Yumi Kazakawa, guitarist and vocalist for rising Chicago punk band The Experiment, was rumored to be seen dining with executives from Japanese record label AVEX at a restaurant in Indianapolis, Indiana, during one of the band's stops on their current tour of the midwest United States. The sighting was unconfirmed, but definitely brings the question that there could be trouble within the band. Manager Bradley Ard, who also plays guitar in the band, declined to comment, but appeared concerned when confronted by our reporter.

Stay tuned for more news on this and other stories.

Bradley Ard, Manager of Chicago bands The Experiment, Pressure Plate, and DJ Strike, and head of the GranTurismo Artist Collective, issued a statement tonight through Harvey Unger of the Chicago Sun Times, regarding rumors swirling around Yumi Kazakawa, frontwoman for The Experiment.

"Rumors are just that, rumors, and we're not going to let that distract us from completing this tour and moving forward. The Experiment just released their debut album, Pressure Plate and DJ Strike both have singles out, the GT Collective is thriving, N0where Studios is doing really good. Everything's good right now.

"From what I understand, Yumi had lunch with some friends from Japan while we were in Indy, and they stuck around for the show. She's originally from there, and they wanted to see us live, so they flew in. That's the way I understand it."

The Experiment's debut album, Smartass, is in stores now, and the first single from the album, Question, will be released to radio in the coming days.

More Rumors are swirling around the GranTurismo Artist collective this evening. According to insider information, DJ Strike was seen at The Dirty Bastard last weekend, and reportedly left the celebrity hangout and casino agitated. Also, several members of the Chicago-based artist group were seen coming and going the next day from the group's studio in the Chicago suburbs, on the heels of rumors about Experiment singer Yumi Kazakawa leaving the group after their current tour, as well as album releases from Pressure Plate and The Experiment, as well as single releases.

Insider rumors state that members of Pressure Plate are upset after Kazakawa and guitarist Bradley Ard, who also handles management for the associated acts, took time away from that band to focus on their side project, and while still officially listed as members, are conspicuously absent from the band's debut album, with their touring replacements covering their roles.

The lead singer of Pressure Plate, Chris Johnson, as well as guitarist Mike Van Goren, were seen at a Chicago restaurant dining with representatives of the QPrime Management Group, and have been spotted after gigs with other label suitors. Also, the band have reportedly been considering leaving the GranTurismo label.

Calls placed to the the studio offices have remained unreturned, and no official statements seem to be forthcoming.

The GranTurismo Artist Collective is expected to announce the departure of Yumi Kazakawa from the band The Experiment some time in the next 24 hours. AVEX Records (Japan) have already announced her signing with the label, as well as her entering the studio with producer Kenji Masahiro in Tokyo within the month.

Also, Chicago band Pressure Plate is expected to announce its signing with a major label in the coming days. The band is currently on tour in North America, and has received a lot of attention from several labels since the release of its debut album, "Another Way", which has spawned two singles to date.

The departures put the future of the GranTurismo collective, as well as the founder, Bradley Ard, in serious doubt.

Calls to NoWhere Recordings, the collective's studio, have not been returned at press time.

GranTurismo collective founder Bradley Ard has released the following statement:

We are saddened to announce the departure of Pressure Plate and Experiment founding member Yumi Kazakawa from both bands, and sincerely wish her well as she embarks on her new adventures across the pond. She's an incredible talent, and I'm sure we'll all be hearing from her in the near future.

Also, yes, the rumors are true that Pressure Plate are moving on to a major label, as well as a management team that will be more able to service them on an international level. The guys are currently at N0where Recordings working on their major label debut, which will be released across North America once they're done. I've heard some of what they're doing, and it's going to be huge! I'm also going to be guesting on a couple tracks, as well as helping them with writing some tracks, which has been a lot of fun. Just goes to show that even if things fall completely apart, friendships can be salvaged!

As for the future of The Experiment, we're releasing our final single as a band, and then James and Rufus are going to be looking for a new vocalist. They're taking things in an entirely new direction, so it should be a lot of fun to see how that turns out. They've asked me to help with the audition process, and I can't wait to get started.

As for myself, I'm going to play a few acoustic shows, and put together a new band of my own. I'm kind of excited, as this project will be something that's all mine. Also, I'll be overseeing the day to day operations of N0Where Studios until I can hire a good manager to take it over.

I thank all the fans for being patient with us during these transitions. Stay tuned, great music is on the way!
