I am replacing my laptop hard-drive for the first time right now. Using Seagate DiscWizard to clone my existing partitions to the new drive connected via a USB to SATA caddy which will hold the old drive after the swap. Old drive is 160GB 5400RPM, new is 320GB 7200RPM (YES! FINALLY!).

6.836GB -> 6.836GB
2 of 4
"Primary"
74GB -> 80GB
3 of 4 *CURRENTLY RUNNING 92%*
"Secondary"
68GB -> 211GB
4 of 4
Master Boot Record
And then finally, the physical swap, and then, fingers crossed it'll go without a hitch. If not, then I'll need to faff about with my recovery disc (damn you laptop manufacturer Windows pre-installers not shipping with Vista install discs). |

A simple BIOS switch and it booted right up. Now I've just finished copying all my Documents and other User folders to Secondary, minus several items in the download folder which have gone and corrupted themselves so I'm about to boot into FreeDOS or whatever it's called to kill those files, and then I'll be all ready for a swift system partition wipe for a pain-free Windows 7 upgrade at the end of October. Excitement abound. |

I just got back from taking my dog to the vet. And I thought only doctors depressed me, I don't like seeing a woman come in with her chinchilla or whatever it was, and seeing it get put down. Fucking awful.
Though my dog is fine, just a sprain I think. |

Woo! After literally hours and hours of searching and command windows and safemode and bootdisks in Linux and DOS, I finally managed to delete my rogue 0 byte no file type files, thanks to a little program called Unlocker, and all the movable folders in Vista's User folders (Documents, Pictures, Music, Downloads, etc.) has now been safely excised to the Secondary partition. |

I'm in college. Which is why I said college classmates. As opposed to kindergarten. Besides, we're British so lets not call it kindergarten, lets call it fucking pre-school or play school or other words that do not refer to another nations system, thank you very much.
I'm more just stunneded at the selection of me for anything. It's quite awesome. |

It's quite awesome. its a good word that sums up my feelings about college or university or secondary school's even.... having class presidents or deputy class president.... and anyway English is a language that is a big pile up and amalgamation of different languages so i see no problem using a German word to describe it.. |

Yes but you are refering to the Yank concept of Kindergarten which differs from the British school system.
The reason you have "class representatives" is so we can sit in on 3 meetings a year with our lecturers to go over any parts of the course we (the entire class) think should be adapted or whatever else.
I don't know how you can equate that to pre-school, unless you have some sort of moronic anti-education/intelligence streak on the go? |

When i was at university they simply had questionnaires every term asking us how we felt about the courses we were doing, what we thought could be improved as well as a very good open door policy meaning we always had someone to talk to if needed... A much more adult and effective system in my opinion as for the whole equating is with pre-school being moronic... no i find the concept of voting for a deputy class representative a bit moronic. it would be very hypocritical of me being anti-educational seeing as i take every opportunity i can to learn and get qualifications etc etc.... |

Well yes, there is an open door policy for problems with the course etc etc. I've genuinely no idea what this position is meant to equate to, didn't ask for it, was slightly bemused when I got nominated, and even more so when I got voted for it. But it'll look decent enough on a Uni personal statement which is really all that matters.
And Christ, what fucking preschool did you go to that let you vote on anything? |
