As we are getting closer and closer to the end of 2014, more releases are making way and whether or not you may be impressed with the music released on not, the activeness of music as of late is at an all time high in consistency of releases. A certain band who is set to be one of the newest single releases in 2014 is the Stat Nerds. For those who know about the controversial band, the group is made up of band members Christopher Hudson, Dennis Shaw, Brian Bodkin, and Jerry Holmes. The group have made themselves known as being quite controversial and outspoken, well thanks to some of the band members. Back in 2011, the group experienced some serious label issues with label Shooting Aces but have been able to stay relevant despite the very quiet release of their debut album 'Want To Be' that spawned one single. Since then however, the boys have become a popular band releasing #1 singles "Ready For The Weekend", and "Want Ur Love" featuring the spunky Girlspice member Sophia. All those releases have been in preparation for their long awaited soon to be titled sophomore album that will be released before 2015 as confirmed by the label mates themselves.
The last release we got from Stat Nerds was the single entitled "This Life" which was dance pop/soul concoction that was released as a promotional single. Soon after the release of This Life, the boys took off a bit of time to continue the recording of the album. During this time, member Christopher Hudson went on to make it as a finalist on reality show "Celebrity Big Brother", the other members of the band continued to support the member through is stay. Following Big Brother, the boys started promoting the fact that they have a new single on the way. During this time controversy surrounded the band once more, as rumors about serious tension between Christopher Hudson and Dennis Shaw started to get some coverage. This isn't the first time Chris and Dennis have been rumored to have problems but they have always either denied it or kept quiet about it. This time, it seems to have been swept under a rug and things have been well after pictures on Instagram with Dennis kissing Chris on the cheek in public showing of "bromance". Family and friends fight all the time, so we can only agree that stuff like this is normal and luckily they continue to stay together as a band and are able to be here in 2014 releasing a new track entitled "Out With A Bang"
"Out With A Bang" is the newest single from boyband The Stat Nerds that will be released through Studio60 Records on October 19th, 2014 as a single from their sophomore album that is soon to be titled. The song was produced by producer Liam Tate and was written by C.Hudson and K.Koke. As we get ready for the release of their album, The Stat Nerds have been showing a lot of versatility. This track here is quite different from the soulful vibe of it's promo single "This Life", "Out With A Bang" is much more uptempoed and 'fun' and suggestive we must say. The tracks initial sound is uptempoed and is the perfect track for radio as it mixes some pop with some R&B and soul and talks about enjoying time with a significant other in a romantic and steamy song lyrics that are presented when listening to the track. The song starts off with Dennis who opens up the song over the drums, bouncy backing beat and adlibs. As we may know Dennis opens up with the first verse with steamy lyrics.
Vocally, Dennis can be looked at as the best vocalist in band. Even though the least experienced in the group musically and is a natural alto, he has a naturally agile can go into a high pitched soprano range making his voice very versatile and easily recognizable. After Dennis sings vocals, the boys come together for quick few lines and then Jerry, who posses the most soul vocally is heard with a quick line. Like Dennis, Jerry is also very recognizable and has the deepest singing voice but can harmonize over a beat very very well and does the same here in Out With A Bang. The group as a whole and Jerry trade lines for two more lines before the track breaks into the big hook. Bigger drums and a faster beat is added on the massively catchy vibe of "Out With A Bang". Christopher is now heard, and his presence on a track have always been a boost for the Stat Nerds group. He excudes massive confidence when he sings and has an alto range that can fit on any type of record. Some look at Chris as the strongest vocalist in the group while others argue that it is Dennis but we can all agree that each are all useful members.
As the beat roars, Chris and Jerry trade lines and they all come together for 'b-bang bang" with Chris coming right after, holding his voice higher and showing his ability to also go into higher ranges. As the chorus rides out with Chris ending, he also continues singing for the second verse, showing his confidence and enjoyable voice. As they come together for the pre hook like earlier, Jerry doesn't sing these parts this time, now Dennis is heard once more as his vocals come on in a higher manner as he coos over the fast beat, proclaiming the listener. After the lines are traded the hook comes back with Chris and Dennis trading lines. Here, they easily show why they are both looked at as the strongest vocalists as they voices sound great coming after eachother with Chris staying with a alto range and Dennis sounding higher right after him. We wouldnt be surprised if people started arguing about who sounds better. After the hook Dennis is finally heard solo for the bridge. Where the beat slows down and the backing beat isn't exactly heard and soul instruments are bought on to front and center, Brian too. Brian might not the strongest singer but he has the highest singing voice and it sounds good on the bridge as he sings about two people who have finished what they needed to "do" and shouldn't have any regrets nor should they wave goodbye which is quite provocative. The bridge with Brian singing continues as the beat sounds as if it's rising up. Finally the pre hook finds way aling with he actual hook as the song rides out until the very ending.
