THE PEOPLE THE POET

I went to go and see Charlie Simpson (of Fightstar) about 18 months ago, and supporting him was a young welsh band called The People The Poet. They opened the show incredibly, the lead singers powerful vocals were just sublime!

They released their debut album at the back end of last year and have only just been able to afford to send out the physical copies in the last few weeks. It is fair to say this is the best album I have listened to in terms of lyrical content, actual musical content and just creativity for the concept too.

The album was written about stories that the band asked their fans to send into them. The album case is designed like a book, and the pages of the book have the emails that were sent to them on one side and the lyrics to the song that was written about them on the next side.

After having listened through the album again after having read the stories, I have really come to appreciate how well written the album actually is, even more so than I originally thought from just the initial listen.
