This is one of the reason I would must rather write for the hell of it and not publish. I don't have the spelling or grammar for it. I would need to find a Damn good editor if I wanted to write. Nah I would much rather just work and not really go to college...oh wait I would make more money if I go to college but the fees and debt from loans will make it so I don't get that money anyway. Damn you vicious cycle |

I've got two more years to complete my Journalism degree. For me, that's two more years of trying to build up some experience. In truth though, I cannot see myself as a journalist or in any full-time job. |

Most people trained in journalism these days are working in content marketing. It's still writing, pretty easy, and it's still quite creative. It's still journalism of a sort. Getting a foot in the door of magazines and newspapers these days is just stupidly difficult. |

Well my entire point, which was ignored, was that it will be difficult to be able to have a job that will pay all those loans in 6 months time. |

Because unless you already have a job that is paying you good money you're not going to find that job. |

We're constantly told that the jobs are just not there anymore over here and we should learn a second language to put ourselves ahead of the crowd. |

Three years now, since I graduated. Even then all the stuff I do is online though. I got lucky by specialising in a niche (mortgage finance and house prices). I would say it's still possible to get in if you're committed to it. If it's something you want to do, just try your best to get as much work experience now as you can and like write freelance and everything. Like I say, it's possible, but you need to go all out to get there. |

Luckily i've already had experience with BBC's radio team and have had a foot in the door at my local newspaper where I also done a week's work experience. Got another question though, when you were studying, could you picture yourself working journalism? Before Uni it was the only thing I wanted to do, I loved doing my work experience. Now i'm having trouble seeing myself doing it full-time. |

Hey if you've got BBC experience, man, that will stand you in good stead, same with the local paper thing. I would say press them for any work even if it's part time. Even see if they'll let you do some freelance stuff. It pays poorly but you get bylines which will help when you graduate.
Yeah to be honest it's the only thing I've ever wanted to do, so I've always pictured myself doing it. When you're at uni though I think it can be hard to envisage yourself in a full-time career of any kind. Do you mean you don't think it's something you want to do full time now?
I would say if you've ever felt like journalism is something you want to do, though, stick with it and go for it, don't give up. |

Anyone have an interest in photography and editing photos? I have this sudden.....urge to try my hand in it as a back up plan if my writing career never pulls through. |

Saw that like a month ago lol. That's how most girls look when they try to dance, it's tragic. |

Now I manage a pub and have my own flat, go figure... |
