Release Date: 2/8/15 Genre: R&B, Pop, Electro-Hop Songwriters: Payton Rodriguez, Tealiyah 'Liyah' Phuong Producers: Ricky Reed With 2014 well on its way out artists have been appearing out of the woodworks for the new year in 2015. Whether it be established artists revving up for new albums to be released or new artists looking to make a name for themselves in this saturated industry. One thing to be seen though, is whether or not 2015 can live up to the eventfulness, or lack of, that was seen in 2014 and let's be honest 2014 did go down in the books as a rather interesting year in our industry. Now that 2014 is down in the books, we can only look forward. One artist that made quite an interest into the industry is a boy that goes by the name of Payton Rodriguez. 'Payton' as he just likes to be called made a name for himself four months ago when he uploaded a track entitled "Bend Over Miss". What was looked at as a rather funny jokeative song written alongside Adam Benjamin shockingly become one of the most controversial records to be released and a certain career starter for the star who was born in Puerto Rico, but currently lives in Vegas. The track, which depicted a boy singing rather suggestive and in many eyes full on provocative lyrics about a teacher hit YouTube like a bomb. Out of no where, Payton had become the talk of the town as the song was viewed over 7 million times as people instantly started forming opinions about the 17 year old. The opinionated views got so bad that Payton even began receiving death threats over the song. Despite the backlash, Payton has picked up a nice amount of supporters and the track even set a platform for the young up and comer to officially start a career, since Bend Over Miss was never officially sent to iTunes or radio. However, the track was played on mainstream radio stations without any payola due to its shock value. Since Bend Over Miss, Payton has been in the studio working on new music and was set to release his single about a month and a half ago, but unfortunately the young pop comer's Uncle Eddie, tragically passed away in a car accident in Camuy, Puerto Rico just two days after Christmas. Due to the tragedy, Payton stopped any and all recording and pushed back the date of the single until further notice to mourn the loss of his late uncle, who Payton shared a close relationship with. Payton even went on to get a tattoo on his arm in remembrance of Eddie. In late January of 2015, Payton reentered the studio to continue recording his project, one in which he has been very tight lipped about until today, where we get the first single. Player No More is the official single by Puerto Rican recording artist, Payton that will be released on February 10th, 2015. This record is a follow up to Payton's much talked about breakthrough record, Bend Over Miss. Player No More also features a fiery rap verse from rap artist Liyah and was produced by Ricky Reed. Payton first penned the track on November of 2014, looking to make a club banger to follow up after Bend Over Miss. After meeting up with Ricky Reed and recording the track, Payton realized that the song would be even better if a rap verse was included. After scoping different artists, it came down to Chloe or Liyah. In the end, Payton went with Liyah and contacted her people in hopes for a collaboration. At the time, Payton had been buzzing about in the industry and Liyah was very impressed with the record and accepted. Days later Liyah sent back her verse and the track was mixed and finalized and was ready for release. Player No More itself is a fresh ans energetic urban pop record that depicts a boy confessing his loyalty to his "mamacita", a girl he came across who he feels is above all the others he has played around with. The male catalyst is willing to stop all his fun and games of being a player to prove to the girl his loyalty. He does this by showering her with compliments and promises. Payton not only sings through out the record, flexing his vocal prowress and going into falsetto during the pre hook where he coos in falsetto "Baby you about to make me go falsetto". Payton also does a quick style vocal delivery which sounds much like rapping, especially during the second verse where he recalls his antics of taking on girls "Monday through Friday" but the new girl turned him to the "Austin Nimmo type". Liyah bursts out of no where for the bridge where she delivers a fiery verse in which she proclaims her worth through slightly suggestive and provocative lyrics where she murmers " And that p*ssy so good make him wanna go to war". The track rides out shortly after and could easily make a person dance at any party or club just based off of the delivery of Payton and Liyah - who make the perfect team surprisingly on this track. Production wise, the track has a pounding bass line and features trumpets and dark synths over a hip hop driven backing beat that compliments Payton's pleasantly raspy vocals. For the pre hook, the song breaks into a synth heavy expedition where Payton continues to sing with the general feeling of the bit rising into its chorus. The chorus then breaks onto a heavy horn driven club smasher as Payton personality filled vocals soars over the big production, he certainly does not get lost in the saucy, clubby production values. The beats then slow where snapping instruments are heard as Payton spells out "Player No More", before the record breaks in the next verse where he begins to rap.
