Have you lot had and/or been to any good house parties? Themed ones, any particularly fun stuff to do, etc.? (Ulterior motive : I'm planning a party and I want it to be a REALLY good night. I'm not experienced in party planning, and I need ideas. Help!) |

Themes tend to be fun but a lot of people hate them.
I held a house party once, and my only recommendation is, lock up everything of remote value or fragility. Especially when over 20 people are involved.
Oh, and things will always get broken regardless. |

Best house party i have ever been too was held at a house with a massive pool... ahh memories....
yeah i agree, lock up anything and everything that you even remotly like, as some stuff will get broken... its just something that happens...
good themes? Superheroes Neon ballroom rocky horror show lust for loot things that rhyme with orange (actually see if anyone gets the joke)
i would also get the friend with the best taste in music to organise the soundtracks, as it makes it a lot easier for you... |
I hate it when people see me at the supermarket and they are like: Hey, what are you doing here? and im just like: Oh you know, hunting elephants |

I will never ever go to a themed party. Unless it's the theme of "be a fat git in jeans". Fuck that. Sounds hideous to my ears.
All you need for a good house party are a good bunch of pals. Really, everything else just falls into place after that. Well, having a supply of alcohol always helps lubricate things, and a half-decent stereo is pretty much a necessity.
And yeah, I'd never ever host one :) |

I on the other hand will ONLY go to a themed party, and even then I'll sit in the corner thinking "boy, I thought this was going to be interesting because of the theme, but it turns out it's just a bunch of fuckwits getting pissed while DRESSED LIKE IDIOTS." And then someone comes over to me and asks "Having fun?" and then I say "I am having the most fun I have ever had in my life," sarcastically, before realising that they were talking to the person next to me as though I don't even exist, so then I go home and descend into my basement where I have kidnapped several people and am slowly torturing them to death and in this one case that old adage of "It's always the quiet ones you have to look out for," will turn out to be 100% correct.
Oh I'm sorry, I went off on a tangent there. |

Oh I'm sorry, I went off on a tangent there. Well you can always.... you know.... talk to people.... and stuff..... Never quite got the hang of theme parties. I have been to plenty of great house parties though, that mostly ended with me pissing in the garden and if I was unlucky in the bathroom with a fat chick. Oh yes.

I love pirate themed parties. You get to poke people with your sword. Actually its pirate day on saturday! i think we should make it compulsery to speak like a pirate on saturday. Yarr!
There was a group of people younger than me and they had a house party, they ended up smashing 2 -3 tiles in the kitchen, a bathroom window. Apparently there were condoms in his little bros bedroom and puke everywhere.
Hope you know what your letting yourself in for.
I hope we all get an invite.

I love house parties. Last house party I went to we got kicked out so we just got wasted in a field. Other one we all got stoned and I couldnt stop laughing, and the best one I've ever been to was down in Sevenoaks, and we went to the house and got absolutely smashed, then we started walking down the road at 1 in the morning to the station for some reason and then the police came down, so we all ran through sevenoaks drunk being chased by like two policemen. In the end we all hid and slept in Knole Park. Fun stuff :P
Not a big fan of themes though, I prefer ones where I can wear clothes that I want rather than wearing things that look pointless because it'll get a laugh in the first five minutes but later on people start taking the piss and it's stupid because there wearing the same kind of thing.

I've had house parties before. They've usually involved cocktails, finger buffets, drunken Singstar and a general feeling of "this party is gay". :P (I'm not heterophobic, it just always turns out to be gays'n'girls. The straight guys leave first!) Not that I don't love that, I really do, but I'm wondering if I can do any better. Edited by user 19 September 2009 04:42:37(UTC)

If you invited the trsg population, of the ones who showed up, you'd be left with girls'n'gays anyway xD |
