetitive chorus and as the song ends, you already get that feeling that this could go either way, she could become one of those acts that are either loved or hated, guess you have to make your own minds up on that one though! LYRICS“I play the game my own way I don’t do it like they taught me to I be blazin’ my own trail I ain’t been through half the sh*t you been through Cos’ when it comes to me I take care of myself Someday I’ma be runnin’ this town Ain’t nobody gonna put me on the shelf Yeah, I be blazin’ my own trail I don’t listen to a word that the haters say I’ma make the most of this life Cos’ I play this game in my own way
I don’t feel bad for all that you’ve gone through Life is what you make of it, it’s up to you Yeah, hidin’ in the shadows ain’t gonna get you nowhere So when I’m at the top, will I see you there? Blazin’ my own trail, don’t give a f*ck what people say I be blazin’ my own trail, don’t give a f*ck what people say Blazin’ my own trail, don’t give a f*ck what people say I be blazin’ my own trail, don’t give a f*ck what people say Blazin’ my own trail, don’t give a f*ck what people say
I play the game my own way I don’t do it like they taught me to I be blazin’ my own trail I ain’t been through half the sh*t you been through

I play the game my own way I don’t do it like they taught me to I be blazin’ my own trail I ain’t been through half the sh*t you been through
Blazin’ my own trail, don’t give a f*ck what people say I be blazin’ my own trail, don’t give a f*ck what people say Blazin’ my own trail, don’t give a f*ck what people say I be blazin’ my own trail, don’t give a f*ck what people say Blazin’ my own trail, don’t give a f*ck what people say” |
