Track Eleven: False and Fibs Ft. Sammy GriffinReleased: June 13th, 2014Length: 4:18Genre: Folk, SoulFormat: Digital Download, CDLabel: Studio60 RecordsWriter(s): Hayden Merjos, Phil N.Producer(s): Hayden MerjosDescriptionThe eleventh track of the album, 'False and Fibs' sees it's final collaborative song on the album and second to last track. Turning the mood back to a slow and gentle one, the track is more stripped back with less of the dynamics used throughout the album. Instead, the track is simply acoustic with Hayden and Sammy Griffin's vocals. There is also piano introduced into the song but for the most part, it's the least produced track on the album. The indie folk/soul song talks about the dangers of being a dreamer today when the reality seems against it. The story talks of a girl who lives on the streets, hoping and wanting a better life. The track was highly praised by critics as one of the standouts due to it being a live song, with no editing whatsoever and played straight from the musicians onto he album. The bold move comes from Hayden wanting to preserve the mood which inspired the song. The melodic track switches from Hayden's to Sammy's point of view as they both observe the girl's life spiraling out of control. In the first verse, Hayden talks about the life she dreams of, wanting to have no regrets but people around her believe she'll never amount to more than she is now. In the chorus, Hayden and Sammy join together only furthering their point of the girl's imagination of one day achieving her dreams, taking whatever life throws at her in stride.
The second verse, Sammy's verse, talks of her doing dangerous things in order to feel alive in some way, and her not being ashamed to do so. Hayden and Sammy sing in various tones, most noticeably their voices when singing such a depressing subject. Their voices almost seem optimistic and fun as opposed to the words they are singing, which fits in perfectly. Critics have said the song sounds 'surprisingly upbeat for a song about a woman failing in life.' They continue singing on, the next chorus until there's a brief break in which all that is heard are the acoustic guitars and piano. They join back in together, as Hayden rounds off the song with his next to perfect vocals on the track. Griffin makes for the perfect partner as well with his soft and likeable voice.HaydenSammy GriffinTogetherGold streets she dreams Fancy cars and silk sheets Ordinary was never made, into her plans Live fast, die young That's what her life has become She speaks nothing, but insanity it seems
She's chasing Slowly falling, but pacing Amazing, is how she seems But every day its just a dream She don't wanna wake up Pacing, regretting a single thing Each time she grows a pair of wings Naturally, she's gazing But you can't see what she sees Shes blanking on everything that's happened to her But she never throws her hands up, saying it's too much She just won't go to sleep tonight In her mind she's made invincible Shrug it off and keep it simple She doesn't know it's all hopeless Cus she loves a lie Loves a lie
Toxic love affairs She will do what's not dared To make herself feel alive And she will never hide She just wants to feel inside She'd take the American Dream
She's chasing Slowly falling, but pacing Amazing, is how she seems But every day its just a dream She don't wanna wake up Pacing, regretting a single thing Each time she grows a pair of wings Naturally, she's gazing But you can't see what she sees Shes blanking on everything that's happened to her But she never throws her hands up, saying it's too much She just won't go to sleep tonight In her mind she's made invincible Shrug it off and keep it simple She doesn't know it's all hopeless Cus she loves a lie But she can't board the flight It's more than a sight She cries She's hoped since she could breathe Still, her heart's not empty She can still see
She's chasing Slowly falling, but pacing Amazing, is how she seems But every day its just a dream She don't wanna wake up Pacing, regretting a single thing Each time she grows a pair of wings Naturally, she's gazing But you can't see what she sees Shes blanking on everything that's happened to her But she never throws her hands up, saying it's too much She just won't go to sleep tonight In her mind she's made invincible Shrug it off and keep it simple She doesn't know it's all hopeless Cus she loves a lie Loves a lie She loves a lie, a lie She loves a lie, a lie, a lie She wishes for the sky

Track Twelve: LSDReleased: June 13th, 2014Length: 4:32Genre: Psychedelic Rock, Indie rock, Stoner rockFormat: Digital Download, CDLabel: Studio60 RecordsWriter(s): Hayden MerjosProducer(s): Hayden Merjos, Ashley HutchensonDescriptionThe last and final track on the 'Sh*t Happens' album is considered one of the most interesting tracks on the record. The single opens with slow foot stomping and handclaps that demand the attention of the listener. It's a turn from the previous acoustic driven track and has more to it than just singing of loss hope and lostness. In fact, the lyrics go hand in hand with the beat as Hayden wraps us around his finger with his slick lyrics and that addicting beat that seems to fill you with drive and yet makes you want to just sit and groove. Hayden treats us all to another dosage of high falsettos and his thunderous voice during the chorus.
How the track came to be is also another beautiful part of the story. Hayden got the inside scoop of what it was really like to be on an acid trip and took notes. He then turned the story into a somewhat teachable moment; don't do acid, but is also painting a fun yet odd picture of 'purple fields' and 'technicolor lights' where he draws his inspiration from in the first verse. The guitar riffs are strikingly similar, but the song is more downtempo. The track continues the hard-edged, rocking sound from 'Consolation Prize' but less of the classic rock feel. Hayden's vocals are as inviting as the song itself, with his calm demeanor of his recounting of a friend's drug habit. Taking the serious subject into an almost fun and interesting tale, is one of the drawing points.
For this track, Hayden uses a special twelve-string guitar with Bill as the lead guitarist on the song. The composition of this song was put together by Hayden and Bill with a drum pattern playing throughout the song with a series of handclaps. The song was made this way so it projected the feel of being high or on a drug, no fast paced movements but almost slurred in the guitar riffs which also can be described as a continuous pattern of reverbs, giving the psychedelic effect.Would you like to take a trip? One where you can see in technicolor lights That make you drool and have to steal your baby's bib You're too confused to know what to think But you don't realize your small feat Old dishes and your clothes are starting to stink Your hobby ain't so cheap Big sums of tears fall from your cheek and confusion clouds your brain till you drop to your knees You won't be counting sheep Here come the crawlers to creep
(Swinging and you're swaying) Taking everything for granted (Through contorted faces) Running faster than a bandit (Find mysterious places) So you take a couple more for scared of risking that you'll realize you're abandoned
Purple fields await
Think of all the magical things you can create Sad I can't relate When will you be ready to do away with him that keeps you awake? You're crumbling like cake
Purple fields await
So will you take the call? Will you ignore or will you soar to the occasion that lingers in your playful little mind? Now you'll have nothing but time It's raging up like a fire. And only you can take it higher, what's a guy to do? Words aren't getting through, and you can't even move But your mind won't sit still until you lose
(Swinging and you're swaying) Taking everything for granted (Through contorted faces) Running faster than a bandit (Find mysterious places) So you take a couple more for scared of risking that you'll realize you're abandoned
Purple fields await (Purple fields await)
Think of all the magical things you can create (You can create) Sad I can't relate (But I can't relate) When will you be (When will you be ready?) ready to do away with him that keeps you awake? You're crumbling like cake
(Swinging and you're swaying) Taking everything for granted (Through contorted faces) Running faster than a bandit (Find mysterious places) So you take a couple more for scared of risking that you'll realize you're abandoned
(Swinging and you're swaying) What's reality and fake anymore? (Through contorted faces) Finding what you're looking for (Swinging and you're swaying) Let's go where the purple fields await
