Ok so we are all human. how can Pop singers sing while they are dancing their asses off, they got to have some backing track or something more thank just back up singers. I believe that dancing tracks shouldn't require the artist to sing live, for example how can you possibly sing a song while your bending your back to the ground and throwing yourself around the stage, its impossible. That's why many artist such as Lady Gaga are making acoustic versions of their songs to put some singing in it at least. I love her idea I think many artists should do that. Gaga sang live at the VMAs and danced a lot... and Madonna uses backing tracks. |

I don't like Lady Gaga but at least she sings live for the couple of times I've seen her on award shows or talk shows. If they attempt to sing some part of it live, that's not great but it's better than lip-syncing the whole time. For example you could have a circus-themed show but it still wouldn't be worth to see that person lip-syncing they entire show and have 200$ bucks gone. |

True that, but I don't wanna hear a dead goat either. So I rather have the lip sync, the fans don't mind and that's all that matters. And she does't lip sync everything. Its worth to see it trust me, really its a spectacular show the best concert I have ever seen. I really had fun and I thought my money was well spend. Britney is known for it anyway so it shouldn't be a shocker.

Yes. I'd rather see an artist standing still but actually singing than otherwise. |

I agree, they should minimize the dancing and the festivities and focus on the singing. The musicianship is more important than how fast they can thrust their pelvis around the stage. |

Lip-synching - no, no and NO. And did I mention NO?
If the singer doesn't have the balls to sing live, they shouldn't be performing live. If it's dance you want to see, then go to a dance show instead. I like to see a musician put on a show, but if it means sacrificing the bare essentials of music, it's not worth it. |

I'm not a metal fan, and I can dance to what I listen. I pretty much agree with Bikki, if I go to a concert, I go for the music. I've seen many punk concerts that the singer had to scream a lot, and yet he could make a lot of pretty complex movements. |

If you want to see a dancer dance to music you see a dance show, if you want to watch a musician play music you see a music show. If they can't mix the two together, then they shouldn't do it. I don't care if the persons dancing around the place as long as the sounds good in my opinion. Some of the best live musicians just stand there anyway. If you want to dance to a music show though go see a DJ or a drum n bass act. |

Yeah, you have never watched a metal band live so you clearly have no clue. And of course popstars lip-synch live. |

In reference to Gaga and her live performances, at the VMAs at least, she actually used a guide vocal and mild autotune. This is evident particularly in the last chorus after she starts bleeding in "Paparazzi". It would have ironed over small mistakes that the rigorous choreography would have caused. |

actually i think a better topic name would be.... Songs... do we need the dancing?
and im my opinion.. no. Dancing does not add to a song. |

It's not only pop stars who dance, and some people can sing and dance .... if you can sing and dance, go for it. However, if you're not such a multitasker, just sing. I saw Britney's Circus show - and to be honest I'd much rather have seen Britney standing still, no backing dancers or special effects, singing live the whole time. |

That's all bullshit. Hell no, if Britney standed around so she can sing "live" than you will be bored, britney fans will get pissed, the show will get negative reviews, it would basically ruin Britney's career. Britney is known for lip-synching her songs. It shouldn't be a surprise to you that she is lip synching. If you don't like it simply don't come to her shows (it really isn't goig to make a difference)You DON"T EVER stand around on a circus show or any "Pop" show. Only on the slow songs.
Beyonce: Her songs are easier to sing live because they are R&B songs. Single Ladies is one of the toughest one but it is doable.
Shakira: Most songs are doable live, but She Wolf is a tough one. I would defenetely hate to see her standing around for that one. SO ITS OKAY for her to lip-synch it.
Britney: Most of her songs are though to sing live. Especially "Womanizer" try that one buddy and tell me if you can do it while dancing. At this point she should be able to do some of her old songs but then again most of her old songs are towards the end of the show, meaning she is tired as hell.
Anyway the point here, that this isn't a metal show, this isn't an R&B show. Its a Pop show. A Pop show wihtout dancing its like a metal show without screaming.
And BTW I have not ben to metal concerts but I've seen them on youtube. They are crazy and I do not call that singing period. Just my opinion. I understand it requires a lot of energy to make noise but seriously it is just not sining. UGHHH, I fell like throwing up (Britney, Ciara Shakira) Ok I'm better now.
Also let me clarify this:
People do go come to a Beyonce show to see her throw her pelvis around (As of now she is the only one I know who does that), they want to see "Dancing". Thats what people expect the most out of Pop shows. They want to see pyros go off in the air while Britney hold her leg up high. They want to see Shakira moaning while doing cage moves, they want to see the lights move around crazy, the smoke feeling the stage, the beat taking over the body, the sexyness making you feel uncomfortble, they want to see the runing around the stage clerifiying that is the Artist stage for the night.

Why the fuck must you dance on music. That so called pop stars, created by music labels and producers, who cant even play an instrument or sing, used as media hypes, are only making names becouse moving their asses is all they can do. Thats why they call it dance music. Singing and dancing at the same time like all the Britneys is FAKE. She is fake. She will always be fake. People who listen to it are fake also. |

Steph, why do you start these threads when no matter what people say you get mad and go on about how Pop is better than Metal? If you start an argument with a rock hard opinion, then the whole argument is useless. |
