Rising is the seventh official single from Swedish Extreme Metal trio The Enlightened. It serves as the third 'teaser' taken from the band's sophomore album, Mythos, which is going to be released this June. The first two singles from the upcoming effort, Visions and I Am The Darkness enjoyed a good reception from fans and critics and a great charts performance. This single is availalbe in three formats: CD, Digital Download and Limited-Edition 7" Picture Vynil through Kaleidoscope Records worldwide.
The song was written by Tom Orgsen and was recorded at the Rever Studios (London) and the Black Cave Studios (Stockholm) in January 2015. It's produced by Bill Owens, who also designed the cover artwork.
Rising is described by band members as a brutal, dark and epic song, which is one of the shortest tunes on the album. It's very influenced by classical Extreme Metal, mainly by Black Metal, due to its dark and 'mysterious' atmosphere. There're also symphonic and orchestral elements, as the first violin solo the band have ever recorded. The lyrics are based on the sumerian mythology: about the rising of very important and iconic cities of the ancient Mesopotamia.
"Hail conspirators! Hell Yeah...Here you have another gift for you! The third teaser from the upcoming Mythos! Let's talk about the song, this is, surely, one of the heaviest and darkest songs we have ever recorded. A true piece of extremely heavy and melodic Black Metal, there are lot of blast-beats and really low-tuned guitars, with some symphonic elements too. I recorded a violin solo, for the first time of my life! It's a fuckin' evil song, really epic and dark, it has a strong middle-eastern influence on its sound, we put a lot of arabic melodies for the lead guitars and the result is really cool...Hope you love this song!"
