I haven't been following the story and I'm not going to try to to be honest. I think people just want all the black people to rally and get angry but I mean, hey, tons of people get shot and killed by police all the time and there's no rallies. People don't even know most of the time. I think it's ridiculous to riot. All that does is trash THEIR city and THEIR stuff.

If his family asked for no violence, people should respect their wishes and stop adding gasoline drawers to the already out of control fire. As I said on my facebook status (for this of you who saw or follow me) I'm not going to get all mad just because he was black and feel like I need to suddenly pull the race card. I think a lot of the times WE pull the race card so it can seem worse than it is. Didn't he steal something, like some cigarettes? But also, did the officer not shoot him 6 times? I don't know why Mike and his friend weren't just being cooperative and why the officer had to shoot him 6 times just for running. Not to justify anything but the whole case is messy on both sides. I think people need to stop portraying one side as the angel and the other side as the devil.

Being a white male,my experiencing of racism is very slim. I can only recall one time. So yes,I don't know really how it feels. But I do think race is brought in some times where it doesn't belong. There are more white people,so you are statistically more likely to be shot by a white cop. The fact of the matter is sometimes deadly force is required,even if the person is unarmed. Police, are not trained to wound. They are trained to stop the attacker. Even citizens who have a ccw are told to fire until the attacker stops,or the gun is empty. So if what was testified to as going down,went down...all is correct. Was the officer coached what to say by a union rep? Most assuredly. It is shady because I read the officer saying the man reached into his waist band as he ran towards him....the man was unarmed,so why would he reach into his waistband? To whip out his dick?

Mr champ has the right idea. With" rich white males" classism is the new racism. Yes,the ruling class is nearly universally white. But that shade of green makes all the difference. Back to the majority thing,I know lots more white assholes than any other race.

Another thing to watch for is what happens after the riots. Miami had riots similar to this in....the 70's? Early 80's? Before I was here,I know that. Also racially based,after large portions were burned down? Land developers swooped in and bought the ashes for pennies on the dollar and erected apartment buildings.

It's a cycle and is only going to get worse. Which is why I think the fires of racism,sexism,homophobia,and religious discrimination are being fanned. Keep the unwashed masses biting each other and fragmented. Nobody will put 2 and 2 together and see the real enemy. People with no connections,no resources are so much easier to shove around.
