Single : Bless Me ft. Stephanie Fierce From Album : old mattresses Artist : ( Originally Stephanie Fierce ) Yasmine Release Date : October 2nd , 2013 Recorded : June 5th , 2013 – June 20th , 2013 Genre : Indie Rock , Indie Folk Label : N/A Written by : ( Hook by Stephanie Fierce ) Yasmine Kiambang Produced by : Stephanie Fierce Length : 4:17The original ' Bless Me ' was a single released by Stephanie Fierce on May 12th , 2013 . It obtained great success and received much praise from critics as once again Stephanie Fierce pulled out the Folk-Rock card on everybody and used it to slay all . For weeks following the release it topped many charts worldwide and when it didn't , kept the spot right under 1 all to itself . Now 4 months later , new Indie Folk/Rock/Pop artist , Yasmine , has taken all by surprise and released a remix to the controversial song as a single and has somehow found a way to pile on to the controversy the song created .
The topic seems like it should be the main thing Yasmine should be trying to avoid ever since everybody freaked out over the meaning behind the first half of the lyrics to ' Losing My Religion ' , which was supposed to be the single Yasmine released instead of this one . Even though at the end of the song everything calms down as she comes to her senses about ' giving it up ' to her lover because she felt insecure about him cheating on her , a lot of people in the Muslim community found it a little inappropriate . Can you imagine how they will feel about this one ?
The original song was written and composed by Stephanie Fierce . The song was about the lust and desire of a lonely woman and how a one night stand made her want to keep coming back for more . The lyrics were written artistically ( and controversially ) as the song started off to seem as if she was asking for forgiveness when pleading , " Bless me , bless me . " and then turned out to have a sexual play on the words . Yasmine's version of ' Bless Me ' flipped things around a little and made the meaning of the pun much deeper . This version almost has 2 meanings . At first it seems to be a song about a girl being addicted to a man she knows is no good for her and wants forgiveness and redemption but admits that it may not even work knowing how she's so hooked on him . But it's only when you really think about the lyrics and then think about the original ' Bless Me ' you begin to understand what exactly Yasmine means . The song's actual meaning ( in fewer words ) could be compared to that of Jazmine Sullivan's ' In Love With Another Man ' . In this song a girl is torn between 2 men , a guys who most likely treats her right and a guy who treats her wrong . Though the main detail about this is that she loves the good guy and lusts for the bad one and since right now she feels like she's at her lowest , she gives the good guy one more chance to ' bless her ' , saying things like , | I must think you're a fool | This crosses all of your rules | and | See if one try helps | Attempt to unblur these lines | and to top it all off , | And if I let him back in | You can shut me out | . She explains her situation with the bad guy with the lyrics , | Only took a dose ; a drop of poison | Then I ... craved for more | and even described herself as an addict by using the malay word for it , penagih . And she also lays out her situation with the good guy with , | On my knees again , crawling back from him | Just like they swore I would , just like you said I would | and | So though I'm here on all fours | I'll be at his door | . She refers to the good guy as you and the bad guy as him .
The composition of Yasmine's version doesn't change a bit from the original . The music of the song wasn't tampered with and Yasmine's heavenly , monotonic voice keeps the flow of the song . Yasmine sings these lyrics in that broken voice that seems captures everyone and it is perfect for the lyrics , letting them sink into the listeners mind as the music accompanies it . Stephanie features on the remix , singing the hook and even pops in at the end of the third verse . Though this may seem like an odd collaboration , containing an Indie artist and an R&B icon , the two's voices work together perfectly in the song . The moaning of Stephanie Fierce , the angelic voice of Yasmine and the twisted lyrics all playing along with the mix of instruments , consummate the remix , giving you trance like feel every time you listen to it .

As of right now it is unknown whether the song will be included on the album due to a recent change of track-list, but the song will be released as a "digital download only single" through Hot Eye Records and the support of CBS records on May 12th. The song was recorded and composed in March inside of Stephanie Fierce's tour bus trailer and mixed at a private owned studio. As of May 11th, the song is currently being used for television promo for the 10th season finale of CBS's hit drama NCIS that will air on May 14th. Part of the song's instrumental was used in the earlier promo's that began on May 1st without the title track or artist being unveiled. Fierce will be performing the song for the very first time on BCStyle Charity Fashion Show on May 11th. A music video has already been filmed and will be released in the coming days. Fierce discussed the song in her recent Rolling Stone interview: "I originally wrote the song around the time I released "Love is Lust" but never touched it until March of this year. As of right now, the song may or may not be included on the album, but I feel like the song is very special to me and should be somewhat commercial in my discography of singles, so I wanted to release it in sort of way at least." She added: "I think within the concept this song is a bit more interesting lyrically. Vocally with this song I was very influenced by Amy Lee from Evanescence. I will admit I'm not a huge fan of Evanescence's sound as whole, but I am a fan of their lyrics and Amy Lee's voice. As a woman I feel like she really has a distinctive sexy voice. She sounds almost like a saint but with edge and I wanted that in my voice for this song and I wanted to also represent that on this record because this particular song does not have a good meaning at all. It's very sexual and somewhat whorish, but it is something that does happen with many women. A one night stand is meant to be a one night stand, but sometimes we can't get caught up and feel trapped by wanting more. I think this point and time in my career, people should understand that everything I say or portray shouldn't always be taken literal, and that's why I"m not afraid to release the song. " This song has a very stripped and mellow sound, very much like "Dying in the Airwaves" and many other songs Fierce recorded for her "Free" album, which was released back in 2011. This one however has a little bit more edge in the lyrics and in the bridge. The song talks about the lust and desire of a lonely woman and how a one night stand made her want to keep coming back for more. She desribes herself as a rebel and makes it very clear that she isn't s saint and is willing to push boundaries within herself and her sins. The song is written in a religious fashion which may cause Blasphemy controversy. Fierce moaningly sings "Bless me, Bless me"; a sexual innuendo referring to the fact that her body is need of a "blessing". The song begins with a guitar riff, making two rounds before it dives in with it's opening verse. The song is then joined by what sounds like two smashing sticks and Fierce's soft and sultry vocals. As she sings "bless me" her voice turns more into a moan rather than a belt. When she sings 'I don't stand a chance in heaven', the song goes silent for few quick seconds, and is rapidly joined by a louder smashing claps that also make a few rounds. Growing more melodic as it's joined by more instrumentation, the song continues with it's instrumentation which is kept simple and progressive all throughout until the bridge hits. During the bridge, the song takes a more upbeat beat turn as she sings "keep the demons out" ect. During this section, the song's instrumentation grows even more intense as fierce's vocals become more sultry and evolve into a more moan-like sound as she echoes and repeats through the chorus-repeat. The song then grows more silent and less active until is rejoices to it's normal form and fades out with an emotionally driven sound. "Bless Me" Lyrics "Love drunk again, overdose accident no I'm not saint, no I'm not a saint I think I should be a little more embarrassed, in myself, in my sins Bless Me, Bless Me Oh oh, oh oh Bless Me Bless Me Oh oh, oh oh Cause I don't stand a chance in heaven even the devil don't recognize me anymore a desperate girl shouldn't be given another night but I thought you might Bless Me, Bless Me Oh oh, oh oh Bless Me Bless Me Oh oh, oh oh

The night is growing close my hands round' my throat I can't say a word, and I bet he knows and I'm hardly wake Since the night he left. His body always kept, Mine inside of it. keep the demons out, Give me mouth to mouth. I can't live without ya, Take me to your house.
