Jenna Korkeilen

Born in Toulon from Finnish parents , she starts playing bass guitar at the age of 16 . She has been studying in the French scholar system and had a bilingual education , between French and Finnish .

Talahassa Pohjoinen

He was born in Helsinki from Finnish parents and joined the city of Toulon at the age of 9 . He was 12 years old when he started to play rhythmic guitar . He is also bilingual , speaking both French and Finnish .

Erika de Klerk

She was born in Bloemfontein , South Africa in an Afrikaner family . She started to play lead guitar at the age of 9 and joined the city of Toulon when she was 18 years old . She is bilingual , speaking Afrikaans and English . She learned French as soon as she arrived in France and is now perfectly fluent but still prefers to talk in Afrikaans and especially with Patrick Van Woerd .

Patrick Van Woerd

He is the boyfriend of Erika de Klerk and followed her to Toulon . He started to play drums at the age of 11 and is also trilingual as he speaks Afrikaans , English and isiZoulou . He learned French as soon as he arrived in France and is quite fluent but he prefers to talk in Afrikaans , especially with Erika .

Toshio Otoshima

He was born in Lyon from a Japanese mother and a French father and joined the city of Toulon at the age of 15 .
He's obsessed with percussions since his early childhood and plays all kind of different instruments . He can speak in French and Japanese , but sparsely uses Japanese as he reserves this language for his mother .

Levy Saulnier

Born in Toulon from French parents , he learned English at school and became highly fluent in English . He started to play keyboard at the age of 6

Musical Style

The style of Zusammen is absolutely unique and specific . It is really difficult to describe it with precision because of its complexity and its subtleties . But globally , it could be describe as a fusion between Pink Floyd and Mike Oldfield and Kraftwerk and ACDC , with a special touch that belongs only to them .

The music is very often adapted to the lyrics , and could be sweet and joyful or dark and sinister , depending on the theme of the song . While it is globally classified as Electronica and Progressive Rock , it can also be classified as a kind of World Music , because of the heavy use of exotic instruments such as kantele or tonkori .

The lyrics are rarely fully innocents , in the sense that they almost always have a political or social innuendo that is hidden between and behind the words . The members of Zusammen are known for being strong liberals , and frankly in favor of the abolition of death-penalty and for tougher gun control policies . They also denounce in their songs hypocrisy in the French political spectrum .
The lyrics are mostly in English for evident commercial reasons , but are also in French , Afrikaans , Finnish and finally Japanese because these 4 languages are the mother tongues of the group members . Almost all of the songs are at least bilingual and often trilingual , even when the title and the refrain are in English .

Alta Velocita and Erokeria are pop-rock songs in a style that is perfect for dancing , while the progressive rock track Kuunvalon is a kind of musical essay .
