I've been noticing that all the RP people always seem to end up bumping their posts and asking for feedback since no one bothers to post and it's a shame because some people put a lot of hard work and effort into their RP's and they don't get recognition for it so it just goes unnoticed. I think all us RP people should start giving each other feedback a bit more, even if it's only a short line complimenting someone if you like the artwork or a song title or whatever, it would get the RP section a lot busier and people would probably bother to post a lot more. Anyone agree? :)

Well, you know I agree, Stace, as we always moan to each other about it, lol.

But it is very true. Half the time I can't be bothered to write up ideas for roleplay, because I know I'll put a lot of time into coming up with an idea I think is interesting and writing it out and plotting a storyline for it and nobody even bothers to reply, even though it gets views. Sometimes it just seems that people will only bump their own threads and it really ruins roleplay, especially when people bump threads that just say "so and so are releasing their new single today - buy it". The creativity seems to have been lost, and people don't seem bothered about mingling in the forums with others. It seems very self-obsessed at the moment.
Think of my most popular thread. It was the Justin McClane show which, again, had minimal feedback, yet replies by people just wanting their artist on the show so its basically publicity or attention on them with minimal effort given back to the others that have contributed to the show.

Oh, and just another bit of advice: I tend to comment on threads by people that make an effort with replying to mine, or others, posts and those who try to be a bit more creative with their ideas, so if everybody just put in a little more effort to get to know other users characters and interact a little more, roleplay would be a lot more interesting for everybody. Nobody likes posting to themselves.

I agree.

I think we need to work on separating ourselves from our characters and really think about what our character will actually say.

Well, I know from experience. Like 90% of all my roleplay's go under the radar with no replies. I, like most other roleplayers put a lot of work on our roleplay but I haven't been very active in roleplay lately because I haven't seen the point of it, I mean put so much effort on a piece of work when you'd only get 1 or 2 replies then that's it. Like Stacy said even the most minimal feedback to someone else's roleplay will be good to keep the roleplay section alive and active.

Agree, I haven't even bothered to work on a good RP, cause whats the point when no one will care about it or your band anyway?

I do get annoyed when I spend ages writing something and get no replies, or making a big plan for something to happen and there's arse all interest .... but a lot of the time, I read long RPs, but I don't reply because 1. I can't think of something to say or 2. I'd feel kind of stupid writing one or two lines in response to something big.

I'll only reply if its of something interesting to me...as harsh as it sounds I am not going to give a shit otherwise. There are times when there is nothing to say...I know there are others who are not interested in my RP's so fairs fair.

As for my RP's, I do it simply for myself. If someone comments, then great. Otherwise I dont really care if no one comments. My two cents worth.

I usually read everyone's RPs, but I usually can't reply IC because it'd be odd for my characters to be listening to hard core rock.

Is shouldn't matter what genre the band or artist is. Like I said we should work on what would our characters say. If your band hates pop put something like this

"What trash music it is, ughh I hate it" [Or whatever your character wants to say]

If you feel a little uncomfortable saying that than simply put an OOC: Saying that is just RP [with a smile :) at the end]

The point here is that people (including me) should be more involved with each others thread.

People used to post a lot more a while ago and it wasn't just people commenting on bands of a similar genre to themselves, people gave feedback to everyone. Even if you have nothing really to say, leaving an OOC message with a simple "good roleplay" reply is better than nothing. How are we going to get roleplay busier if we all carry on commenting on those only of a similar genre to ourselves? A good example of back in the day was when Raven used to comment on some of my GirlSpice threads and he has a heavy metal act, they even collaborated! And like Steph said, you can even leave an in character negative reply to start up a rivalry (like what Miss Vanity and Gemma Ferns have been doing) and if you're not comfortable then just leave an OOC message at the end. How are we all going to get more replies to our own threads if we don't start commenting on others more?

I've stalked these forums for years on and off. There is a trend to RP. Sometimes you'll hit a golden age, where some great people come along and RP flourishes, people comment on each others threads, even small ones, larger events and storylines take place and it's actually fun to log in and read what's been going on. Unfortunately they don't usually last long. Because you get people who'll come in and post solely in their own threads, or have two people who only reply to each other. The people who know each other get short on ideas and the people who come in feel they don't fit in cos of the tight knit group of regulars. That's when I usually bail for a while. Cos I get sick of logging in and reading spam, cos it's the only new posts on here.

I've made some good friends via this lil game we got going here, (shout out to my homies Gem, Lewis, Bikki, Stacy, Elliot, TWB and Birdie if you're still round ;) ) I'd like to make more, but that isn't going to happen if we don't interact.

Exactly, I mean, if The Rockers and Stephanie Fierce can work together, then there is no reason we all cant work together. I mean seriously, thats like Beyonce working with Ac/Dc.

Look, the point is, I don't comment because a lot of the time I'm sifting through a utter shit before finding a decent roleplay! There are good roleplayers out there (and you know who you are!) who's threads I'll always read, but the general topics we get now.. not even worth a look. I'm using the 'mark forum as read' button more and more frequently lately.

Sorry for the downer.. :)

Good point, if harsh :P

But it's a cycle, good RP'ers can't be fucked working on a post for ages if all they ever get in return is 12 views and if they're lucky a "LOL!!! my band is better!!!"
You gotta start by commenting the good RP, and trusting others to comment when you write your own. Reverse the cycle and it'll all work out. Things always work out. :)

I'm not sure if I'm good or bad so I'm not gonna take credit but a lot of people deserve some credit.I mean I guess I sorta re-started the "Golden Age" when I joined the old forum and stuff but then I had a slump I think I'm getting better though.Anyway I think Stacy,Bikz, and totally AJ and PANIC! Deserve some credit because they are spectacular.PANIC! Is without a doubt probably the the roleplayer as of late, with bikz in a close second with her Brisky thing going that's pretty insane. The AJ had some amazing RP's a couple weeks ago but now all of the sudden he's disappearing. But I think people should give more comments because if you think someone is utter shit at RPing you should tell them and they get better, think of Lee is the old forum, he improved a ton, and when I was in the old forum I looked at old posts and found Stacy wasn't the most liked early on either. So everyone should comment because if we're gonna RP and get nothing there might as well be no comment button at all because it's not worth the time bumping a billion times.Just because Beyonce doesn't like Opeth doesn't mean Stephanie can't comment on my post. And just because Madonna doesn't like indie rock (actually she probably does but whatever) doesn't mean Troy can't comment on Elliot's posts. That's all I have to say.
